Too Funny!!

Okay guys, I don't know who this guy is. If his last GP was 1992 then of course I don't as I was only 1 year old at the time!

Has he ever won any championships? Where has he raced since 1992?

As usual, stick to what you know. You don't know .... about the AMA, even though you sometimes pretent to buddy.

Seriously though, Miguel has only won AMA titles, and the one year he tried to have a go at actual road racing by entering GPs his best finish was 5th...
Unfortunately, like most riders in the AMA he is a comfortable potato in his non-competative odd-ruled series...and will ride around Laguna like he is king for a day and he will show well, but it is a little sad Honda could not have the guts to put someone good on the Elias' bike...

Well it will be interesting to see how he fares against Marco. IMO this could be Gresini's payback for having Marco badmouthing the bike and team. If he gets beat by DuHammel Marco's next employer might re-think their offer.

BTW I wouldn't have guessed this one in a million years.

I wonder who will sub in Sachsenring then ... Ralf Waldmann??? He's old (sorry I mean mature don't wanna offend our respected less young members ... rofl) and local too!

Well I'll chip in then since I do know some '....' about AMA.

The AMA is a domestic series, it's not the most competitive (open to debate but it's true, two guys always win)...but the Yanks here (sorry it sounds so condescending) always chip into some GP talent threads and shout about how good your guys, we do it over here about BSB, but not to the same extent.

Ok, I may have ranted, but:

Duhamel has won countless minor AMA divisions has he not? I know he has won countless SS titles but only one AMA title, before the Suzuki domination began, but that being said, he should have jumped to Zook. What is the point of putting Miguel Duhamel on the bike? There are countless American talents who are riding Honda's, such as Jake Zemke (who I actually rate, dunno why, he seems like a cool guy) who could actually benefit from the experience.

But to place him on the same pedastel as Bayliss? That is a bit silly don't'cha think RJ? Bayliss is a proven GP winner and WORLD Superbike champion, whereas Miguel never made it out of his own series, save for a .... year in GP500.

Btw correct me if I'm wrong on anything.

PS Isn't the AMA on a control Dunlop tyre rule? That should prove difficult to overcome with Bridgestone.

PPS My longest ever post!

i wont argue about ama cos i dont no much about it bit im sure you ment bayliss was a gp race winner not champ, right ?

I don't think it's fair to have a pop at Duhamel before Laguna, he might actually do ok. So he's old(er) and hasn't much world racing experience, Honda obviously want him there to promote themselves and Motogp in the states so I say this is his one chance to show the world what he can do, top 10 will be excellent for him.
Dunno what to make of RLH on the Kawasaki so I'll say nothing.

I have never seen this guy race, still a shame that they couldn't get a Brit on board though.

nope. dunlop is the only tire manufacture that put a real effort into ama. there is no control rule.

Evidently Hodgeson said he was available for the job. Unsurprisingly, the answer was negative.

Seriously though, I want to see Rea get into GP as soon as possible. Too many great riders from this neck of the woods get caught up in the TT, BSB or WSB and want to be the new Foggy. At 19 he's kicking ... in BSB against some serious competition, so, (IMO)he should go for the big one before it's too late.

Yeah but since I've been into road racing, around 1975 or so, that domestic series has produced guys like Lawson,Rainey, Shwantz,Kocinski,Russell,Bostrom, Edwards,Hayden,Roberts,Spies, that have given us somthing to chip in about when we have those conversations. Some down times but it's been a pretty good run. BSB has been down for a long time as far as sending guys to GP and to a lesser extent WSB where Foggy was so great. Most of the big bike countries get their time to crow, right know the Aussies are really feeling it. I think with Grsini they might be looking at someone for next year that can't or wouldn't want to ride Laguna [Rea?] so this is a great angle to take. He knows the track, has a fan base here and could get a good result. Plus as some have pointed out he's a lifetime Honda guy. I was at Loudon when he broke his legs and I never thought he'd ride again,he's one tough Canuck. His family is also kind of Canada's version of the Rossi's [obviously to a much smaller scale] Still pretty cool I think. This is his dad who still wants to ride in the Daytona 200 again so it must run in the family! http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/halloffame...page.asp?id=162

Stick to what i know, coming from the guy who rates BSB below AMA superbike based on the performance of JT, NICE

I know enough about AMA to know that it was once the best superbike series in the world (before the world championships came about), and now is running third in the pecking order. Miguel is obviously an excellent rider, but there is no denying his best has passed, and it was only your comparison to troy Bayliss that i really had a problem with. As if Miguel is as good as a twice world champion and GP winner, not to mention a guy who beat Colin Edwards at his best. Troy also has a BSB title under his belt, something he gained on only his second attempt at the best domestic series in the world.

If Duhamel does ride, it'll definitely be interesting to see where he ends up. He is one of the top guys in the AMA for sure, and knows Laguna very well. I don't think a top 10 is completely out of the question.

They said the same thing about Rog riding the Kawi, and that ended up being confirmed. I think Duhamel will be on there.
