F1 : 2013

Just realised I meant to add this earlier.

14X you mention the mechanical issues with car 2, don't forget that Vettel has been leading a race and had to retire or lost the lead seven times from mechanical failures, that just from the lead, there are probably other times too but I can't be naffed to work it out ;)  That is not a small amount of wins to lose, so the issues haven't all been with Webber's car even if it seems that way. Seb's also had other issues when not leading of course I have no doubt on that, Seb just gets on with it though for the most part without making a fuss.

I agree with Cliche, Webber has an awful habit of playing the 'poor me, I'm so hard done' by card. When Webber pulls a stunt on Vettel, Seb is man enough to just let it go. When Webber has any excuse he runs to the press and whines about how unfair everything is. That's what most annoys me about him!

Lovely pics 14X, very nice indeed, ta muchly for posting those :)

Forgive me if you were being sarcastic, but it's quite ridiculous to claim that Seb is man enough to let it go when Webber displeases him.  Vettel held a press conference where he quite clearly said that he holds a grudge against Mark, and that he mugged Webber at Sepang as revenge for Webber not jumping out of his way after he shat the bed in Brasil last year.

no.you can't keep making stuff up.

seb said webber wouldn't have deserved to be gifted a win.

and he was right for a multitude of reasons and  talked about it quite honestly.

1. webber never did anything for seb (the crucial brazil 2012 race being just the latest atrocious example of unfair behaviour.and no, don'T twist this around. i'm talking about helping fernando by and pushing the soon to be champ into the wall)

2. the teamorder wouldn't have given the team a clear and decisive advantage

3. the points would have been wasted on webber (sounds arrogant but try arguing against it...)

4. it was way too early in the season

^^^^ definately my last vettel/f1 post. i can appreciate that the successful will always have to endure slander(especially germans in f1), but i've grown very tired of these misconceptions and twisting of reality.

in what universe vettel is more arrogant than alonso (and even hamilton i'd argue) is unknown to me.

same goes for the morale part, but i guess crashgate, being a SNITCH (yup, thats real),a supporter of racism, and openly humiliating your own teammate are all ok as long as you got the mono brow.

it's embarassing for the f1 community IMO that so many people buy into the media created notion of which driver is the bomb, when its plain to see that its all for an agenda.

I've not been sure whether to pose this in the MotoGP thread or here because it seems equally relevant to both. I'm just curious, but why do people here (generalising of course, but I've seen a few examples) like Vettel but hate Marquez?

They're both fast, they're both young and they both have a commanding lead in their respective championship, they both embarrass their teammates with the same equipment, I'm not a MM fan, but he seems a likeable enough kid. And (admittedly I know less on the subject that F1) with the added edge that there's nowhere near as much drama around him.

I don't like Seb, don't dislike him either. just his fcuking finger.

However MM! Don't get me started on that spanish ....!

@ 14 :

Marquez is a hell of a rider and i truly appreciate his phenomenal talent but he has a history of treating other riders like .... and putting b literally their lives on the line. ..just for a lap in free practice. No rider stands above the sport and given that I'm watching because i adore these guys it's only logical to found an ama. We still have an internship on offer should you be interested

heh, not sure I hate him enough just yet. :)  But I'm not fully aware of the history. Other than ignoring the yellows at Silverstone that is. But I agree with the principle. This is a dangerous enough sport as it is without people taking uncesseary risks with other people's lives.

I don't hate Marquez, I don't like him much either though. I am a Vettel fan, have been since he was at Toro Rosso, I looked at him then and decided this kid has something about him, so I started to follow him and for me, he's not done anything that wrong. Yes he and Webber have had a few ding dongs but it's so minor when you go back and look at other team mates who haven't got along. Remember Senna and Prost?

If you look at Lorenzo and Rossi when they were team mates before (not that I remember this, wasn't watching then but I have read about it) they hated each other so much they had to build a wall in the pit garage between them. As I say, that is only what I read.

So friction between team mates is nothing new. Apart from Webber, find me another driver who thinks Vettel is unfair on track or who thinks he's made dangerous moves. Bet you can't is all I'm saying. Yes the finger is annoying at times Red, what got me was Button complained about it last year then when he won what did he do? Oh yeah, gave us the finger salute!!  Duh! So why Vettel gets such bad press I don't know, it's unfair if you ask me.

Marquez was dangerous with the yellow flag but hopefully he won't do that again. He's also got a reputation from motogp2 for some of his moves that he hasn't tried so far in motogp this year it seems. I just haven't warmed to him is all.

Those are my ramblings anyway, but it is early ;)

Well I never said Seb loves Mark and hasn't said a word against him, but he doesn't run to the press and play the poor me role that Webber does consistently. Yes if asked about things Seb will say how he feels, why shouldn't he? He feels he's been badly treated by team mate at times too and he's right to feel that way, he just doesn't constantly make the fuss and riot about it that Webber seems to is what I meant.

So, let's pretend I still care about the 2013 season. What are everyone's predictions for tomorrow?

I'm going with;

1: Vet

2: Web:

3: Alo

4: Ros

5: Ham

6: Mas

7: But

8: Ric

9: Rai

10: Hul

Okay I'll have a go:

1 Vettel

2 Alonso

3 Hamilton

4 Webber

5 Raikkonen

6 Rosberg

7 Perez

8 Button

9 Massa

10 Vergne

Haha I think Webber quite likes the whole underdog thing, and it's probably what makes him so popular with the British crowds.  At the end of the day, I think most of the drivers are as bad as each other.  Vettel, Webber, Alonso, Massa, Hamilton etc all get themselves in trouble every now and then.  It is certainly always going to focus around the most successful driver of the moment because he is always in the spotlight.  Nobody we have in the sport now comes near to Schumacher or Senna in terms of poor sportsmanship and dodgy behaviour, so in the grand scheme of things none of it is new

Wow, nandos knows no shame. Getting a tow from massa and not letting the guy put in a decent lap on his own and then being audacious enough to call the team idiots as a thank you for sacrificing everything for him..

Question : a guy that can't do .... on his own as we've witnessed since 2007 is being the complete driver? What does that make kimi and seb?

I hope Felipe mans up and finishes in front of him. He can do it

This season is as good as over for me.

I fcuking hope McLaren sort a proper car for next season.

Perez is doing okay now he has settled down would love to see what he can do in competitive machinery.

He showed a lot of promise but realistically you have to judge his performance in the sulver car as not that good. Hope he can get his game back on track , he (and koba...) were doing really well in the sauber.

Agree though that a unexpected badly performing car can set a youngster back a bit in his development, so let's see what he'll do when the mcs are at the front again

wearing my massa shirt right now, go felipe!

forgot to add :

with 3 gears being damaged in quali for seb i fear reliability might be his biggest opponent. also,if you struggle at silvers with such things you will have a hard time at monza.

have to say i expect alonso to be on the podium. the ferrari obviously has a good race pace and he's got a great team working solely on getting him to the front. you have to expect of him to make use of that again and consistently, especially after the latest backpedalling. last chance or he's slowly about to get the prost treatment if ferrari can keep santander onboard

My picks weren't bad :)

Great race by Vettel again, yay Seb!!  Ferrari have pulled that towing trick for the last three years, I really hope Massa was 'too quick' on purpose, my respect for him would go up if it was.

Webber drove well, deserved the podium he got as well. Button drove well too I thought.

Mario, tell me again how Ferrari aren't looking racier now? If you can't see that they are we're watching two different things!!

my thoughts :

1. it should be an unwritten rule that all team radio should be in english. for transparancy and because its fair to all fans

2.i wonder if schumi would have gotten a reaction like that if he would have kept coming second.

3. hülkenberg should really get the ferrari contract if ferrari don't want to finally put some pressure on fernando by putting a better driver in equal position.

massa will never ever be a racer again.

I agree, radio messages should be in English. I'd like Hulkenberg to get the Ferrari drive, I rate him as well. The tifosi would love Schumi no matter where he came and Massa isn't a racer, he's a lapdog!!

Oh and did you see Pedrosa at the race?
