Estoril MotoGP: Rossi and Stoner clash again
http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/s...1/April/apr2911-rossi-and-stoner-clash-again/
By Matthew Birt - MotoGP
The on-going intense rivalry between Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner continued on and off the track today in Portugal.
Back on track for the first time since Rossi caused a controversial collision with Stoner at the previous round in Jerez, a renewal of their fierce rivalry showed no sign of easing tonight ahead of the third round of the 2011 world championship in Estoril.
Aussie Stoner was riled in practice that factory Ducati rider Rossi was following him to try and improve his lap time.
At one stage, the 2007 world champion was seen gesturing Rossi towards him and the Repsol Honda rider explained: "It was like calling Valentino who was always following me. To find the best lap he was always behind me."
"It's like a dog always following you everywhere so it was like c'mon (whistles), good boy. If he is struggling to do a lap time this is it. We had our problems during the session and we were focussing on this but I also saw he held up Toni Elias a lot to find his lap time so I don't think it is so correct."
Rossi spent the majority of a lengthy media debrief with the Italian media talking about Stoner and he repeated his typically forthright opinions when he faced questions from the international press pack.
The 32-year-old said: "About today, I don’t think Casey likes me a lot. This is quite clear. First it was because I slowed down to catch my breath because I was quite tired and I wanted to make a last lap pushing."
"Stoner passed and I restarted to push. He was in front of me but I wasn't close but this happens in every practice and every race, so if he doesn’t want anybody to follow him then he has to race alone."
Rossi said he had seen Stoner's gesture and he added: “I saw it yes but I expected this. When we are together he always exaggerates everything too much. If I have to make like this in all my career for people that follow me then I break my seat."

Marca: Stoner responds to criticism from Burgess and Rossi
Thursday, 28 April 2011
In a lengthy interview with Spanish sporting daily Marca, Casey Stoner admits he is having one of the best phases in his career to date. The Repsol Honda rider commented that he had been working throughout the winter primarily to get used to the RC212V before development started, and also praised his rivals.
Stoner also responded to criticisms from Jeremy Burgess and Valentino Rossi after their move to Ducati, when “they did not know the real potential of the bike because I had not pushed it to the limit, and other things. Or Jeremy saying that only 18 seconds were needed to adjust the bike because it had a very simple setting. They’ve taken months and months with the bike and haven’t improved it. For me, they have to keep their mouths shut because they have not figured out how to ride this bike.”
-------------------------------------------------------------
about this part: “they did not know the real potential of the bike because I had not pushed it to the limit" , as far as I remember (but i,m not sure) JB said : Ducati riders Except Stoner. these comments tell me, Stoner has started a fight with Rossi, and he hasn't cooled down yet from the last gp.
But the most strange one for me was this one from yesterday: "To find the best lap he was always behind me. It's like a dog always following you everywhere so it was like c'mon (whistles), good boy. If he is struggling to do a lap time this is it. We had our problems during the session and we were focussing on this but I also saw he held up Toni Elias a lot to find his lap time so I don't think it is so correct.",
What do you think of these comments? Do you think Stoner was right to be upset with Rossi yesterday.
What do you find of his worries for Elias? Did Rossi ruined Elias's lap or was that vice versa, or there was nothing wrong with it at all?
The good thing about this is that we are invited to a new show down between these two.
Will the usual "Ethics masters", i mean the real fans or the sport fans, criticise Stoner for this, like they usually do with Rossi, or will they ignore it or even defend him for this, or will they react like the greatest ethics master of all time (Jumkie) and find it amusing this time?
Imagine, how many pages had already been written, if Rossi had said this. Imagine how many times people had already imagined about Rossi fans reactions if this was the other way arround.
