I'm not sure Ducati had many options besides resigning Hayden. Not many others in the paddock are clamoring to ride a Duc nor were any of the rookies coming up seeing it as a viable option (I mean not their rookie season, but looking after).

Hayden is getting as good as-good-as-you-can-get non-Stoner results with the bike. He hasn't failed miserably like Melandri last year. Kudos to him for getting another year and maybe he'll get even better on it next year.
