Catalunya Race: Spoilers

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Damitspies....

Is that his new name?

(Just now watching a download.)

Had a feeling that something like that might happen; Ben was looking ragged from the start. Still, a blunder like that is not the sort of thing you expect from Mr. Cool.

Feel free to join us Nicky fans in our standard post-race meditation:

"Well, that sucked, as usual. How soon 'till the next race?"

Well this isn't the first time CS has had to bounce back from a bad tire decision, it's going to be interesting to watch what strategies him and Jlo use for the next few races. Does Jlo turn up the wick now that he can afford to lose a few points or does he keep playing it safe, the next few races should be fun to watch. Dovi and Cal continue to impress and Pedro is showing HRC that he isn't gonna be enough when and if CS retires.

Damn Lorenzo has too many electronics, the best tyres, a bike anybody can win on, the fastest bike, ............ and i don't like his personality!!

Other than that he's pretty good, nice job.

Same feeling here... damn, Pedro really let me down this time.

Great ride by Lorenzo, love that foam stuff. Where can i get some?

Great ride from Pedrosa until the wheelie

Another great ride by Dovi. First podium on a yam

Stoner now 20 points down. losing the ground wars will not fair well if he wants to retire at the top.

Cal's 2nd time here so inexperienced but still a solid result . Pity he couldn't get past stoner as i think he was faster today and could have made a push for a podium.

Rossi not looking too bad today. 7th on a dry track i9s an improvement.

and within camera shot of another podium for a good while too..

spies, spies, spies.. man i had such high hopes for this race.. and when he got the good start.. all over the back of pedrosa i was foaming at the mouth.. but used his card a lil too soon, or just outbraked himself.. hard to say.. ya know, a few years ago.. whoever was at the front at the outset had the highest probability of winning, but lately there's been alot of midrace passes for the lead etc.. my advice to spies would be to do what he's always done and let the races come to him.. but you couldnt help but think about the soft/hard tire war for the race.. thinking you're soft is going to go off, you need to push in the beginning etc..

anyway good race.. felt bad for crutchlow stuck behind stoner, but good for dovi.. pedrosa.. you are the GSPOT, (Greatest Second Placer Of (all) Time).. and Lorenzo.. what can ya say.. calm, collected.. came to him.. good stuff

starting to like pedrosa more and more,

no excuses about bad tire choice or anything, just said hats off to jorge and that he will try harder next time.

i really start to feel bad for him. he had his share of bad luck and injuries to make up for the special treatment in 06-07.

hope he will continue to perform this season, if hes not too much behind stoner in the points ,2013 could finally be his year.

this years title will be stoner vs lorenzo

Even though Spies ...... up on the third lap, he at least shows he had the pace for the race... This is getting extremely pathetic though. And Dovi got 3rd >.>

Pedrosa also looked really strong until the end, even if coming from a pedro fan... Great job on Lorenzos part.

Rossi also lacked the pace i was expecting from him this weekend.

And why is this forum so quiet after the race? Was if anything the most exciting one this year.

Its also pretty ironic Spies finished closer to the leaders in this race than he did in Jerez... o_O

Spies and company finally found the right set-up. Just a bit of .... luck. Hope he brings whatever he had today

to Silverstone.

Nice post. Nothing bitchy or spiteful to say. Very positive.

Hey! Who's using Rogers's account?

Why the .... are people continually saying Cal was "stuck behind Stoner"? What ....... bollocks! Any time Stoner is getting beat by Dovisioso on a satellite bike you know he's having some kind of mechanical/set-up issue.... and still he out-rode Crutchy.

Lorenzo - Great race, looked easy for him to turn it up at the end. Cool celebration, like the foam.

Pedrosa - Great race, nice to see him overtaking at the front. Wheelie or not, I think Jorge had the little extra in the bag.

Dovi - Awesome, winning the Tech 3 war right now. Step back to go forward. Fight for the factory ride.

Stoner - Man that bike was wobbling out of the corners. You could see he couldn't ride his pace. With Dani's setup would have won.

Cal - Looks on the ragged edge and out of control most of the time. If he finds the smooth technique at that pace he'll podium.

Good race, and moto 2 was great too.

he didn't look too uncomfortable on his bike when he got pole. was a bit strange to see him not up there fighting with jorge/dani. i still believe he is the fastest rider out there and given a bike that is at least capable of riding near the front he will be up there. but thats not enough to make me think that everytime he is not winning there is something wrong, its still a honda.

hate to say it but i slowly get the feeling we have seen the best of casey now that hes made up his mind about retiring.

i hope i'll be proven wrong, its just that if i compare last year to this year i get the impression he is not riding at 100% anymore.

Stoner getting beat by dovi he has mechanical or set up problem, give us a break maybe his head is elsewhere he looks a different rider since his announcement.

Well done lorenzo I really thought pedrosa had it today.

obviously stoner was faster than crutchy, or took better lines to mess crutchlow up or he wouldn't have finished in front, whether mechanical or not, crutchlow looked to have more corner speed than stoner.. just like spies/lorenzo when behind pedrosa.. just couldn't find a good safe place to pass.. either way good on him for not getting over zealous and just bringing home a good result.. same for stoner..

Stoner gets beat and its a mechanical or set up issue, if it was set up that's down to him, as for mechanical I think the problem maybe his head is somewhere else since his announcement he doesn't seem the same rider.

People have been saying Stoner's past his prime ever since the beginning of his second season on the Ducati. I watched the post race interview and he said with a smile on his face he'd made a wrong choice of tire and that his set-up was not enough to sufficiently overcome the chatter issue. Changes in temperature between qualifying and race were enough that he could not get heat into the tire. To imply after seeing Stoner win two really tough races (including one at a "bogey track) that he's lost the magic doesn't show much insight to the ins and outs of racing. Stoner has ridden really well this season and he makes a bad tire choice and people are ready to write him off. Really? Rossi has looked like .... since he's been on the Ducati and most everybody who knows the history of racing predict he'll come back to form on a decent bike.

Stoner ... write him off at your peril.

It can't be the riders bad choices, or slightly poorer performance-or even far better performances from those in front of him-nope has to be Mechanical, although the other Factory Honda looked pretty good, mind you when you think of Mechanical issue-we usually think of Ducati...... Either way its now Jorge's IMO, too strong, Yamaha too good this year-maybe now the silly season's first crucial race result.

Dovi's ride was excellent, and even though most of us were expecting it, its great to see a satellite bike on the podium in the dry again. Great for Cal too, only the Honda's better drive, and very defensive riding prevented him from getting through on Stoner.

As for Ducati, not too bad, but far from special, and well, probably the most important tests they've had since entering Motogp in the next few weeks, I would say they need to find a consistent half a second on the front runners today, tomorrow and at Aragon....to avoid mass exodus.
