2018 Moto2 fight, who will be king?!

Good afternoon,

After reading a few comments on another threads on moto2 riders and who may come to contend for title next year i decided to create this new thread.
This year by far Morbidelli deserves the title from the impressiveness of his 8 wins (close to 50% winning ratio).

Moto2 will get a fresh set of faces next year on the title hunt, after the departure to MotoGP of most of the top riders this past 2 seasons.
As a start, many people is commenting for title contenders Oliveira, Binder, Marquez, Lowes and Mir. I agree with that with some small differences but i think they are forgetting Bagnaia and Pasini.

The ones i bet on to be in stronger position to fight for the title:
Oliveira, this guy to me almost looks likes a "Morbidelli2". Very calm and steady and does seem to have a good grip on the bike and category and doesn't crash too often. A few more wins adding on this year's performance make him championship material no doubt.
Marquez, sometimes pure dominance and more frequently crashes and injury's. If he can keep it together for sure he's strong candidate and potentially the one in pole position for the title.
Pasini, he's an old dog, but shown this year he can do the business.
Bagnaia he as been impressive, and i can't see him getting slower next year.
Binder natural talent and fitness combined resulted on the Australian GP performance, hopefully more to come.

Second tier of contenders. The ones i have don't on the speed to adapt to the category, not doubts on their talent.
Lowes, on the past he crashed a lot and damaged his title aspirations. Will he be able to reset his mindset back to moto2 riding style. Hernandez and others found it difficult but Lowes was only 1 in motoGP.
Mir, he is very strong but next year it's not likely he will fight for the title.
Vierge, very impressive on tech3 ... how will he go on Kalex, maybe even better. So worth to consider! :)

Finally, there are a bunch of riders between rockies and more established ones that had a slow performance increase but may suddenly find speed and raise the game.
Navarro has shown some glimpses of talent in moto2, he may improve.
Baldassari/Marini, some evolution but still not enough it seems.
Kent/Quartararo, either improve and survive or bye bye carear. From the pair the only noticeable achievement was Kent's obliterating first half season culminating in his moto3 world title.

Hoping for a another great season next year and hopefully with more riders fighting for the crown until Valencia.
May the best may win! And in my case hoping that man is my fellow countryman Oliveira! :D :D

cheers everyone

I'm hoping it'll be Miguel, 1st season on the KTM and he's doing well, I'd like him to win it.
Binder needs to up his game to get in the mix regardless of the fact he's had a couple of decent finishes.
Lowes, sorry this bloke is thick as 2 short planks, he'll never win it or motogp. Crashes far to often, its as if whatever brain cells he has got he turns them off when he's racing.
Mir, no not 2018, but 2019 definitely in with a good shout.
Marquez is even more of a crasher than his brother and he's had worse injuries, how many times has his shoulder come out?

On balance I really hope its Miguel.

This season is looking to be super tight. Could possibly produce the best race of the weekend at many tracks, especially here. Brand new season nerves will be kicking in. Some new heads trying to make a statement early on.

Olivieras tyre to come in last third of the race for the win.

marquez early pace then fizzles as always.

fenati will continue bullish behaviour marking his territory from the start. Probably a top ten

Would like to see kent near the front.

Remy's been looking fast at times over the weekend, should aim for top 10, but a top 15 more attainable imo.

7 kalex chassis in the top 10. Kalex v Ktm title chase.

Gonna be a cracking round one. Can't wait.

Some of his qualifying antics aside, I have found Fenati's racing etiquette to be completely different to his off-track behaviour/escapades. He's generally a clear racer with a highly entertaining style to watch. I'm hoping that he's able to export some of the insane mid corner speed and spectacular lines that defined his riding in the Moto3 class.

Lowes is very strong at Qatar and COTA and will feature, but not enough to become a contender. I like Binder very much, but will need a year. Kent/Quartararo combination does not auger well imo and were already voicing misgivings about the package before they arrived in Qatar. Bagnaia will win a race and will rostrum several times. Both he and Navarro are tremendous prospects.

I agree with many of the sentiments here having tipped Olivera last year to win the title in 2018. A cool, measured race brain, very intelligent and humble individual and quick. Dovi Mk.II

Beyond this year, difficult to say how the current class of 2018 (those that remain) will adapt to the new formula.

My money is on Oliveira and I hope he does it. I think he is an excellent talent.

Race at sunset which(IIRC) is going to rapidly cool. Surely it's gonna cause a lot of crashes?

Good race. Sucks the pack got broken up first lap, but battles all around the track.

Bagnaia masterclass. Couldn't fault him, metronomic pace. Baldassari hung with him, but not enough.

Marquez done well. Unlucky with brake failure, could have been fighting for top step.

KTM has work to do, though only race one. Binder was aggressive looking good.

Well done Remy. Picked up a few positions late for a 12th.

Moto 2 doesn't have the grunt to drag it to the line so the pass was crucial. Block pass, but maybe should have brake checked Pecco.

Lowes - mechanical.

Romano Fenati will be interesting to watch this season, very talented but a headcase at times.

And pecco seals the deal. Kudos to Oliviera, but not to be. Liked the livery change on the 42 machine, they just couldn't start it again to bring it to parce ferme.
