I think going into 2015 the only rider who can beat MM is MM... I think it is still going to be his championship to loose. I would like to think that the Yamahas will be able to close the gap, but there is little evidence to suggest that will be the case. As for Ducati, Dall'Igna had all of 2014 to get ready for this season, however the GP15 seems to be delayed until late February, so its boom or bust for them this season.

I'm starting to think that GIGI knew the gp15 was always going to be very fast and kept it hidden away until the last safe moment so Honda and Yamaha could not throw the kitchen sink and budget at development to catch up.

How can anyone discount Rossi as a very real potential winner, he is the best EVER, last year he beat Lorenzo, which no one expected, except me.

Give him a reasonable bike and he will carry it over the line if necessary.

Cheers

Looks like I'm off to a great start. :)

The Ducati is fast in a straight line but does not handle (as always)

The others will catch up with speed and keep the handling.

cheers

Daniel

Ducati doesn't handle?!?!?!?! Are you mad

What do you mean ducatis don't handle (as always)
It's just having the experience of the track and the right line.
Watch the race again and that thing handles just as good as the M1's right now.

The Ducatis were infamous for understeering for years. Everyone who rode them said so. The current iteration of the Ducati as re-imagined by Gigi is a whole other beast. Dovi said in post race interview that the reason he could not overtake Rossi at the end, what that the tires were too worn. Question is: was Rossi's advantage due to choice of tire? Or was it that Yamaha (which due to it's handling) conserves tires better. The Ducati having all that straight-line grunt - can also make it harder on tires, hence the age-old wisdom that sheer horsepower advantage and top end speed is not always the answer. We've seen it time and again. That's why in the past Lorenzo repeatedly beat riders on faster bikes, because he was from the two stroke era where smooth breaking and maintaining more corner speed were the anathema to the Superbike point and shoot style of riding. Time will tell if it will be enough to keep him competitive as the Ducati becomes increasingly refined.

Maybe I am mad, but I'm not stupid, I have watched the race three times, the Ducatti becomes unstable as soon as it is not straight up.

It's the setup that makes the difference in stability.

If you think the ducats are unstable I think that you should watch the suzukis going in and out of turns. Still better than Aprilia.
Poor Marco and Alvaro

Well I was right so far. :spin:

He's only won the first race but if MM keeps riding too aggressively and braking Aprilias than yes Rossi will be the fan favourite for sure which I have been waiting for since his last title when Jorge came into the picture.

Who will their respective battles and rival, and the title....?

Post your predictions before 2015 testing starts...

Overall?

1 - Rossi
2 - MM
3 - Dani

Yamaha will come back with a good package to give just enough more of an edge over MM...Honda always strong will keep giving MM what he needs, but at the same time MM will be more beatable mentally....Rossi will hopefully then take his 10th title...

Battle of the Satellite Hondas - Scott or Cal?
Cal
CC will take this battle due to experience, but Scott shouldnt be to far behind coming within a place or 2 vs Cal in overall standings....

Battle of Open Hondas?
1 - Jack Miller
2 - Laverty
3 - Hayden

4 - Karl
Miller will get lots of backing from Honda, so any issue with his will be sorted out fast for him. Also, he is young and hungry to prove he is top dog in this class...like Scott in 2014, Jack will rise above the others here....
Hayden would be second, but that wrist is going to keep being an issue and a worry for him and Aspar....
Laverty will be fearless and do his best to impress and get a better ride in 2015, and so will beat out all but Jack

Battle of Satellite Yamaha?
Bradley Smith
Not because Bradley is much better than Pol, it will come down to Pol pushing too hard and crashing lots .... all in an effort to prove he deserves a factory ride in 2016, and that he is as good as MM (which he isnt)....Bradders will calm down and be consistent enough to win here, but it wont save him from being moved to open class in 2016...

Battle of Open Class Yamaha's
Stefan Bradl
No question Baz wont adapt very well to GPs and will rival no one in points on his license in 2015..Bradl will be his usual calm boring self to beat his teammate.

The DUCATI Battle
Dovi
My heart says Iannone, but my head knows Dovi will be in top 6 in 2015. Crazy Joe will surprise the field with a podium or 4....

Battle of the Open Ducatis
1. Yonny
2. Hector
3. Mike

4. Dani P.
This is the group to rival the Suzuki and Aprilia back markers...

SUZUKI Cup
Maverick
Maverick will win by learning all of 2015, and preparing for 2016+ Suzuki see him as their future not A. Espargus....Aleix will ride well but be frustrated by lack of power, and will make more than a few mistakes taking himself out....unless Baz does it for him first...

APRILIA Fight
Marco
Just cause he wont push since he doesnt to be in GPs, and so if he doesnt push he wont crash and though I am sure if he has a choice he will jump off the bike and let it slam into the wall....
The others will just be there for laughs.....

Open Class Title Winners
1 - Miller
2 - Laverty
3 - Hayden

This class will finally be owned by Honda....

Any other Battles and your predictions?

Since there are few members going round saying they are right they are right....I though I would show you how i was right....and might even has predicted things before them....

well i am getting some right and some wrong.....not bad though for a prediction made on December 11, 2014 :)

Cheers Migs, you're an Angel

I'll grade you!

Overall - You have Rossi #1 but JLo nowhere in sight; I'll give ya 50% now, 60% if Rossi wins.

Satellite Hondas - 100%

Open Hondas - Miller on top, yep. Still conceivable Hayden could beat him, yep. Laverty nowhere; 50%

Satellite Yams - 100%

Open Yams - Ouch, not even close; 0%

Ducati Factory - 0%

Open Ducs - Petrux fooled everyone, the rest of your order was correct; 60%

Suzuki - 100%

Aprillia - Analysis right, pick wrong; 20%

Open Class Winner - Looks like Baz by a mile, maybe Hector; 0%

Overall grade 48% - Failed.

In the UK 48% is a Pass.....So i'll take it....

So long as Rossi wins the title, Miller beats Hayden, Smith tops P.Esparagus, and Iannone bests Dovi....then I can live with my prediction being less then 50% right....

Lorenzo will come back in full force and will win the title.

Congratulations to shovel!!! The one and only predictor of a JLo championship!! On December 13, 2014 no less. Cheers shovel, you get a powerslide beverage of your choice!

(And who says paddock workers don't know ...., even if their off-time is spent wisely!!)
