<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (jazkat @ Jun 23 2008, 01:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>im not sure if he used the carbon frame but i am sure of one thing, i think he is now using the electronic system from the gp9 after testing it at catalunya.
you dont go from having setup problems like they were having then everything becomes ok,
they said they applied the 08 settings on the gp9 and got results straight away, im sure they would work vice versa, i think it would have been stupid not for ducati to use them instead of struggling to setup the bike.
stoner mentioned a new electronics system in an interview after the gp9 testing.

yam and honda bet crack the whip before they get caught out for a second time.

stilll stoner put on a great performance today.

Stoner said the new electronics helped calm the bike down a bit.
God knows it needed it. It's been a real handful compared to the other bikes.
Wont necessarily work well at every track though, because it didn't work in the rain and they went back to old settings to get pole.

Last time I checked he's tire contract were up and Bridgestone are leagal to use. What's next?
He's cheating becouse they put an engine in his bike?

We all know who is the pathetic one here lex

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Arrabbiata1 @ Jun 22 2008, 07:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>JT needs to throttle back the slavish PR and promotion. The expectation was way too high this weekend. There was very little prior to Qatar, allowing him to keep focus solely on the race at a circuit he knew. I think/hope he'll be up there next week, at another track he is familiar with and goes well at.

Think you hit the nail on the head here. Even when he stayed on (Friday only!) he never looked threatening and this is a track he knows well. Colin made a good fist of 4th so he can't blame the bike (not that he's apt to do that, to be fair). Looked like a schoolboy error at Redgate in the race.
Sure there was a lot of expectation but my opinion of JT changed this weekend - I mean, WTF? - the guy is 2x WSBK champ and to me at least, it looked like he couldn't keep his head in check. Everyone has off-days but he made RDP and Elias look measured this weekend.

The PR has got way out of hand and I hope he's suitably ashamed of the naked torso shots (ugh) that seem to get flashed up on BBC's titles periodically without warning.
This was the weekend where the 'brand' To52land became a monster. I suspect it's not down to James himself but I reckon his management isn't doing enough to insulate him from the hype and keep his mind on riding the bike.

Probably a good thing for James there's only 1 home race this season.
Having said that I'm sure he will cope better next time after this experience.
Home gp's are tough to deal with.
Oh except for Vale - he's won a few in his time.

We had a nice day out at donny, my thoughts on the day;

Getting in on a Sunday morning is a pain in the ... - the traffic control marshalls are frigging numpties. First time in ages that I've just done raceday.

Coz of the problems getting in, ment we were parked close to the exit............it took us just 5 mins to get out of the track!! F'kin world record that.

The wind and dust was a proper pain - but far better than being piss wet through. Me and Matt look like a couple of lobsters
<

For once, I'd say the Vale fans were out numbers by 52 fans.........the support Toseland had was imense - the crowd noise certainly dropped after lap one
<

Rat burgers were a rip off.

Trying to put sugar in coffee in force 10 gales is a pain.

Nice to see they put more big screens up
<

My thoughts on the races;

125's - SUPERB home grown winner! Scott did really well, he's lap of donny certainly got all the crowd on their feet cheering.

250's - Didnt really get into it.

MotoGP - Yawnfest

Yes I found the wind a pisser yesterday. We got in in about a 20 minute queue and we just missed the start of the 125s (after a slight miscalculation in travel times) but Got to see Scott get into the lead after the leader crashed but heart stopping moment as was a little confused at first as to which rider had crashed but once it all became clear we were cheering our heads off. The kids were jumping up and down and wow what a result!!!

After the 125s had finished and Scott was doing his lap of honour and burning out etc, a man in full Rossi outfit came over to my boyfriend and kids to ask, who (Scott) was and why we were getting excited............what a MotoGP fan ha ha. Even my 3 and 6 year olds know who he is ha ha, with a bit of help from mum and dad.

Toseland fans out in force and I have to say that was really really good to see and although the crowd noise did falter before the first corner (GOd how annoying) most people were cheering him on me included for not just giving up and getting back on and bringing it home.

Obviously Man of the Day Scott Redding what an achievement and I'm really honoured to see his first ever GP win and it being a home one just is the icing isn't it. Too bad some british "fans" didn't really know what was going on they witnessed something quite special and didn't even know it. All that and no champagne, didn't even have that as motivation. THAT WAS JUST AWESOME.

But yeah the main event was dull 125s was definitely where all the action was at, never fails to be an eventful race.

But a good day out, and yeah Ben the dirty burgers are pricey and nasty, stick to donuts lol.

baby wants the 990s back

stoner - he's back i'm afraid
rossi - good but from now on with stoner back on form your team will need to find something extra
pedrosa - wimped out.

as for Toseland, i think this quote "Today has been the most disappointing day of my life as I let everybody down," sums it all up .... if you insist on taking the whole weight of the world on your shoulders this is what happens. Much as us Brits would have liked to see you do well we're really not too bothered and falling off first corner doesn't ruin our day -- just lighten up a little and less of this 'i'm doing it for the fans' bravardary.

The big question is will Rossi now race just to beat Pedro.Casey would just about have to win every race from here on out.The three have seperated themselves from the pack as far as podiums go and im sure Rossi is going to win at least a couple more and probably so will Pedrosa.Lorenzo is the wild card.If he can get back to form and push Rossi and Pedrosa back a few spots in the next few races,Stoner has a chance, but im afraid it will take a dnf on both Rossi and Pedro's part for Stoner to get back in the title chase. That and Stoner has to be close to perfect from here on out.

Rightly or wrongly, I'd be very surpised if Fiat Yamaha will let Lorenzo spoil Rossi's championship chances as the year goes on.

Amazing day at Donnington park on sunday, had a great time in all 2 races and warmups. The 125cc race was probably the best thing i've ever witnessed, a pretty special racing moment.

However at the end of the day i was ashamed to be British. Not only is the last lap of our gp run under waved yellows and in un-necessarily dangerous conditions, we were also robbed of any notable celebrations and clearly had the disapproval of most of the worlds best riders. To top it off fans booed the current world champion, showing the world just what kind of crowd this event attracts. I know they were only a minority but even in countries like Italy and Spain these minorities are easily overpowered by fans who appreciate the sport, not so in England.

Not that it matters, because Casey was in a different class.

Now i'm off to Assen, much love

But most of all, the one suggesting that Rossi won't try to win, in every race, trying harder than anyone can't know much about MotoGP and Rossi. Like him or not, but no one can blame him for not being a fighter. For better or worse he is a fighter.

And Povol, be carefull for what you ask for. JLo could easily take away points from Stoner and Pedrosa too.
Imagine three similar senarios: JLo in a neck to neck fight with one other rider, Stoner, Pedrosa and Rossi. What odds would you give the three senarios?

If his contract was up and he could use Bridgestone's legally, why did he have to go to the governing body to get them?

Obviously, he could not have legally used Bridgestone b/c Bridgestone refused to take him on. So he was faced with stealing the tires he wanted, or cheating. Stealing would have been a lot more glamorous.

Rossi nearly always tries to win every race.

I think all three would be nervous, even rossi to some degree.

I would say Lorenzo will be the de factor for this year Championship between Rossi, Stoner and Pedrobot..If Lorenzo is beyond Fiat control, Rossi chance to recapture the title this year is just like Mc Laren Hamilton vs Fernando last year..
<

Looks like Stoner/Duc/Stone combo is coming back and Pedrobot will have a few more wins this year

HA i wasn't the only one that thought this!

Disappointment at Casey Stoner
MotoGP

23 June 2008 18:00

I was upset to hear Casey Stoner was angry with British supporters for the booing he received on Sunday after his win.

I was there for the whole three days of MotoGP and was really disappointed in Stoners behaviour towards Marco Melandri.

Marco may not be doing well but I think Stoner should start behaving like Melandris team mate instead of shaking his head in anger towards him.

After all, it's meant to be a team effort at Ducati.

Let's hope if Stoner shows more team work like Colin Edwards does with James Toseland then he will stop being booed and be seen as the champion he is

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (xx CURVE xx @ Jun 23 2008, 10:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>After all, it's meant to be a team effort at Ducati.

I'm confused. What's worse?

Sitting up in your teammates line, or shaking your head at your teammate b/c he sucks.

Stoner is a baby, but Motogp is no place for charity. Sports fans can't seem to help themselves these days--every half-assed performance still gets rewarded with a cookie.

What is this, preschool?! If so, when's nap time? Maybe that will fix Melandri's problems.
