I dunno why but I found this beyond hilarious
Because it was funny. Good one Shinya

As usual, the wildcard will be Fabrizio, who is capable of taking points from Ben,or taking him out. What would be really cool is if they tie and Spies wins the title on wins.

IT COULD HAPPEN

I'll bet my testies it won't happen. After seeing what Haga was capable of doing in race 1. This man will die before another title slips from him.

If Spies lands race 1, which he most likely will. Race 2 got wasabi all over it.

It's all I could think about when I was calculating points mid race. A Spies double with Haga in tow for both races would make it a reality. It's how I see Portimao unfolding.

I wish I could be that optimistic but I remember Bayliss winning by a country mile in Portimao. Granted that was BAYLISS, but I still think that enormous hills on that track suit the Ducati.

We shall see. Spies should be confident though b/c he's seen Portimao before.

It some ways this season will be tragic for whoever loses. Sad for Haga b/c he's been so close so many times. Sad for Spies because he's winning at tracks on his first visit against a much more experienced field and it still couldn't get him a title.

You're predictions scare me sometimes Austin. What surprised me the most is when you said last week for Imola that you'll be interested in seeing what Simonchelli can do in Race 2. You posted it way before Race 1 took place. I still wonder what you meant by that. I think you have special powers buddy

Man can't wait for the next race, 3 weeks is too long!

Sad to see Laverty made a mistake, takes away most of the championship excitement. Though anything can happen. Wasn't it in 2006 when Curtain just needed to finish in the top 8 to win the championship, but still screwed that up? Leading to Charpentier winning it against the odds.

Sykes looked pretty beat up in race 2, any word on that?

Battered and bruised but will be ready for the final round, not that it matters. He has lost his ride and has not been any help whatsoever to the team. They should call up Toseland early and see if he couldnt make a difference.

Big drama on Sunday. Race 1 things got evened up, and had an exciting last lap finish, I was surprised as hell that Spies was able to get right past Haga and hold him off for the win. Race 2 clearly Spies had bike problems, at first I thought Yamaha messed up and made some changes from race setup, or it was their new tire choice. As it turns out, a bad Pirelli. It will be interesting to see if Pirelli find anything wrong with the rubber.

Things coming down to the last race weekend is amazing, and more then likely the very last race.
Haga, ever the challenger, never the champion. Can he do the business in the final races? Can Ben Spies pull the double, and go down as the best WSBK rookie ever? Haga is on the Ducati, a proven Portimao race winner, and hungry as hell for a title. Spies has loads of testing data, a proven record of being able to adapt to any track quickly, and also quite hungry for a title. Man this is great for the race fan.

My god, why do we have to wait 3 weeks for this!!!

Spies has some pretty stacked up odds against him. If he pulls it off it will be one of the greatest champioships ever. If Spies goes 1 1 and Haga goes 2 2 that would almost be unreal. can't say I expect it to happen though.

I'm surprised this thread isn't blowing up into double digit pages. Where are all the race fans

The race two prediction was really just based on the fact that Simoncelli had limited seat time on the RSV4 and, to my knowledge, had not been to Imola before. In cases like that, riders generally improve considerably from session to session. Logic told me that Simoncelli would be at his strongest for race two. Nothing terribly paranormal about it.

That's Nicky Hayden after he did a lap of Indy on a 1908 Indian.

I've also heard he has a broken finger, don't know which one though.

What does that got to do with anything? He put up a respectable ride this season with constant top 10 finishes, maybe not as well as expected but good for a rookie.

Has Spies screwed up the curve for Rookies? Very possible, but the powers that be at Team Yamaha were obviously not impressed. Will they have the Steinbrenner syndrome for the next couple of years where they hire and fire on a whim trying to recapture the magic of 2009.Time will tell. As far as the next race and the championship,Who knows how Spies will react,or Haga for that matter.Would Spies be more motivated to win if he didnt already know that his immediate future is secure in GP.What would he be like if the championship decided if he went to GP compared to the current situation. Will Haga choke, he has a history and the pressure on him is immense. The title is way more important to Haga, Spies has got what he wanted out of the series, an international fan base and a GP ride, im not sure the title isnt more important to his fans than it is to him. It would look nice on his resume, but his resume has gone up the ladder already. I hope he comes out with a win it or bin it attitude, but will not be suprised if his mind is on the last GP race of the season. We know Haga is all in,Ben is a little harder to read.

Although his season wasn't as bad as some make it out to be, he's been useless to Spies and Yamaha in a championship fight. Haga has his tail gunner, Spies is running around by himself.

....unless you count Johnny Rea as a inadvertent Austin.

didnt know fabrizio was that way inclined, are he and DeAngelis an item?

Finally saw races. (Was camping, took my satellite dish, never got it to work, i"m pissed.)

This whole season has been some kind of punk'ed joke on Spies. Reminds me of the Truman show. They keep dangling the carrot in front of Spies, he does everything right, but the universe conspires to take a giant .... on him. Seriously, this title is 3x his; but, somehow he's always behind the 8 ball.

Since day one, he got crashed into by Biaggi, his bike quits, he runs out of gas, invincible Duc tracks like S. Africa & Imola, gets torpedoed by Fabrizio no less, and now a ....... ...... tire? No, no, no, I refuse to believe this .... is on the up and up. Spies has been denied at least 3-4 race wins on all this ......... It’s ....... crazy.

I don't mind the last race hand to hand combat duel for the title but only if it was straight up, this .... has been a season of one guy having to fight one hand tied behind his back. I can't get worked up for something like that, it’s a shame & a sham.

....... Spies now has to win both races, even a 2nd place won't cut it.

Race one: Spies wins. (Rae, you're getting to be useless in Spies' title hopes).

Race two: Pirelli who had previously not taken a .... on Spies was feeling left out, wanting to join the long list of anomalies that have conspired against him decided to give him a "motorhome" tire. Jesus H Christ!

Seriously, should Spies even show up to Portugal?
