There's this little pub in Belfast that I visit several times a month, Kellys Cellars. Why don't you meet me there sometime and will discuss with the boys this issue of Northern Ireland and "ownership."

Think we talked about this at Silverstone Austin. Colin was recently asked outright about his role at Yamaha. He basically said that he felt sort of untouchable at Yamaha as they has no one who was able to develop the bike when #46 left ( Jorge included )

He's got a point.

On the subject of the UK, flags, independance etc, can I just say

If it's not Sottish, it's crap!

Sorry, couldnae resist it! It gets more confusing here on the rock, Orcadians dont see themselves as Scots, but more Nordic. As do Shetlanders.

Nae such confusion for me, am a Scot fae Perthshire, and my bikes always have a saltire on the screen.

Peace!

Pete

Well I tuned in to comment that the Bradley Smith to Tech3 rumor is getting stronger...but got a flag lesson...thanks..honestly thanks, I did not know that about the Union Jack.

Chops...I just need to ask one thing off topic...do you get pissed when someone calls you British? I work with a Scott that gets pissed when someone asks if he's Irish.

anyways Will...you might get another Brit to cheer for.

Im ok with it if a non european calls me british. I would not tollerate someone in the British Isles calling me British. If a European called me british id call him european regardless of where in europe he if from cos its the same thing.

Calling a scott irish is very dangrous, it's is to do with the catholic / proterstant thing. Take the troubles in Northern ireland and the Celtic v Rangers football matches for an example. The Irish didnt just flee to America, they fled into Scotland aswell. When i was in America last month i was continually asked if i were Austrailian which started to get my back up but i suppose they may get more oz visiters there than English.

"British" is the inclusive term of the: Northern Irish, Scots, Welsh, & English as I understand it. As I understand it, the 'Union' Jack represents all of these, hence the 'United' Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as the proper name for the sovereign state. Ireland is a completely different proper country. The Irish flag, being a completely other country, has nothing to do with them except that they are adjacent nations. Its like saying you are a United States America who happens to be from North Carolina, so calling somebody from N. Carolina an American is like calling a English man (Or Scot, Welsh, & N. Irishman) a Britain/British. Now your example, calling a Scot an Irishman is a bit like calling a Carolinian a Mexican. Completely different country in the proper sense. Did I get this right you Euros?

Btw, your probably confusing Scots with Leprechauns, who are Irish, a common mistake given their accent.

Are you taking the piss ?

Austin, I still feel ah've got to apologise fir the colour o ma hair tae you!

One o ma favourite moments fae Silverstone was at Arrabs on Saturday. Jumkie lookin confused, an Chops translating words like "Polis" and "ken" tae him!

Quality moment in the international world of Powerslide!

@Jumkie, I'm talking about how some people get offended when people assume they are Mexican, PR, Cuban etc

Ah yeah. That's funny. I mean, I always confuse Americans as Canadians. I sometimes say to people, 'you're such a Canadian, eh.' True story, I often get confused for an Indian (not the scalping kind, the 7-11 kind).

The point being Laverty who is Northern Irish riding under a Southern Irish flag is a strong polititical statement.

Imagine a Mexican rider riding under a Spanish flag !

Love it "not the scalping kind, the 7-11 kind"

Awesome!

I doubt there is a correlation in that analogy. Doesn't make sense. I suspect some Northern Irish still consider themselves Irish. In Mexico, nobody associates themselves with Spain.

And there is the political statement. Ever heard of the IRA ?

It sounds as though Edwards is out at Tech 3 (in his own words, according to MCN), he is not willing to ride for zero salary. I don't know if Poncheral will want to start the season with 2 new riders so I would not be shocked if Crutchlow is there next season.
