Things seem a lot less exciting after the previous round, but we'll see. Can a repeat of 2006 happen again?

Rins will be back for this one, hopefully pain free. Also Marc's last race with Honda (barring a reunion in a few years).

Reminder the race begins one hour later to not clash with F1.

Don't do it Rins! You want to be pain free for testing.

If Bagnaia finishes about 3 places ahead of Martin then the championship is decided in the sprint. Bagnaia needs to stay rubber up to win the championship

We should have run a sweep on how many times the press ask Marc about winning the championship next year.

I don't know how many times and how clearly he has to say that he just wants to enjoy racing again before they get the message. Sure, he's so talented it might be that from the gecko, he's winning and showing everyone up. Or he might be just having a nice old time, in a team with his brother, on a decent bike. Finally.

(I read one of those bone-apple-tea things once where the wrong use of words is celebrated. When I read the "from the gecko" one, it cracked me up and I've never been able to use the phrase "from the get go" since).

First mind games of the weekend, Martín successfully putting some psychological pressure on Pecco during FP2 with the tow game. Martín 2nd, Pecco 15th and having to go through Q1 which will feature some tough rivals (Alex Márquez, Marini, Quartararo...) although Bastianini will try to lend him a hand. Maverick breaks the all-time record dating from 2016, and Marc has been pretty fast all Friday long. Mir injured and will try himself tomorrow. Miller having a shocker with two crashes, one a pretty bad highside, but gets himself into Q2. DiGia keeping the good form.

Much as I like Digia, I will be seriously irritated if he ends up being a deciding factor causing Martin to not take the championship. I don't think I could handle another year Smirking Bagnaia with the #1 plate. It's not like I'd boo him from the stands like the Rossifumi, but he just rubs me the wrong way.

First match point for Pecco in the qualy, a first row while Martín finds himself in the row behind who kept being weirded by the front tire (why did he go out with the hard though?). Maverick sets the new all time lap record and has a good chance to join the club of winners on three different brands, if he sorts out the start. Insanely difficult for Jorge now, he relies now on two Pecco errors for the sprint and the race.

I don't understand why Martin tried to qualify with the hard tyre. It's not like he needed it to last for 20-odd laps.

I freely admit that I understand next to nothing about the technical stuff, but even I can grasp that hard tyres aren't as grippy and so you can't corner as fast.

Mir has withdrawn following a crash in practice. I think this guy has experienced the single worst season in history. More crashes than points I believe.

With Oliveira also missing, there won't be a single race with all 22 full-time riders competing this year.

I can only assume he is running low on softs. I am willing to bet this means he is saving one for race day sunday.

I guess I don't really "hate" Bagnaia, I'm just turned off by the excessive golden boy treatment he gets, similar to Vettel at RedBull in the early 2010s. Also, the nickname "Pecco Perfetto" is completely inaccurate. He has made his fair share of mistakes on and off the track.
No matter what happens today and tomorrow, Jorge has nothing to be ashamed of. He put up one hell of a fight.
I see a good chance Pecco seals the championship today. Maverick is gonna blow this anyway, let's not act like this is our first time watching.

Interesting fact. Do you know why his nickname is Go free? Because when he does something someone else would get fined or punished for he gets to go free.
