<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Fact remains that Rossi should have stayed out of it and it was you who put him into the picture. Rossi's fans weren't upset that Rossi came second...only about your derogatory comment.
After your first post to Tom [fair comment, too, calling him out for complaining about the direction of the thread], I went back and read the first page of this thread. Rossi had already been injected into the thread by Burky:
"it's a rare thing to see Valentino settling for second"
The very next comment was from Tom:
"Yeah, Vale got out ridden didn't he."
In that context it seems fairly innocuous. But from there Bablefish, then Burky and then Tom started a fire.
Outridden is a very emotive word to use, especially when #46 is the object not the subject of a sentence. In any case I don't really think it's applicable in this situation. Neither outrode the other; to claim Rossi outrode Stoner shouldn't he have won the race?
Stoner rode a faultless race. And in his own words, rode to the strengths of his bike. Rossi was carrying some serious corner speed through the slower turns; looks like it could be Yamaha's big advantage this year (he should be untouchable at Sachenring!). It enabled him to hang with Stoner, even though he was getting killed on acceleration, and put up similar lap times. Well done to both.
Changing gears slightly, does anyone think this year might see a more regimented return to tracks favouring one bike make over another (like the old Honda lanes at Hockenheim, etc)?
