Ricky Carmichael sealed the AMA Supercross class Championship this weekend in Vegas on 338 points followed home by James Stewart on 336 and eight wins and third was Chad Reed by default also on 336 points but only two wins. SX Lites West champ Grant Langston went down in practice with a wrist injury and that was the end of his weekend. The Lites East champ Davi Millsaps didn't fare much better, he went down while battling Andrew Short for the lead and retired.
This marked Millsaps' last ride on a 250F as Honda will move him up to a 450F for the MX season and beyond. Speaking of beyond, James Stewart officially announced his multi year contract with Kawasaki. Chad Reed announced an official contract with Nike that has been hush hush for two and a half year. Reed claims he is involved in some very interesting projects with Nike, could we expect to see Nike motorsport apparel in the future? The biggest news came from Ricky Carmichael, who signed a three year contract with Makita Suzuki. The most interesting piece of that news is that it's for select rounds only. Ladies and gentlemen you have just witnessed a legend's final full season in SX and about to witness his final MX season, what many feel is his bread and butter. Rumor has it RC will be pursuing a four wheel career when not racing SX or MX over the next three years before going full time.
