What is interesting is Pramac being prepared to take a role with Yamaha which involves being uncompetitive for a significant period of time, although it took years if not decades to get to where they have been with Ducati in recent years.

Did they have a viable option, not to?

What was told through the grapevine was that Pramac was about to lose their position as Ducati's favoured private team, potentially on par with VR46 and that they would have to pay more, for a lesser package.

I would guess that these teams have financial security above sporting glory in their pecking order. They could also have seen the potential sporting risk of staying, with having two uncompetitive riders for 25 - 26, and an unknown machine and rider line-up for 27. At Yamaha they know how well they can be taken care of, as they have just that experience with Ducati. And at Ducati, they've seen what private teams that aren't as close as they were to the mothership can achieve.

Ducati wanting to incorporate the VR46 team into their fold looks to me as a mainly financial decision, with the brand recognition that goes along with VR46. Time will tell if the big decisions in 24, both rider and teamwise, was a good one.

When TECH3 moved from Yamaha to KTM, it looked as if they were moving backwards in terms of competitiveness. At least to me. That move definitely worked out. Maybe similar will happen for Pramac.

Ogura to Trackhouse - IMHO good move for both. We'll see how it works out. I hope that Ogura has more than just a few months to prove himself in MotoGP.

For Chantra, if that happens, hopefully the Honda will be ... less likely to crash in future years.

Even though Roberts is getting a bit old to move up, I still hope that he has a crack at the Moto2 championship next year. Assuming he's not in MotoGP by some other route - which appears unlikely at the moment.

I much prefer this Simon Crafar moment...

That Crafar moment is one of my most watched youtube clips.

Something about the whole episode and the brutality of Doohan's ride with Crafars responses throughout.

ABsolutely loved the workmanlike manner Doohan goes about it, from the late exit of the garage to the ride itself.

I think it's one of the great examples of how relentless Doohan was as a rider.

He's absolutely on it from the moment he exits pit lane. Love watching it as well. Crafar's reactions are hilarious.

Oh dear, Vinales thinks he may win a title with KTM. Nothing wrong with that thinking, but ... I'm afraid the only record he can bust is the one from 2018 by Thomas Lüthi. (A full time rider scored no points from 19 races, there will be more races in 2025).

Proper old school Italian handcraft; put together with duct tape and a prayer to the pope.
You'd be surprised how many racing machines are held together with tape. When I was at Mclaren, take was used on a considerable amount of bodywork, and I remember one race where they made some modifications to the rear exhaust with self tapping screws!

In other news, Aleix Espargaro has been very outspoken in saying it is unfair that riders like Miller and Morbidelli get to stay in MGP with their performances.
