Ok ignoring MM who is the best of the rest and why you think that? :D

Don't know who is the best of the rest, but Vinales is a dark horse for me. Nobody knows what has been going on behind curtains in Yamaha team. I do believe he is potential champ material.

Some pundits seem to think 2019 is Dovizioso time. I'm not sure he can handle the pressure, saw him cracking last year. He may be a cool dude, but this kind of anticipation from fans and superiors gets to anyone.

Dovi cracked in both championship showdowns he has had. He will win 3 races or so this year but not be a serious championship challenger imo, especially with what appears to be a resurgent Vinales, a competitive Rins and Lorenzo on a Repsol Honda.

People forget that the only 2 seasons he has bee a championship challenger are when Lorenzo ruled himself out by joining a new team and Yamaha shat the bed.

There are plenty of other riders capable of posting fastest lap times, but when it comes to actually fight for positions and ultimately the lead of the race, only Dovi has been able to take on Marquez the last couple seasons.

Vinales mentioned Yamaha is finally listening to him. This implies they didn't listen before ...

Hardly surprising, they'd take advice from any shop assistant who sold t-shirts rather than a rider.

It's not just them. This complaint has been laid against all the manufacturers. It's a condescending engineer thing."We be educated. You just ride our genius motobike, dummy."

Rider: "Yeah, okay, smartypants, you go turn 1'30"s at Phillip Island on your p.o.s.."

It's too bad Iamapony is screwing around. He has actually beat everyone, when he keeps his plastic-fantastic head on his shoulders.
As fast as the Ducati looks, again, Dovi is probalby a logical pick.
I just don't like Vinales, so it is a strain for me to include him, but I will.
I like Petrucci. He may play.
Lorenzo is a real champion. He will let us know he is around.
The old man, no matter how screwed up his fans are, will still be faster than guys half his age.
Cal loves to ....., and set up things so he looks like he is riding better than his equipment. Judging by MM's times with a shoulder problem, Crutchlow will be in the mix.
I dont' know about Zarco on the new bike, but I like his style. It seems odd to see Pol so far ahead of him. I was never a Pol fan. Maybe I don't know what I am talking about.:p

(I reserve the right to change this list, it's order, or the color of my socks at any time.)

Yup I think you are right, Dovi again will be in the mix, but I like Petrux and hope he pushes his team mate. Vinales, unlike you I do like him, but now in his 3rd year in the shadow of the t-shirt salesman, he's not championship material anymore.
Cal will unfortunately be knowhere this year, but at least I think he'd not fall off the bike in a wild attempt to catch up.
Rossi, ok he's better than half the bums on bike seats (they relly need to get rid of the dross), but I predict another baren year, as he circulates waving at the custard crowd.
Lorenzo, another rider I can't stand ever since he started the Rossi antics in his last year in the 250 class.
Pol Asparagus, well it'll only be a few races before Zarco sorts him out and I expect Oliveira to be snipping at his heels come mid season, then it'll be KTM coming out in preference to the smooth riders than the point, shoot and crash riders.

MM will win again this year.

Speaking of best of the rest. Who here thinks Miller will get shafted by Ducati? I see them leap frogging Peco ahead of him. If that is to happen, I see him back at LCR replacing Cal as the 3rd HRC rider.

Like him or not, Jorge may surprise you.

Maybe he might, but he'll be 4th or 5th come seasons end. The unfortunate fact of any type of sport is that unless you win, then its an exercise in futility. Who would want to be remembered as the 2nd best?

Just because Peco did well in the tests, means nothing come the races

French, British and Portuguese? Don't you have to be Italian or Spanish to win the title? Or at least Australian.

Hopefully not for much longer, its time the rest of the world showed what it can do. I'm getting a bit fed up with Dorna's favouritism to Spain and Italy, by having 4 races in Spain and 2 in Italy, they should be cut back to 1 each and then let other countries have a go.

Favoritism is there no doubt - but the degree to which a rider being at a track in their home country actually influences their number of wins may be debatable. How many Americans have won at COTA? And how many times have we seen a very talented teammate lead a race at his “home” track for 18 laps only to be overhauled at the last minute by three more talented riders?
