Brno Race Thread

I agree, 125s and moto2 were brilliant.

The moto2 was even better. The worlds tallest 8 year old (Bradley Smith) was very unlucky.

Marquez was showing agression of the hairball variety....weaving into opponent on straight etc

Iannone showing speed and racecraft. I know Krop has slated Iannone as having less of a future than Simmo, but I disagree: I see a big future for him. When he has a competitive package he has no need to override the bike (like CS on the 08-10 dukcati. no?) I think HE will be the next fast italian after Rossi.

and.........................there was also a motogp race; not as exciting as the other two, but intruiging all the same.Pedrosa killed any chance of a great race for himself.Lap times were slower than what he had done , but with higher track temperatures, would he have maintained his previous pace? We will never know..

Stoner is now starting to build a solid lead. If he can get it to 50 pts with 4-5 rounds to go it will be pretty well all over, but we know JL will never give up. Got to admire him for that.

Glad to see the Suzuki competitive, but the riders failing to take advantage. I strongly suspect Stoner could have won that race on Bautistas bike. An incredible concept! Stay in GP Suzuki!

Good that ducati/Rossi are making progress. I am however, waiting for a few diehard boppers to quote that because Rossi was faster than Stoners time last year, that Rossi REALLY is far better ( but conveniently forgetting that Rossi has had the benefit of almost infinite bike re-designs). Who will it be.........................yep ,come on down Talpa.................

No need to wait, just click on Crash.net.

Not to mention the new tire allocation rule, or the fact that most all the bikes are faster than last years

I beleive Stoner had them covered regardless of Pedrosa's get off. Like i said yesterday, Stoner had very good pace during Q practice, had many more sub1.57.500's, even though Pedro threw in a few quick laps

. I also beleive we are seeing a new Stoner that doesnt feel he has to dominate the whole weekend, just the race. You get a lot more ink when you come from behind. When you dominate from Friday through the race, all you get is" Fill in name_ _____ completes dominate weekend. Pedro would have put up a better fight than Dovi or Sic, but would have been a lonely second. Speaking of Dovi, just keeps churning out good results. Congrats to Sic on his first trip to the steps. Who here thinks Spies gave Lorenzo a break. As far as the Ducati improvement, Indy should tell if it has really improved. That track will test the Ducati's percieved weakness more so than the fast flowing Brno circuit

I have no doubt Pedro would have faded towards the end and given the lead casey gained the race was always going to be his.

What might have been if Mike Hailwood wasn't dead and the Beatles were still together.

Well, the thing is, if you wake up a few minutes late and try to join the live feed already in progress, you're ....... I've had this problem before. If you join before the race you're fine, its after the thing starts that you're ...... more than a 2 dollar whore in Thailand.

I have virtually given up on MotoGP.com live feed. I can't even get FP's or QP's to run and I have less than year old Mac's on cable broadband. I know it is not my connection or hardware as I can live stream plenty of other stuff no problem.

1. Considered that. On some level I think when he was younger - there was a certain maveric brashness that compelled him to - in a sense - rub their nose in it - all the guys on the serious factory rides, while riding the piece of .... Ducati. Now, he's shown his mettle, and has the prize seat at Honda, he's strictly about winning.

2. Considered that too. But hard to imagine Spies giving a damn about team orders; not saying it's impossible. Could be simple as his having issues with the pinched nerve he's been complaining about, tho it sure did look like he had the measure of the fading Lorenzo. I'd say he was one cheeseburger short of passing him.

I dont think it was team orders, just being a good team mate. He is not in the championship picture and his team mate is. He will never admit it, but i beleive he made a team decision. At some point,{ like last year when Lorenzo's team mate was trying to run him off track in the heat of a championship battle], you throw the axiom of 'first rule is to beat your team mate' out the window, and do whats best for the team.

Sandbagging Stoner? Must of learnt to play poker.

Commentators said both Lorenzo and Spies chose the extra soft front tyre, a gamble that didnt pay off.

Edit - I watched the leguna race from 2005 and judging from how they looked then to now I'd have to say Rossi, Hayden (and Spies) all look like they need a few cheeseburgers. Its actually quite pronounced how much they have changed from the 990 days.

Anybody see Puig's reaction when Pedro went off?

Schadenfreude can be the most wonderfully satisfying guilty pleasure.

I'm not so sure I agree, Pedro looked to have the field well covered after warm up. Something just went wrong. But we'll never know. It sure would have been better if Pedro would have battled it with Stones, for the sake of the racing (after such a fantastic Moto2 race) MotoGP was processional.

I'm not sure about Spies and team orders. I wouldn't doubt it, but without an real admission, I'm not so sure I would suggest it. But I will say this, Spies, Edwards, and Nicky are the best teammates in the paddock to have given that sort of situation. Pedro and Rossi, not so much.

I agree and so does stoner. In the post -race interview he said he thought dani would have been very competitive in the race as he was all week-end.

After turning to another channel for a couple of laps (my ridiculous level of emotional investment in stoner winning the title this year makes watching the early laps on cold tyres fraught) I found myself not only disappointed at the loss of a prospective good race, but also disappointed for dani who has certainly had his share of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

First half dozen laps were great, but then it turned into a time trial. Casey was brill, anyone else think his style is looking more like Elias ?

Yeah yeah I noticed that Reg.!! They both have two legs and two arms ........ is that it?
