Vale will have a competitive ride in 2013

Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta is confident that MotoGP superstar Valentino Rossi will be fighting for victory in 2013.

Rossi, a seven time MotoGP champion and winner of 79 races for Honda and Yamaha, has taken just two podiums since joining Ducati at the starting of 2011.

But in an interview with Omnicorse.it, Ezpeleta is quoted as saying:

"I am calm. Valentino next year will be riding a competitive bike, but I [can't] tell you what it is. It is still too early to talk about: in 2013 we will see Rossi fight for the win... again.”

Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha), Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda) and Bradley Smith (Tech 3) are the only riders with a 2013 MotoGP contract already in place.

Yeah I just read that as well. I wonder....but, if he does wind up on some personal SAT team, how does Vale' get reassured that Honda will ultimately have the latest and greatest? No matter what team he decides other than the factory Duc, who is really going to keep him on the latest stuff? It just seems to me the most logical decision for Vale would be is to stay at Ducati and make it work. No doubt he can do it. But what people need to remember is that Ducati have made major strides to help Vale in his quest for victory. They make bikes that normally take a full year in advance in order to speed up the process. SO Vale has to see that they will stop at nothing to get him the top of the box. But we shall see...

jeez us h christ on a crutch! who in their right ....... mind doesn't see the back room wheeling and dealing going on here....damn this is almost as bad as nascar who has a history of stupid rule changes and back door deals to ensure their man wins the championship. bout ....... done with motogp...if Nicky were in any other series I would already be done!

.... this ....... ...... Ezpeleta!

Yea, big surprise. "Sun to rise in the East!!!"

After the Rookie Rule was rescinded, it was just a matter of time 'till this announcement was made.

I'm a little surprised that Ezzy's the one to do the deed, but it really doesn't matter who gets to spill the beans.

that's for sure !

This corrupt clown has absolutely no integrity. Where does he get the money and support to subsidize all of these decisions. He has no vision for the future other than to make sure that VR is on a bike well into his 50's. How much did he bribe Honda/Yamaha for a bike for VR. These special treatment and rules changes that VR and MM get borders on criminal. It has gone too far,, now I hope that Audi pulls Ducati right out of this Bullsht series until Ezzy gets sacked. His dream of a 4 bike (only) race at every track is assured while everyone else is just "grid dressing". And when you get right down to it, CRTs racing with the real bikes is another one of his pathetic bandage jokes.

Well said. +1

The .... about it L8, is that when we were arguing this was how GP was run back in 2003-2010, nobody listened. The Saturday night specials, the Bridgestone debacle, now this rookie rule with the caveats of getting the darlings back up front. Its ....... pathetic.

Thats what I'm hoping too. For him to say VR will be on a competitive bike is a slap in Ducati's face. Why they remain in the series is a mystery to me. .... MotoGP. I hope Duc exit, take their 4 bikes left, invest the money in Wsbk with Nicky and let GP rot in their own politics.

WTF are all your panties in a bunch for? Where does it say any deal was struck to get Rossi on a better bike. He's saying he can't talk about it because nothing has happened and wont til Rossi decides his own fate but he knows what Rossi wants and that Rossi can no doubt work out a deal to get on a better bike. It isn't a big mystery and he doesn't need Dorna to help him, he can get sponsors and neither Yam or Honda have completely shut the door on him.

With all due respect Hawk, its right there between the lines buddy.

The British Grand Prix was pulling near 90,000 at one stage - mostly an ocean of yellow. I believe there were 65,000 in attendance the other Sunday.

If for some reason Manchester United stopped winning overnight Old Trafford would suddenly be half full because the glory hunters and bandwagon jumpers would stop attending.

The same things happened on PS. I don't see the likes of 'Mick..Rossi..46...No.1', 'Valentino is God' or 'Rob' anymore because they've lost interest. What I do still see are members such Rog, Talpa, Yamaka, Pete, Goatboy and their like, all Valentino supporters, but over and above that - all genuine fans of the sport first and foremost. Similarly when Stoner retires we'll still see Michael and his ilk posting regularly - and doubtless even Barry. The fanboys will all for the large part disappear.

Dorna are a business and Valentino on a rostrum is a lucrative prospect - a golden goose. They want that 25,000 back at the British Grand Prix next year and the disaffected Valentino contingent returning and worldwide swelling attendances throughout the season.

Personally I want to see Valentino on competitive equitable machinery so that Jorge can have the satisfaction of beating him.

Not sure if Rob belongs in that list.

But I've also notices a bit of ebb from the likes of Bunyip, Mr. Squiggles, Steifel, Pinky, and dare I say, Scotty and the rest of the neo-bops.

Barry has no choice. Between screwing apes and dogs, his only other friend is a mouse.

No. But the blatantness of it all seems to be increasing. At one time Peeps relied on putting 2&2 together, now they dont even attempt to appear legit. Its like they know we'll tune in regardless, so FU. Gots me taking a second look at CS retirement.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. His thinly (cough cough) veiled comments are easily read right through. .... Dorna and their horseshit. GP hasn't been good for years. Yeah we get a decent few laps a race and that is it. Nicky I hope goes to SBK with Ducati and the Panigale, wipes up, and keeps that series interesting. Who does really know what is going to happen, but for this to come out today, after all these latest reports and statements from Vale about his decision, challenge, etc blah blah blah with DUcati. Guess this is why the last thing Vale was saying....yeah I want to win with Ducati now. YEah cause he is gone after this year. Bummer for me, Ducati, and Italy. Oh yeah, Vale's ego should have a hard time sitting down after this IF he leaves Ducati now.

This is not exactly news. It was strongly rumoured DORNA partly engineered valentino's move from honda to yamaha in the first place, they were definitely part of lcr getting a start in motogp with an australian rider, seem to bring strong pressure for the moto2 champion to get a premier class ride (certainly in tony elias's case), possibly have encouraged the presence of a british rider in the field, carmelo reputedly talked the former ducati principals over a game of golf to put their main resources in motogp during 2010, etc.

In truth I don't have much problem (obviously not with the australian rider and lcr thing) as long as they don't promote the unworthy at the expense of the worthy, and it is not as if there are better riders than him going round to keep valentino off a yamaha or honda next year on merit. I guess it might interfere with succession plans /longterm rider strategies etc, but otherwise him getting on a competitive bike again and being successful again would massively boost the sport, and be massively beneficial for the team involved at least in the short term. The main barriers to him being on a factory honda or yamaha next year were political and possibly financial, and that he has pissed them off in the past/offended bushido/whatever.

I continue to object to dorna changing the rules after the fact/when the game is already underway, not that jorge/yamaha on current evidence need any help, but won't go there again in this post.
