and now for something completely different....

DP has had surgery to fix the blood flow problems that have been hampering his performance and it seems to have been a success.

Can our resident MD Michael help explain this bit for me...

"At the same time, intraoperative angiography by minimally invasive transfemoral approach confirmed the return of the subclavian flow."

I assume this is a similar procedure that they use for inserting a coronary stent in patients having arterial blood flow issues in that they insert a small tube through the femoral artery to check the flow of blood to the subclavian artery has returned to normal.

Anyway hope it fixes all the issues he has been having.

Incision in the groin (intra-femoral) then a wire (IVU) is wired through the heart to subclavians veins/or artery and one can see the flow from inside.

Hope this help

It really amazes me what these guys go through to race. Speedy recovery to Dani. We need him back asap.

This whole thing sounds slightly hinky. I'd think Peddles would know the difference between a pinched/pissed off nerve and an arm that's 'going to sleep' due to low blood flow. In my experience, the two issues are nothing alike. I hope they really understand what is going on, and have fixed it. We'll see in 3 weeks, I suppose.

Agree.

What Dani did at Jerez, irrespective of the weather, was nothing short of phenomenal. Unfortunately he appeared to be one of the first to succumb to the wet-tyre degradation. It would have been fascinating to have seen him battle Jorge for the win. Some time soon I am hopeful we will see a four way battle between what we once referred to as the aliens and repeat spectacle of the '06 Sachsenring dice which then involved Marco, Vale, Nicky and Dani. The great thing about non-rider affiliation is that I don't care who wins - just so long as it's close and clean racing.

Talking of Marco's - it'd be great if Simonceli could join the party and Spies could gatecrash too.

can this procedure be applied to the blood flow to the brain...if it can, we should make appointments for all the boppers, they are obviously suffering from lack of blood flow to the cranium area

I'm getting wood just thinking about it.
