This is the current odds for MotoGP 2006 champion in a popular betting website.

Valentino Rossi (ITA/Yamaha) 1.50
Marco Melandri (ITA/Honda) 7.00
Daniel Pedrosa (ESP/Honda) 9.00
Sete Gibernau (ESP/Ducati) 9.00
Toni Elias (ESP/Honda) 15.00
Nicky Hayden (USA/Honda) 16.00
Loris Capirossi (ITA/Ducati) 18.00
Colin Edwards (USA/Yamaha) 28.00
Carlos Checa (ESP/Honda) 28.00
John Hopkins (USA/Suzuki) 150.00
Shinya Nakano (JPN/Kawasaki) 175.00
Randy de Puniet (FRA/Kawasaki) 250.00
Chris Vermeulen (AUS/Suzuki) 250.00

Hayden's odds are certainly tempting ...

Pedrosa is third with 9 to 1, those damm bookies are smart !!!

Both of you are right. Hayden's odds at 16:1 are fairly good although we all know anyone other than Rossi is just an also ran. And I wish I could use betandwin.com. Damn US.

I´ve put a 10€ bet on Hayden, the odds are 18 to 1. Couldn´t resist it.

You've gained quite a bit of respect from me Teo. Does this mean you'll be cheering for Hayden this year as well as Dani and Toni?

yeah, probably, actually Hayden isn´t even in my list of disliked riders.

I for one would like to know who is on your list of disliked riders. Here's mine...
Biaggi, Tamada, Gibernau and well those are the only ones I truly dislike, there are many who I feel indifferent about.

Why do you dislike them?

Well Biaggi is a no-brainer, he is so arrogant and his usual "X won because his bike is better" is really anoying.

Sete used to whine a little bit in 2004 about the "Rossi´s got HRC parts and blah" but not as much as Mr. Chattering. This year he didn´t whine as much (and he really had good reasons) Now that he´s gone to Ducati I think I will start to support him, the carbon fibre black Ducati looks mean.
<

For Tamada I really need an explanation, the guys never says much so I don´t think it´s because of something he said, is it???

Although sometimes you dislike someone for no reason, I don´t like Vermeulen and I don´t know why, simply watching his face annoys me.

Biaggi you've got it spot on, the guy is just a complainer. I hate to see him out of work and all but I don't feel too terrible for him, he made the bed and now he has to sleep in it.

Personally, I've never been impressed with Gibernau's riding abilities. I believe the only reason he achieved his success in 2003 and 2004 was first of all because of his good ties with Telefonica as it brought him to Honda machinery and second, he slid into a factory seat after the passing of the late Daijiro Kato. Since that time I have been waiting for his string of good luck to run out and in 2005 it did. I don't see him any higher than fifth in the points in 2006.

Makoto Tamada, it's pretty much the same as you and Vermeulen. I'm not sure why I dislike him but I just do. He never has much to say, he has little to no personality and when he does speak openly he usually has nothing to say bu "I will beat Valentino Rossi." I admire his confidence but it's only happened twice. Good talent, not my kind of rider though. Personally, I wish Anthony Gobert didn't have such a problem with marijuana and booze, he was a great guy to watch on and off the track. Anyone remember the pissing in Hodgson's helmet incident? Classic.

How could anyone not bet on Rossi to take out next seasons Champ, the guy has to be odds on. Think ya wasted ya money there teo.

My most disliked riders

Hayden (cause he gets overhype on here, and have to listern to endless dribble about him)
Biaggi ( same as everyone else )
Vermudlen (endless dribble about him its annoying)
Pedrosa( no personality, boring riding style)

I do like Sete he can be and arse, but he's the only who can consistanly challenge Rossi till now. But I think his days are over now, with bridgestones he will either dominate at tracks or be and also ran.

Hey,

Biaggi I totally agree with is a lost cause.

Sete will be interesting to watch and we should all get behind this underdog esp being on the Duke.

Hayden could be a good bet as Danny will push him this season.

Melandri I think this guy will have more that 2 wins in 2006.

Colin I hope he gets a maiden win.

Tamada, please be fair on the guy he dosent speak English very well.

Hopper I hope the Suzi has major improvments, so would like to see him at the front more, and for him to get nasty.

Marbles,

I agree with you on Hayden, I never liked him much because I always thought he was overrated. He is the second most talented American on the grid, its his bike that helps him alot!! This second half of the season he has actually lived up to some of the hype so he is starting to get sme credibility points from me. If he continues this form then I guess I will dislike him less since realistically he is the only American at having a chance of winning something in MotoGP. Edwards also does but he will have to do more than just finish just outside of the podium all the time.

I don't like Biaggi, I respect his amount of talent and worth in the MotoGP game but I do not like the guy.

I like CV because of his riding style and he is so young and aggressive. I love that about his riding. The kid has talent so I just watch in awe and wish I could do all that.

Tamada can't talk English well.... Then he should talk on the track, and this year he didn't talk much........ Not going either way on that one.

If only Suzuki would give Hopper (The most talented American on the grid) a competitive bike I bet we would all be talking about how he is going to be a MotoGP champion instead of hearing about overrated Hayden. Give Hopper the seat Hayden has and I bet you results will be guaranteed in less than three years!!

Xb

Yeah you are exactly right about Hayden, he did earn a bit of my respect in the later part of this year, (don't wanna say to much about that or I might set Ooost off again)
<
<
But what 3 years or so to get this far
<

For me I think CV now he is at Suzuki and Hopper will earn respect by paying there dews, and we will be able to show there real talent, rather than having charmed machinery ala Pedrosa. I hope they show then get offered a top bike if Suzuki still can't foot it with the big boys.

I must Rossi's took a bit of a dip the other day when I read this

"Italian journalists who usually know these things say that Rossi will not accept this...some saying that he CANNOT accept this because of a contract or agreement with the Marlboro Ferrari team that prevents him from carrying tobacco signage in 2006 in order to “clean” his image in case he joins the Marlboro Ferrari Formula 1 team in 2007."

Here I thought Rossi was doing something noble and not running Tobacco sponsorship for some higher reason. But suprise suprise arsie bloody Ferrari have there finger in the pie, fk I hate that outfit.

I too am a big Hopper fan but I was watching Nicky before John came along so I gotta stick with my guns on that. And all I have to say to the talk of 'he hasn't achieved a whole lot in three years...' is Mick Doohan. He didn't win his first race until his fourth season and then exploded. Hayden has it in him, I've faith in him.

Hayden has it in him, no doubt about it, but the way Honda and the rest of the MotoGP world played it he was supposed to strt winning championships his first year in the championship!!

Doohan did have alot of injuries to hold back his progress I bet if he didn't get injured he wouldv'e had more closely combated championships if not more championships to his credit.

Hopper has paid his dues, for the last 2 contract signings he has had big offers from Ducati and maybe from Honda and Yamaha but he has stuck to the bike that helped him get his career, Suzuki. Also, he has said himself he would much rather win bikes on a bike he has helped develop, GSV-R, than a bike someone else developed and take their credit RC211V or M1.

Those above statements were meant for Marbles and Ooost and other people but there here is for Marbles.

Rossi wanted to clean his image before he got this Marlboro F1 deal. Before the 2005 season Rossi had said he was going to use non-smoking ads and symbols in his private symbol area (where it says "The Doctor" on his bike). He instead ran with Gaouloises ads anyways. Next year with his contract being renewed he went ahead and took the clause in his sponsorship to be with no tobacco sponsorship anyways and he took advantage of being with Marlboro to help himself in the fight against Gaiuloises ads. I know all about this because I did a presentation about Valentino Rossi to my class this past semester

xB

I took it a different way, why was he dumping a tobacco company this year if he was going to F1 next year and have Tobacco sponsorship, It didn't make sense to me.

But reading that article on SpeedTV the other day it appears he wants to clean up his image to be more acceptable to Malboro, which I regard as hardly noble, and a bit money crubbing if ya ask me. If this is the case he is really serious about going to F1.

It baffles me as well. Sorry if I had bad grammar when I typed that last post I was really drunk when I typed that last night!!

God works in mysterious ways, and so far Rossi has been mysterious in his plans for sponsorhip and for his future so we will see....
