I dunno. Many believed that Dovi’s bikes at HRC were intentional emasculated at Repsol’s behest to keep him from overshadowing Pedrosa, which seemed to be borne out by the way he would be consistently faster whenever Pedrosa was off having more plates installed. Then there’s the matter of Pedrosa still on the bike engineered around him virtually never finishing higher than Dovi, even in the early days of Gigi’s redevelopment of the bike.

I think that is likely true once Stoner joined and HRC no longer wanted Dovi there but he insisted (not unreasonably imo) that his contract be enforced. I think it is far-fetched in regard to recent years prior to 2011 though, they may not have realised it in 2006, but by 2011 they knew Dani was a long shot to be riders' champion (hence signing Stoner), and Honda are also usually keen to win the manufacturers' title.

I also think there is absolutely no doubt Dovi is the inferior rider in general, look at their records as Jorge himself said, and I highly doubt Dovi is Jorge's superior if you put them both on a bike other than a Ducati last year. There was an interesting interview with Jorge pre-race, I think on Crashnet, where he says it took him so long to learn to ride the thing because it is so different, and needed to be ridden in a manner he considered illogical, which accords with what Stoner has said, that you had to ride the Ducati the way it wanted to be ridden. Dovi rode great last year and obviously Jorge looked horrible in comparison but it took Dovi 4 full years and part of a 5th to get there, it was a toss-up between keeping him and Iannone if you recall. They gave Jorge 1 season and a few races.

To me it looks as though they thought history had repeated and they had made the Rossi error again. It now appears they have repeated the Stoner error. Ducati make Jarvis look like a genius.

- There should be a comma after “Double Negative”
- An ellipsis involves three dots
- The first letter of a sentence is typically capitalized

Oh, the irony of the jihad refugee sheepfucker who can barely form coherent sentences trying to teach others proper grammar and composition... (There, that’s a proper ellipsis).

What does "Nice try Jap's eye" mean?

It's best not to refer to the Japanese as "Japs". That would be considered a racist epithet by any Japanese member.

Also, since you're so interested in the rules of grammar, a comma is always followed by a space.

No argument there. BTW - did anyone imply Dovi was superior to Lorenzo? Asking for a friend. ;)

Technically you’re right if we’re being super PC, but that expression has been used as short-hand for Japanese on this forum ever since it was a forum. All about context.

As expected ,that race went off just like most thought it would. The three fastest riders didn't .... around because one bolted and forced them to go, shows how good Marquez is to have an outgunned bike in contention for a win. As expected, Rossi would finish higher than his qualifying effort and the boppers would tell you how great he is by overcoming such a .... bike.Truth is 5-6 is his true spot, was last year and is this year as the Yamaha has not recovered from the tire change of 17. but is easily the 3rd best bike. There is no denying how good the Ducati has become as it is competitive on any track and has won 4 of the last 6 races. Their problem is in that run, they have only picked up around 15 points . Ducati won Silverstone last year but was more the Honda having a freak engine failure that cost them a likely win. I expect another Lorenzo Marquez dual like they have had in the past at Silverstone with Marquez quelling any hope of a comeback. Great ride from Lorenzo and Marquez and as serious as it got on track, there was hugs and high fives in parc ferme.

Just goes to show whoever wins looks like a genius. I was sure Jorge shot himself in the foot with the S/S option. In retrospect, it looks like that is sometimes a great race long option for him when he can run a smooth race. I sure can’t tell when that is going to be from watching the tv though.

Certainly not you, but some had him out of the sport or struggling for a ride in 2019 earlier this year.

It was unwise to write him off was my point, just as it was unwise to write Rossi off after his Ducati adventure, although even allowing for the bike being much better now and admitting my bias in Jorge’s favour he is imo showing greater persistence and greater adaptability at age 32 than Rossi did at a similar age.

My thoughts on the soft soft option were, that being that this track is dominated by long straights, the front tyre has plenty of opportunity to cool in between braking/heating cycles.

I agree actually, this is Ducati’s best track. You have to give Jorge credit though as you have done, he rode a very smart last lap as has been said, and deserves extra credit for choosing the softs and making them work, he would have been in a minority of approximately one in thinking he could win on the soft/soft tire option.

didn't Ianonne win on the softs in 16.?

When I call you a smarmy little curry munching ...., I mean it in the context that you’re a smarmy little curry munching .....

Yes, but Jorge had little record of winning on a Ducati on softs himself, his record on those tires riding for Ducati, particularly when others are on harder tires, rather being of leading for half a race on them, wearing them out, then fading. Sure perhaps they were the correct tire for this round, and MM was the one who made the strategic tire choice, hoping to goad the Ducati riders into wearing out their tires with him lasting better on the hard tire.

As many have said, Jorge appears to not be such an old dog that he is incapable of learning new tricks, nearly winning on a hard tire the previous round at Brno and also on that occasion coming on strong at the end of the race rather than attempting to lead the whole way after a jackrabbit start as had been his wont for a number of years.

It gives me some satisfaction, having had a year long argument a few seasons ago with the famous or infamous Wosidog and a somewhat crazed frenchman on another forum, their contention being that Jorge had ruined the Yamaha both in general and for Rossi because he could only ride corner
speed and had developed the bike in that direction, my contention being that Jorge had exaggerated his natural corner speed style because that was where the Yamaha possibly had an advantage, and riding an extreme corner speed style was the only way a Yamaha rider could hope to compete with MM.

Still feeling good about Yamaha having 4 riders who are better prospects than Jorge next year?.

That is probably the worst baiting attempt I have ever seen.
I would say “Don’t quit your day job”, but you’re in here all the time so I’m guessing that’s not really applicable.
