Bloody Tyres

They want competition from other tyre manufacturers and to be honest showing up the other tyre manufacturers is more important to them than what any rider does individually.

Indeed, and let's face it. All this "Rossi wants Bridgestones or else" talk is nothing but GREAT publicity for them. They've never had it so good and by holding out and playing hard to get they're milking it for all it's worth. Who wouldn't?

Well Bridgestone released a statement saying Dorna said exactly that.
You can gloss over it as much as you like but I tend to believe the tyre company. Why would they say it if it was not true. I'm sure 99% of the riders on the grid don't agree with your way of thinking on this issue either.

Well some people on here have been talking about the money. Nobody stands to gain more from this media hype than Bridgestones. Nobody except the people directly involved know exactly what was truly said. You say you feel inclined to believe the tyre company. I feel inclined to believe that with as many media miles as they're getting out of this, it pays them far more to let the speculation run rife that Dorna threatened them with a single tyre rule. Rumours are just that. And people who know how to manipulate the press always stand to gain.

The Yam is now - statistically - the worst of all the Jap official bikes, the average slowest and the less reliable.

I must be getting the wrong results/stat.s then .... all the results/stat.s I've seen this year have shown the Yamaha to be 2nd best bike!! .... they may slip to third after Valencia but we will see.

Where are the stat's showing it is the worst? Cos from what I have seen they are coming second in the Team Championship second in Riders third in Constructors(but that is a biased result because there are 6 Hondas and 4 Yamahas)

I never said he would win, i think they would be honored to have a 5 time motogp champ riding on their rubber... who wouldnt
<

Yeah but they way things are talked about in Motogp fan circles these days if Bridgestone don't propel Rossi to the front .... they will be chastised as worse than Michelin by those saying Michelin are no good. Not good for business surely??

Risky business it seems to me. And I don't think large corporations think much like "die hard fans" ... I doubt they would see any benefit in such a romantic notion as we have the ex-world champion riding on our tyre. I think the reason I raised this is because I perhaps thought like you ... ie. when Bridgestone did not want to supply Rossi I thought "why not!!??" the guy is a legend that has to look good on the books .... but really I now can see why they may not want Rossi to ride on Bridgestones.

I mean look at the flack Michelin are copping as the "reason: Rossi is not winning ...... what will folk say about Bridgestone if that gets worse??

If they took that attitude they wouldn't run at all. After such a successful season if they were thrashed with anyone they would cop the same flack.

I think its been widely reported about Michelin possibly pulling out if they lost Honda or Yamaha top teams. So thats why Bridgestone didn't wanna immediately give their tyres to Rossi.

They want competition from other tyre manufacturers and to be honest showing up the other tyre manufacturers is more important to them than what any rider does individually.

thats right, its not about competition ,its about the world seeing you beat the competition. if they sign rossi, sure he may win but who did he beat. at the moment bridgstone can say "we beat rossi"

I said I wouldn't discuss this any more but.................................................

If rossi has so much power/unfair and undue influence why didn't he stop them changing the tyre rule in the first place?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(gsfan @ Oct 23 2007, 07:22 PM) <div class='quotemain'>
I say give Rossi the Bridgestones on the condition that he stops fingering his balls on camera every time he goes out on the track. Give them a rest buddy!!!
<

And while he's at it, he should stop picking his friggin' nose during post-race interviews. I was re-watching 2003 - 2006 races and Rossi picks his nose in almost every interview.

The camera men should be a little more discreet also. Last race they watched Melandri ream out his nose with a cleanex. Come on give the guy some space!

Rossi though has the sack stretching routine every time he goes on track and the camera guy can't get close enough. Maybe he should have the leathers opened up a bit.

As far as Rossi being a 5 time champ of course that had nothing to do with him being on a clearly superior machine with clearly superior tires that were unattainable to even his Respol team mate. And the only function his teammate at Yamaha had was to test tires for Rossi. Not much of an advantage
<
How things have swung around. He sure doesn't like being on the other end of the stick does he? Well no one else did for 5 years either that's why there is no mercy. I love Rossi and admire his skill, but not the hypocrisy.

good point mike, and for god sake dont stop posting on these threads and leave me to the fanboys. you and bikergirl are the few making any sense to me on this matter.

It is not so difficult unless one does not want to see... Which factory bike has consistently clocked some of the slowest speeds? Which other factory bike has had total engine failures?
<

edit:...2nd overall championship position is surely not the position that bike has deserved on its own... That's only cause Rossi is riding it. Honda also sucked even more than Yam in the beginning, but they managed to show a reaction and have improved, whereas Yamaha could only send a pneumatic valve engine that failed completely twice and is now dumped. I call these things real problems on a bike...

I think conspiracies are less common than people think, and seldom attempted by intelligent people, mainly because successful hidden conspiracies are rare, except perhaps when carried out by ruthless criminal organisations like the mafia or triads. I think dorna are probably intelligent, but I will admit the possibility that they share common ground with these organisations
<
. However I also think rossi changing to bridgestones, whilst not necessarily wise, probably wouldn't require a conspiracy.

Exactly .... its worth more for them to be the tyre that beat Hayden ... and even ..... Rossi!!

Like I said elsewhere, if Rossi stays Michelin, and is losing ... Bridgestone look good.

If he goes Bridgestone and does not pull of the prayed for "resurrection" .... Bridgestones name will be mud.!

But anyway next year is next year ... I thin Pedrosa will be a "power" in trems of points next year he has already eclipsed Hayden this year ...

I would like to complain about dorna manipulating motogp to help casey stoner
<
.

I am led to believe that they provided partial funding to get LCR and casey into motogp in the first place, then effected a change in the tyre regulations likely to help ducati, casey's new team and the leading bridgestone team.

Not only that!!

Why do Dorna allow Ducati to use so much Red!!

nobody else has a chance when the whole bike is red!!

D'oh ....that was abit too Australian a joke of mine.. I kinda intended it for michaelm and his humourous post.

Let me explain:

Some years ago there was a saying here ( that satirically commented on inane differences) ...... " I like Red ones cos the red ones are faster" .... was the saying ... I think there was even a satirical song that used it.

So its a bit of a comment on the whole Bridgestones/Michelin saga as well to me, plus it was in the "ilk" of michaelm's post on false rumour, and crazy logic,
