As I was typing it, I thought I had seen an Irish flag next to his name for a long time but figured I'd post the story I'd heard anyways.

Its normally quite a political statement flying an irish flag when your northern irish. Then again so is flying the union jack so i suppose it depends on what side of the street your from.

Thats interesting. In my ignorance, i dont like when i see the St George, i pref the Union Jack, as thats what i associate UK. Running the "regional" flag for me (i know its a bit diff) is like Spies running the Texas flag, one reason why im not an over the top fan of his.

Why the hell would they even want to keep Colin Edwards around, this is the same dude that couldn't even muster a win out of the factory Yamaha.

You mean the guy that is first satellite rider every weekend? I wonder if that might play a part...

Apparently Crutchlow does have a performance clause in his contract so Poncheral can drop him if things don't start to improve soon, 2 year deal or no. Bradl will be on either a Honda or Yamaha, that's a given. Dorna need a German for the TV deal. There have also been a couple of 'Smith to Tech 3 MotoGP rumors but I don't think that he's ready, and he's a bright kid and will know it.

Damn, we agree on something!

I think you will see we agree on a lot more, its just that the Pedro/Puig question is one that makes me

Its not the same. Texas is still in the USA. England, Scotland and Ireland are different countrys with our own parliments and laws, although i know your states work in a similar way. We formed a union years ago except southern Ireland which only lasted 1 year 1921-1922. The union is slowly but surely disovling, its out dated . it doesn't really matter what flag you like, it is not my flag ! Im English, not scotish, welsh or irish so will fly the St georges cross whether my American friends like it or not.

The Northern Irish who fly the union jack want to be part of the British union where as the ones that fly the Irish flag want to be part of Ireland, some fly the St Patricks cross. The union jack is sometimes known as the War Flag, ie its used when we have a common ememy which is why soldiers wear it.

The union jack is still officially a flag of the monarch, rather than the Union !

There's a shocker...

He's been kept around at the request of Yamaha. They want him to continue to aid in development work. The only way he leaves the paddock is if he agrees to become a test rider for Yamaha (which is what they want). If he thinks he wants to continue racing, Yamaha Japan will throw him another contract because his developmental skills are that good.

Think we talked about this at Silverstone Austin. Colin was recently asked outright about his role at Yamaha. He basically said that he felt sort of untouchable at Yamaha as they has no one who was able to develop the bike when #46 left ( Jorge included )

But the Union Jack is Not the offical Flag of the union. Its the flag of the monarch. That why it is illigal to fly it out to sea unless its a commitioned ship.

Anyway Tom, you dont even know how to fly it the right way up

Sorry mate, just could not resist.

Well I tuned in to comment that the Bradley Smith to Tech3 rumor is getting stronger...but got a flag lesson...thanks..honestly thanks, I did not know that about the Union Jack.

Chops...I just need to ask one thing off topic...do you get pissed when someone calls you British? I work with a Scott that gets pissed when someone asks if he's Irish.

anyways Will...you might get another Brit to cheer for.

"British" is the inclusive term of the: Northern Irish, Scots, Welsh, & English as I understand it. As I understand it, the 'Union' Jack represents all of these, hence the 'United' Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as the proper name for the sovereign state. Ireland is a completely different proper country. The Irish flag, being a completely other country, has nothing to do with them except that they are adjacent nations. Its like saying you are a United States America who happens to be from North Carolina, so calling somebody from N. Carolina an American is like calling a English man (Or Scot, Welsh, & N. Irishman) a Britain/British. Now your example, calling a Scot an Irishman is a bit like calling a Carolinian a Mexican. Completely different country in the proper sense. Did I get this right you Euros?

Btw, your probably confusing Scots with Leprechauns, who are Irish, a common mistake given their accent.

Good question lol, here in the states you can see that type of attitude amongst hispanics.

I would like to see Cal stick around and I wonder if Yamaha have pulled some shenanigans with the chassis, Jlo supposedly switched back to the 2010 model, Spies says he has no clue what he's riding, and CE is saying the 2010 chassis they are using this year is so much easier to ride. Did the drop off in Cal's performance coincide with Jlo's resurgence? Maybe yam needed some parts off the tech3 bikes and tech3 had to revert to what they had before, I don't remember them having front end issues at the beginning of the season but I have been giving the sitiuation at Sucati all my attention.

Northern Ireland is part of the British isles mate. Southern Ireland is not.

I like Cal, he always seems a happy chappy but lately the stress is starting to show. I would love to see how he performs on a better ride but i doubt we will ever get to see that.

There's this little pub in Belfast that I visit several times a month, Kellys Cellars. Why don't you meet me there sometime and will discuss with the boys this issue of Northern Ireland and "ownership."
