Crash.net is reporting that Hoffman is a good possibility to run the new RSV4 in sbk for 09. We all know Ruben Xaus is going to BMW and has had some decent results but nothing that great for as long as he has been in SBK. Now with Hoffman being looked at what do you guys think about it. We all know why he was let go in MOTOGP. Do you think that on a totally new and unproven bike he may do the same by just not feelin it for the day or will he do well?

once a quiter always a quiter...

i have no faith in him at all.

Honestly I think his exit from motogp was blown WAY out of proportion, mainly by poor PR. Hoffman is solid.

He may be experience enough to be development rider. On the hand, Aprilia is not going anywhere with Hoffman and requires top 10 SBK boys to ride if wants to be competitive..

I think R Xaus can be a good asset to the BMW.

Its got to be a tough game to juggle when a factory is entering for the first time or re-entering competition. For one, very top riders are reluctant to take a risk on a new machine so picking up a top 10 guy has got to be hard. I'm willing to guess BMW paid very well to have Xaus. I don't know if Aprilia is willing to pay out a lot for a current top ten rider. I'm guessing if they do get Hoffman they will pick him up for cheap and will let him know they are focusing on a season of development with steady improvement. Isn't Hoffman a test rider right now for one of the factories? I think he could be another possible BMW rider as well, being a Deutschlander.

i respect what your saying mate and i would normally agree. i too was very out spoken of my disgust at him quitting because he had "no motivation" but after reading about the troubles the alice team had under louis dantin with regards to him not paying wages hotel bills ect while spending vast amounts of team money on himself im wondering if i came to the wrong judgement through lack of information. .... that was a long sentance
<

im not sure i would be so motivated under the same circumstances.

i hope he learns by past mistakes and can now re build his reputation.

This a vulnerable thing to admit. I was thinking the same thing too when I read the interview.

+2

He just got fed up with the team and told them to fk off and got fired. While it looks on the outside and he did give up on the company and team, but his reasons are legit. He just didn't want to deal with a team that was run by .... and while he didn't speak publicly about it to vast detail, he did what he felt was right. I do not agree it was the right thing to do, as sometimes you have to take .... like that to help your career. Instead it hurt his career and the view people have of him.

Yeah but still, I think he should have finished the race at least. Then come in, punch Lui in the nose and said, .... off. That would have been classic.

Hey, that's what I have done. Ride as it is your career. If the team is screwing you over, hurt the team in the press. Get the press at Lui's door in the morning. Be the biggest ..... the company has ever encountered. I think it would have gained him respect in a way. Teams and riders would not say it outloud, but they'd all have that thing in their mind of what Alex did.

I always liked Hoffman. He was a good rider, who was quiet and did his job.

Hoffman has been riding the new Aprilia rsv4 superbike in testing. I have only seen small vids of him on it which really sucked cause he is always pulling in the pits in the vids. It will be intresting to see if he does get the seat. I would think if he has been the cheif tester and develpoer he would have the best chance at success with the machine.
