From - MotoGP News - MotoGP: Injured Espargaro to miss Suzuki's Sepang test

Aleix Espargaro will not take part in Suzuki's private test at Sepang in Malaysia next week following a training accident.

Espargaro was riding an off-road bike near his home town of Granollers in Spain yesterday and, when landing from a jump, suddenly reported pain in his back.

After his immediate transfer to the Hospital Universitari Quiron Deixeus in Barcelona, Espargaro underwent initial medical checks and was kept in for the night under observation.

This [Friday] morning a further MRI reported 'a flexion fracture of the T9 vertebrae but excluded any further complications'.

Espargaro was cleared to return home today and is expected to fully recover after two to three weeks of rest.

Suzuki's Sepang test, to be held from November 23-24th, will now see only team-mate Maverick Viñales and test riders Takuya Tsuda and Nobuatsu Aoki in action.

The main purpose of the outing is to set-up the new unified ECU software for the GSX-RR - Espargaro and Vinales did not try the 2016 software during the recent Valencia test - as well as further work with Michelin tyres.

Honda, Ducati and Aprilia have similar goals for their private test at Jerez next week, before the winter testing ban begins on December 1.

It's funny how a lot of these guys are having stupid accidents in off-road vehicles lately. But on top of their 200+ mph racing bikes, pushing the limits all the time, nothing. Hope he can recover quickly. Iannone is also injured, and will need shoulder surgery... but postponed it until later. Thank you for the news.
