Final predictions and thoughts for 08

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Haga @ Mar 6 2008, 03:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I actually don't really know, I just get the feeling that he will win it.

All the best to him although I personally think that those days finished with Bayliss at Valencia `06.

Nice thread...

1. Who will win the 2008 Championship? Stoner
2. Who will be rookie of the year? Lorenzo (Heart says Toseland)
3. Who will be the most improved rider from 07? West
4. What brand will win the constructors title? Ductai (Melandri will come good)
5. What brand will come last in constructors title? Kawasaki
6. What brand of tire will be most successful? Bridgestone Race - Frog's during Qual
7. What Satellite team will have best showing? Tech 3 (Looking good in testing)
8. What rider(s) will have his first premier class win? Toseland on June 22nd (My birthday, and just so happens to be donny!) - Lorenzo too
9. What rider will be the biggest disappointment? Elias
10. What rider will crash the most? DeAnglis
11. Do you think Team Kenny Roberts will return to MotoGP this year? No
12. Of the current entries, who will be last in the championship at the end of the year? Elias or Nakano
13. Who will leave MotoGP at the end of the year? Nakano, Edwards
14. Who will win Indy (new track)? Stoner
15. What will we complain about next year? Motogp.com's video feeds, forum trolls, Stoner running away with the Championship

Final thoughts: I hope we see some class racing, I'm not fussed who wins - as long as us the punters are kept happy. There's no excitment when peopl get 10 second leads - no matter how impresive.

I think Stoner will be teh man to beat and the haters will find it hard to make excuses.

Close last lap showndowns are what I love about motoGP the most - if I get a handful of those I'm a happy man.

Roll on Qatar

Yes Spies is great...but can he win the AMA on something other than the Yosh Suzuki? Probably not...

Revised prediction:

In light of recent revelations by Honda factory rolling out 07 spec bike, I predict Hayden will have a dismal year…again. Engine reliability issues (testing new engine throughout season), and more than normal crashes (trying not to embarrass himself he will take it to the limit). Of course, we will blame it on his piss poor riding ability.

On the cusp of a new season, I'm bummed out. Loyalty has its price. .... loyalty.

Are you talking about Spies? The guy barely won his both championships (especially 07), not sure I would characterize this as "dominance". I'll give you the guy is talented and certainly driven. But I'd rate him as good as Toseland or so. I doubt he would win at a new track on a new bike (for him) while others are at least familiar with the machine. Being on home turf only goes so far, and then you have to negotiate the track, bike, and the other competitors. I'd say in this case (revised for me) I'd give that edge to Rossi or Stoner at Indy. If he has any chance anywhere it will be a Laguna, and I even doubt that.

I am glad one American in the US sees sense about Spies...

I'm a fan of Rossi, but I can also see the talent and potential in other riders (unlike Andrew and jazkat). Based on last year and Stoner's consistency and form in testing simply makes him the favorite for 08, the man to beat. I think Rossi will be the only rider to push him all the way.

Of course like any of the predictions here it will most likely turn out to be complete ........

Anybody have any last thoughts before it begins? Say it now, so you don't go telling everybody, "you knew it all the time", or "I told you so", after the fact.

My last words before the season:

.... Factory Honda! (I thought you boys were good at math; get your .... together man, WTF, your running 07 ....? Get a calendar, its 08 mothafukers).

.... Michelin! (Get your heads out of your ..... or get out of MotoGP, Q tires don't win races dumb .....).

.... Pedrosa! (Its obvious why, no explanation needed, even the devil doesn't want you in hell).

And now for the happy thoughts:

Go Rossi! (Yeah, I know, but .... it, I'm a card-carrying member now, spark up the ganja-burning tabernacle and bring on the hot chicks man).

Go Stoner! (Yeah right, like you need the help, we all know the Ducati rides itself, but hang on tight little buddy while it’s remote-controlled around the track).

Go Hayden! (You got an uphill battle with a robo-monkey on your back, but you can do it man, we believe in the power of dreams! Anything can happen.)

More words to come post race!

1. That all riders stay as injury free for as long as possible.

2. There are no big crashes which can affect championship chances for anyone

3. There are a few rostrum "incidents" which expose a few riders for what they are (a la max/rossi)

4 this ones for you jumkie... pedrosa spends all of 2008 sucking on Haydens tailpipe

5.the racing is clean and close all season long with the finish going down to the wire.

just a few more thoughts for '08.

good luck to all the riders...

<

I subscribe to Al's thoughs on injury and big crash free season!

Adding

<ul>[]Go Loris!! Go Chris! GO Suzuki !! []Go Marco !! Go Guintoli!! Make a Duke surprize! Go Ducati![]GO DANI!!!Go Dovi !!!GO Randy!!
<
[/list]

I hope for a clean season, full of action and without a runaway from Stoner ( I can drem no?
<
)

1 - Who will be champion? Casey Stoner.
2 - Rookie? Jorge
3 - Most Improved? If you're talking from last season then I think Capirossi.
4 - What brand will win constructors? Yamaha by a whisker!
5 - What brand will come last? Suzuki
6 - Brand of tyre? Bridgestone
7 - Best satellite team? Tech 3
8 - Rider for first win? None
9 - Biggest disappointment? Melandri
10 - Most crashes? Elias
11 - Kenny Roberts to return? No
12 - Last in the championship? Elias
13 - Who will leave motogp? Edwards, Capirossi and possibly West
14 - Who will win Indy? Stoner
15 - Complain about next year? The same ........ as this year!!

Hope it's a great year for everyone (especially the Aussies). I hope West proves me wrong and shows he's a worthy entrant in this class. I hope no Spaniards win a race!
It would be good to see at least one rookie have a great show in every race. I really hope someone besides Stoner can come to grips with the duke.
finally I hope the motoGP website doesn't .... me over this year.
Good Luck to everyone!!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (phleg @ Mar 6 2008, 04:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Shut up Tom, he's an American in America. HE WILL WIN IT NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES OK?

thank you, phleq.

Personally I don't think Spies has much of a chance. No one has won a race in the dry on a 4-stroke Suzuki. If it's wet Spies ain't gonna beat Verme.

Spies is not only an American but a Texan. Curve and I are always going on and on about how good he is. It will never stop.
<

The one thing Spies has going for him is that no one has raced the track. If the AMA had half a brain they'd schedule some testing there or hold a PR event at the circuit so Spies can get the first peek.

Sneaky sneaky.

Yes fully agree!!! Son!! UR right on the money!!! Again As Usual!!! Our Casey is going to kick lots of ... in 2008!!! and please Casey don't be so dominant in 2008...hheee as all us Aussies will get embarrassed with it!!! Just WIN by 20 points cause then they won't have any excuses!!!

Cheers to all for 2008!!! Happy New Year!!!

Well it's obvious you don't even watch. No one can win the superbike crown in the Mladin-era without Yosh Suzuki on the tank.

No one, but THE ONE. We all know what he went on to do.
<

Yeah, that's right. Let it sink in Migs. Let the truth sink all the way down to the marrow
<

Edit: I forgot to remind everyone that Spies is Schwantz's choosen protege. You don't want to mess with The Schwantz.
