F1 : 2013

Nah I'm like astonishingly smart and that makes me realize that all forms of pure economy / equipment management elements should be kept at a minimum In racing. This .... is way worse than the 21l rule ( which it seems has worked out albeit with losses, but that's not possible with the tyrew).

You had a laugh at hayden in 08-10? Aggreasive drivers like ham vet rai will make you cry

Of the four teams you mentioned, seems like 2 got it right.  Kind of unfair for the smart kids to give an easy exam at the end of the year so the dumb can get descent grades...[/quote]

Maybe that's where you misunderstand me.

I'm not lobbying for taking my fav drivers biggest advantage away (kimi).I'm lobbying for an enjoyable more logic f1.

I'm not necessarily so upset about the number of pitstops ( a max of 3 would be ok) its always 4/5th of the stint where these guys hold back and cruise around go all webber on the team radio.at least ham and rai have some nice chat from time to time.

A damn highlights only race for me sighs Oh well. I'll still watch it and enjoy it I suppose.

Given the nature of Monaco and the less than easy passing here, it should be good for Mercedes, if they get pole like they have been doing there will be a long train of cars behind them who can't by I suspect ;)

Tense qualifying for Monaco.  The drying conditions looked downright evil.

I get the impression that Kimi and Eyebrows had trouble getting enough heat in the tires.  Alonso in particular was desperately thrashing the fronts in an effort to warm them.  Given a dry track tomorrow, the Lotus should squeeze the best life from the tires, and I'm hoping Kimi can nick a podium by staying out longer than the others. Merc claim they've improved tire life, but I gotta doubt that they can maintain their 1-2 starting positions for the entire race.  Maybe Hambone will be willing to back up the field by tens of seconds as Rosberg builds an insurmountable lead.

I'll pick Kimi, Fred (Boo!), and Vettel or one of the Mercs for the podium, in no particular order.

Well apparently Ross Brawn has been heard to say they might use the second Merc in a tactical way, that means Hamilton will hold the rest up and allow Rosberg to build a gap then I suppose. I am hoping Vettel will sneak by him, after all Hamilton tends to be harder on his tyres than most so if anyone is going to struggle it will be him I would think.

Kimi has a good chance but he has two Red Bulls to pass before he gets near the Mercs, saying that with Webber's lousy starts of late it shouldn't take too much to pass him, Vettel will be another story of course. Alonso is too far back but you can never say never with him, give him a sniff of a win and he'll be there. Should be a good race hopefully, with the emphasis on race, it's meant to be dry too. Wonder if we'll see the safety car here? We usually do, it hasn't been out so far this year has it? That must be some kind of record.

Mmm! stoned and confused but just watched it.

Seemed an interesting race.

Loved Perez's move up the inside of the chicane, not one you see often here and it eventually bit him on the ....

1st safety car screwed Hamburger dropping behind the two red bulls. hey ho.

I enjoyed it TBH 1st Monaco race I've said that about in a good many years. Bed! ;)

So no safety cars this whole season then three in one race and a red flag! I'm not sure about Perez, he's either brilliant for making the moves he does or an ...... Loved the way Kimi sized him up, he reckons some of the moves are stupid and when asked if the drivers would be having a word with him he said it wouldn't help and that maybe someone should punch him in the face. That's so Kimi!!

Rosberg drove a good race, though the fact Vettel could do a lap more than 2 seconds faster than he had been doing two laps from the end, it shows that none of them were pushing because of the tyres and that's plain dumb.

Grosjean had four crashes in three days and deserves his 10 place grid penalty in Canada if you ask me. Nasty crash for both Massa and Maldonado I thought and I felt bad for Ricciardo too when he got crashed into.

Of course Merc could yet be in big trouble for doing a tyre test with Pirelli with current drivers in a current car, that's totally against the rules.

 ....... perez. Lyria doing drugs too? Sofuarquez could have caused multiple stupid collisions.how alo deserved the ride through after being left no room and almost rammed is beyond me.

Sutils moves on various people at the hairpin were brilliant. Nice to see someone being smart enough to set his car up in unusual places to spice it up.that turning circle was insane.lorry vs golf gti in Monaco

Oh joke of the year : on lap 5 (!) Van der garde was 1 second (!) Faster than anybody else because of a mere 20 km in tyre wear.rqcing , right?

....... Mexican drivers!  :p

Perez (Sofuarquez :D ) is no genius. Any fool can brake 40 feet later and bomb on in.  Doing so while leaving both drivers room to live takes somehting called 'skill.'

Even at constipated Monaco, the jello tires hurt the racing.  Look what happened to Hamilton's rubber after a few laps spent chasing and harassing Webber. They were shot, and his team had to tell him to back off so as to finish the race.  And, as Lyria pointed out, SV was multiple seconds faster when let off the leash.

Typical Monaco snoozefest!

Good drive by Rosberg,

He had it under control after a couple of laps and was a demon on the restarts.

Damn Cliche are you spunking on Guinters because you love him so much!

Hahaha you gotta live with that for the next 12 months!

And every post will make me laugh louder. ;)

It's the only possible gui picture that makes me laugh myself

Any news on what merc will get for the supposedly unfair Pirelli test?

Hey it wasn't a supposedly unfair test, it was totally illegal under both FOTA and FIA rules. This isn't a let's see if we can get them into trouble thing, they did wrong, end of story. No news yet but the FIA are looking into it, that could mean anything. There's a chance it will go to a tribunal but from what I've read they're badly in the wrong and I imagine they should get a punishment of some kind for it, what that punishment could be is anyone's guess of course. I imagine either a fine,or maybe a loss of points, maybe even a race ban or a combination of any of the above or something comepletely different.

The move Perez made on Button was a pretty good one, the move on Alonso left eyebrows with no real choice, either cut the chicane and be forced to hand the place over, or crash. Not much of a choice is it? The move on Kimi was so dumb even I could have told him it was never going to work from watching on my sofa, if I could see that there wasn't enough room and I knew Kimi wouldn't back off and give him space, why didn't he? It was at best optimisic, at worst plain stupid! He ruined both their races but given how bad the McLaren is this year I don't suppose it matters much to him does it?

just read up a little on the tyre test (couldn't follow sports closely the past few weeks), you're absoltely right of course.

that the asked before whether they could do that and still went through with it after being told no is quite something

Of course I am sweetie, I'm a woman and we always are, didn't you learn that yet? ;) :p

Actually, seriously now, what they did is beyond belief really, they can't honestly have expected to get away with doing something like that. Pirelli must have known it was wrong too yet they still did it. The FIA have to act against them, they have no choice I'd say, it was a blatant case of breaking the rules.

Well it was a good quali in my opinion. Then again my boy got pole so I would think so ;) Massa crashed again? That's three times in two races so far and he could do so again today!!

Brilliant drive by Bottas to get third, though if he's not careful he oculd be a moving chicane once the race starts, not that Vettel and Hamilton will complain if he is. Wa surprised by McLaren, they're so bad and the team told Jenson he had two minutes left after the red flag when th clock said 1:59, he missed crossing the line bfore the chequered flag by a whisker, wonder if that second made a difference.

Should be a good race, showers predicted, not that Canada needs rain to spice it up, it's one of the best races of the year anyway in my opinion.

Just read up on the tyre test = Holy ....?

What i like though is the media statement by Rosberg effectively washing Mercedes hands of it by saying. "Pirelli made us do it". Yeah right.

Yeah but did you read the part where Hamilton was tweeting that he was in the USA whilst doing the test? The fact the drivers wore different helmets so no one knew it was them? They say it was for privacy not secrecy, my eye!!  This one is going to be huge if they're found guilty and I can't see how they won't be. Could be we have Michelin back next year, who knows?

michelin back to f1?

let me dig out that quote by krop about what spitroast is more likely to happen

That is just a rumour I've read, might not end up being true yet.

Good race I thought in terms of some actual racing going on. I actually enjoyed the result a fair bit.

Sad bit of news though, seems a marshall dies after being ht by a crane when they removed Gutierrez's car. That's awful news, really bad.
