F1 : 2013

I agree, radio messages should be in English. I'd like Hulkenberg to get the Ferrari drive, I rate him as well. The tifosi would love Schumi no matter where he came and Massa isn't a racer, he's a lapdog!!

Oh and did you see Pedrosa at the race?

I'm afraid I disagree.

Massa was a racer but has not been able to bring himself back fully since the bolt accident!

Just my 2 cents ;)

disagree, not only that i think that hockenheim 2010 had a bigger negative impact on felipe, i think sometimes he really matched alonso but is always forced to fall back.

i could count so many examples, today just being the latest. if you think about it you really have to hand it to felipe...i couldn't perform for .... if i just knew my results are virtually of no meaning to anybody. then again i don't know whether to judge him picking money over glory is all that sexy. its not like hes half as likeable as ce2 to justify that

loved the vettel booing on the podium, if you harvest so much hate you must surely do something right :)

TBH missed the start, BSB. tuned back in about 14 laps in and then flicked between BSB meeting races.

So I don't fully know what happened today but suspect Massa did the wingman job and let Eyebows through?

I still rate Massa, to come back as he has especially this season (team orders aside) he has shown true courage. ;)

Damn I missed the booing!!! ;)

I didn't boo, but I did mourn the death of the 2013 season. It's all over before they even head into Asia.

I know theoretically, the WDC can be won by someone other than Vettel, but realistically there's no hope in hell. Even when he doesn't win, he's always top 3. Looks like I picked a good time to start following MotoGP.

I always have a hard time evaluating Massa. Time was, I'd say without a second's hesitation, he's a world class racer. Now it's a lot harder. The fact he even has the balls to race after Hockenheim deserves my respect. I'm not sure I could do it, and it's not like he's overly slow. But he is inconsistent, there's no guarantee he'll bring home points (or even bring the car home at all) and even with Ferrari throwing all their support behind Nando, they still need Felipe to bring home the bacon or they'll never be within shouting distance of the WCC.

IMO The biggest gap in quality between driver and the car they drive at the moment is Hulkenberg. If he doesn't get a top drive in the next 2 years, there's a lot of idiots in team management. Get the right car under him and he will win a WDC before too long.

No, sorry going to disagree again then. Massa was a racer even after his accident until Alonso broke his spirit. He's been made to play number two so long he's lost the ability to race for himself anymore. He just does at he's told and keeps begging for a new contract each year. It's sad but that is how it is. Yet again yesterday he pulled over and let his team mate by when he was doing a pretty decent job himself, that can't make you feel good about yourself and your worth or abilities can it?

Hulkenberg is a talent and I want to see him in a faster car. When he put the Williams on pole in Brazil a couple of years ago I was impressed, what he did yesterday in a Sauber made me even more so. That boy is good, he'd have been a good team mate for Vettel as well I reckon.

i can still remember when schumi called it quits and all discussion in any forum, bar, kart track would center around who would be next in line for glory

back then it was at least 50/50 split on vettel/hülkenberg and i admit that back then i would have put my money on nico.

its a shame how things can go wrong because of passport and sponsorship and that there realistically is only one young drivers program that decides on talent alone.

hope nico will NOT make the mistake of signing up for team red. <strike>hector</strike> fernando can do a lap on his own

Latest rumour is Kimi is almost signed up to join Alonso at Ferrari. If that is true, then I predict a riot ;) I can't see those two getting along, if you thought Webber/Vettel or Hamilton/Alonso was bad, I think this one could be worse!!  More like what I've read about Lorenzo and Rossi the first time around.

Of course it might not happen and I could be wrong, but I am looking forward to finding out if I am.

i'd pay to see kimi vs fernando. right after seb vs kimi that would be the best teammate duel.

also i like to see ferrari man up a little bit and put some pressure on fernando.

i know it must seem like i'm talking him down constantly, but i geniunly believe that having a real world class driver that isn't afraid of luca and his sock puppet stefano will put into perspective how good fernando really is.

which most certainly can't be bad (after all he dethroned schumi) but certainly not better than the other guys that make up the top 5 at the moment.

Ferrari decision is expected within 48 hours. There's a rumour now that Kimi might actually be traded for Alonso which could be fun.

I'm actually now starting to hope more that Lotus get Nico rather than keep Kimi.

After calling the team idiots over the airwaves after quallie this does not suprise me one iota.

i just hope this means one thing :

that vettel NEVER drives for fiarrari. would hate to see him be granted the opportunity to turn into a real ........

can't agree about wanting nico there...if the team really is financially up .... creek i don't want him to go to the next mid pack team.

rather mercedes, mclaren etc. someday

But...they're my team. :p

They've just aquired a new Dubai-based sponsor and allegedly have a big deal on the way. Provided they don't spend all their money on retaining Kimi, they should be able to stay at the sharp end of the grid. I'd have no issue with him going to McLaren as the fact they're going to have Honda engines in 2015 gets me sexually excited. If they're able to go to a marlboro-style livery also, that might push me over the edge. Just don't want to see him end up at Red Bull or Ferrari.

I could almost see a straight trade - Waaahlonso to Lotus in exchange for Ice (Cream) Man.

If Fez give Eyebrows the boot, where else is he gonna go?  He's burned so many bridges...

Don't anticipate Nico wanting to leave Mercedes.  Is he looking to get out?

Yikes, the rumor mill (Italian media) is spinning out of control with "Kimi to Ferrari!" headlines.

I think it's pretty much a done deal now, we will see Eyebrow and Ice Cream man together. I can't wait!!  :)

I don't like Alonso much as a person but I would say he's a hell of a driver, give him half a chance of beating you and he will rein you in and get by somehow I reckon. I don't ever underestimate his ability. Between Alonso and Kimi I reckon there will be some races they will both beat the other, one thing is for sure Kimi won't pull over ot let his team mate by, not a chance!

Yep, I agree, I hope Hulkenberg gets the nod at Lotus, he'll be cheaper than Kimi and will do a damn fine job for them I would say.

I'd hate Vettel to go to Ferrari, it's the last thing I'd want to see happen!

this is all very good news. lyrica, i didn't mean i expect kimi to just beat him. but i fully expect him to match him over the course of the season, sometimes beat him, sometimes lose.

alonso will surely stay at ferrari, santander will not change teams too often and if it wasn't for santander alonso just wouldn't get a top cockpit. i'm very happy to debate this point btw.

not with mclaren, not with mercedes, not with red bull and if it isn't looking up for lotus not with them either given the unrealistic amount of money he demands when you keep his actual accomplishments in mind (great, but he isn't on a schumacher 2002 level).

i hope that none of the big teams fall behind significantly next season, 2014 is shaping up to be the bomb.

the way i see it we have 5 drivers with a very good shot at the wc

Wrong Nico. Don't see any changes at Mercedes.

And four of them are Sebastian Vettel. :p

I see 3 with a very good shot, Vet Alo Ham.

Outside shots for Rai and Ros

Raikkonen won't jump into a Ferrari and immediately start winning races. He's a bit like Jenson in that if his car doesn't feel right, he's not great at just working around it. Particularly his steering. As he generally corners by feel, he needs the feedback from the wheel to be just right. So I anticpate a few races where he will be finding his way with the car. Ironically I actually think he has a better shot at a title with Lotus next year (sponsor pending) as they already know how to work with him to get a car that responds well.

If the Hulk goes to Lotus. I don't aniticpate a championship right away, but I do expect him to win some races and be looking incredibly strong for 2015. I also give Dan a year at RedBull before seeing him challenge for the title.

You could be right about Kimi and having to get a feel for the Ferrari 14X, but don't forget they're all going to have to get used to the new engines and reg etc. It's going to be a big change for all of them so that could make it easier on him in many ways.

Cliche darling, it's Lyria, not Lyrica :p

I agree, Kimi will probably be as strong as Alonso in some races, but I will bet you here and now that over a course of a season (barring any injury or whatever) in the same car Alonso will be ahead more often than Kimi is. I also think we're going to get fireworks and I can't wait. Putting those two together isn't going to be all hugs and sunshine that's for damn sure.

To be fair to Alonso when he won his championships he's never had the best car on the grid, one of the best but not the best at all. The Ferrari has made him look less good than he really is, in fact he's flattered the Ferrari by getting the results he has, Massa's results are more of a true reflection of the pace of the car if you ask me.

Bring on 2014, all 21 races of it, though 3 are still to be confirmed of course, I already can't wait :)

Cliche if you honestly think that Alonso isn't one of three drivers in F1 which are head and shoulders above the rest, then I suggest you are either deluded by how much you dislike him or simply don't understand what you are watching.  Everyone has their favorites but you have to be realistic at least.

As for Nico Hulkenberg, I totally agree, he is easily the best driver not already in a top team and it's a crime he hasn't already been given a big opportunity.  I guess it isn't ideal being one of many Germans in F1 recently, especially when one has been Schumi (nuff said), one is Vettel (nuff said) and one is called Rosberg and has recently proven to be the superb driver he was always supposed to be, although I find his defensive driving to be some of the most questionable on the grid... but I digress.  The Hulk has looked nothing but brilliant since GP2 when he seemed to win the title pretty convincingly as a rookie.
