Great win by Casey!!
<

He wasn't in danger at all. Finally he managed to win a race again!! I'm happy that he won, it makes the championship much more interesting. Eventhough the gap is still big, he has of plenty time to close the gap.

I'm also pleased with Rossi's result. Today the win wasn't possible. Casey was too good! So for Rossi the main thing was staying in front of Dani. That's what he did, and now the gap is 11 points in the standings.

Man of the race is Jorge Lorenzo (and also Casey I guess). Starting from 17th on the grid, and finishing 6th. He's really a great rider, he just needs to stop making mistakes (like he has been doing the last few GP's).

I'm looking forward to Assen!!

Scott Redding wins today, becoming in the process the youngest rider ever to win a GP - not only in his rookie season, but in only his eight raceat a cicuit he doesn't even know. Not even Vale matched this feat. I was immediately evident after Qatar, that this was an extrodianary talent.

I feel sorry for Ia'no name', I think I heard it said that the wind took away the front on Craners. Nonetheless Scott showed great maturity and composure having closed him down, to sit there with 5 laps to go. Incredible ride, stunning achievement.

UnlikeSimonceli, who I think had the race won without having to make that dive under Bautista at the Esses. Typical Kalio, ice cool, waiting in the wings. Rare to see Alvaro so pissed off.

A better main race than in recent years. Dani has yet to come from behind to beat Rossi in a dogfight...I loved the way Vale came straight back at him in the 'Parkland' rather than the 'carpark' sections - in other words the technical piece of the circuit on which he excels. Ducati have improved the engine characteristics/drive out of corners then, as Neil Spalding pointed out, making the huge torque available to the rider (I use that in the singular sense), kinder and more managable under heavy acceleration.

Without doubt, Assen will be a fascinating race, particularly with Lorenzo reuinited with his head again.

JT needs to throttle back the slavish PR and promotion. The expectation was way too high this weekend. There was very little prior to Qatar, allowing him to keep focus solely on the race at a circuit he knew. I think/hope he'll be up there next week, at another track he is familiar with and goes well at.

Hey has anyone uncovered close up pix of Casey's bike from the weekend. I am looking for shot that show the head/yoke of the bike.

I suspect that he may be riding the Carbon bike. Either way it goes if he was not... Ducati is looking good so far for the rest of the year...

i think something new come out of the catalunya test's i was thinking he maybe using the electronics from the gp9 or like you say maybe he is using the frame to?, we know he tested it at catalunya and his times this weekend were quick off the bat so something is different.

the ducati is a very strange machine there is no in between it either works or doesnt work at all.

whatever he was using credit to stoner for the win and for performing the best all weekend.

these adjustments or parts ducati have added obviously paid off and hopefully will bring him back into the game.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (jazkat @ Jun 22 2008, 03:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>i agree i think hayden done well considering he has only had limited hours on the new engine, hopefully i the next race he will get it setup better so he can go a little quicker.

Dude, Nicky did most of all of winter testing on the pneumatic engine and its chassis. He has done a couple hundred laps on the thing and should know it better than anyone.

Honestly, they guy needs to stop looking at the bike for the problem and more at himself to solve the problem. He rode really really well, but it was like he suddenly sobered up and realized he should not be riding at the front, and then went backwards fast.

No more excuses he has what he wanted in the bike he started developing in winter, and prefered, so now it has to be results result results....

So ive just got back from what was a fantastic weekend. But to my absolute horror, the god damn dvd recorder ( and me mam ) decided to ... up recording sundays live race footage. Did anyone record it who will be uploading online as a torrent ? or know anysite that hosts the eurosport coverage ( or for that matter bbc coverage ... if it really does become that desperate.)

Or needed to watch the race on ....... speed, where they didn't show it till 1pm pst.

JT pulled a Hayden/Hopkins at his home race.

Lorenzo probably had orders from the doctor to take it easy. Concussions are not something to mess with. If they get hit like that in the NFL they make em dit out for a few weeks because if they get hit again it could cause some permanent damage. Good ....... ride though

Great ride by Dovi

Edwards Typical.

Hayden - not sure what to say.

Speis - great showing.

Sum it up, it was a pretty boring race. Rossi dicing with Pedrosa was pretty fun but after that there wasn't much to write home about.

CONGRATS TO STONER for a perfect race.

coughLinkcough

Stoner - had the pace all weekend in wet or dry, maybe the bike is now sorted and you can contend for the win most races from now on.
Rossi - good ride, picking up as many points as possible when not in contention for the win.
Pedrosa - I thought he had a good ride. He at least showed some aggression and tried a few passing moves on Rossi. That's the agression needed to win a motoGP title.
Edwards - good for you.
Dovi - factory honda awaiting you next year where we can see your real potential, which is a lot methinks.
Lorenzo - great ride considering you started so far back and what's happened over the last few months. Doing what you SHOULD be doing in your rookie year. Back at the sharp end next week I'd say.
Hayden - dunno where your head is at anymore.
CV - pass mark. Still unsure about the GSVR or you. I'd like to see you on a honda to see where you're really at.
Westy - 10th is pretty good for you, Showed a lot more pace this weekend in the wet and dry. I still maintain the kawasaki is ..... and you'll cop the brunt of their patheticness.
Spies - great weekend, showing lot's of potential. I hope you get a ride next year, I just hope it's not CV's.
JT- a bit too much pressure from yourself and your fans, creating a less than stellar weekend. .... happens and I expect you to be back next weekend in Assen for a much better weekend.
The rest - pretty standard except DePuniet who kept it upright. About time.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (jazkat @ Jun 23 2008, 01:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>this season isnt to bad so far but i feel the real battling doesnt get seen much anymore, i wish the bikes werent so touchy to setup what i mean is i wish they all had good setups for the race cos i think it makes for closer racing, who ever gets the setup spot on dissapers into the mist.

it was boring when rossi dissapered and its boring when stoner and pedro do to.

i still think they made a mistake doing away with the 990's

its good to see casey climbing the championship ladder i believe it makes it more exciting for all of us

I don't agree with you too often, but I do on this occasion.
We have had 4 winners so far.
3 of those winners have won more than once.
Only problem is, none of them are ever close.
Lets hope we get a few battles for the lead in the next few rounds.
Don't get me wrong I can't wait for each race weekend to arrive, but a few battles like we had between Stoner & Rossi @ Catalunya the last 2 years would be so much better to watch.

can't argue with this. pedrosa can run away at the front but he can not fight.... for very long anyway.

Bozo may have been smiling...but it was still a bone headed and move ....

Mika Kallio needs to get a MotoGP ride soon....bloody cool and calculating!

Scott Redding already has that motoGP look about him! I hadn't thought about the champagne on the podium and his age, I hope he's been allowed to celebrate tonight. Give it 5 years and maybe we'll have a UK equivalent of Lorenzo!

does anyone have a picture of the wheely pulled by Casey for the win today?

HUGE !!!!!

thanxs
