Mike, you're right that Pov's trifecta of opinions can be totally unrelated. I'd say its coincidental.
I think Edward had a decent post, in that he mention, its the characters of these riders that we talk most about because, well, its fun. That is if we were actually going to be posting seriously on this thread. I'm not sure what field McKenz came from though to create this thread now, since nothing in the news sparked it, but then again, I suppose its all for the cosmic balance of it all, considering Mental's lame attempt at a pseudo-predictions thread.
Stoner fans have bragging rights. No doubt. He's the champ and the current man to beat. And at the moment, the fastest man on the planet. Now, I have been hearing this indictment about Stoner's whining for a number of years. Some of which, I'd chalk up to the Rossi mind-game Rossi fan rivalry, as you suggest. But, I've detected this mild flaw in Stoner really accelerate this past year. I don't know if its because of new pressures, or his new status, or cockiness, or vindication/vendetta aspect of it all, etc. etc., but the increase is real! Now another thing I've notice is a number of his fans turned into exactly, and in some cases much much worse, than what they had previously opposed in fanmanship (if that's even a word). BM calling out Talps, that's actually hilarious, because Talps is a good example of what Mr. Squigz, Mental, and few others have become. I didn't really put BM, Scotty, or Pinks in that category, and in fact, I have more respect for them, because they've always been the mirror of Talps, no holds bar fanboy; but these neo-boppers, like Squigz & mental, and a few others (I'll remember their names as they pop up), they are way worse (Btw, Pov and I's exchange is something different, he just resists change our of fear when he, understandably, doesn't understand what's happening). Why? Because of their blatant hypocrisy, or should I say, hypocrazy. They simply can't accept absolutely nothing, in the most mild, said bad about Stoner. Why? Why? The dude is badass with a mild speaking flaw, can't we all let it go at that, accept it, and move on? That is were they went crazy! I'd say, this is 'the single most contributing factor' to the contentions vibe around here. (That, and my constant egging on for my personal pleasure). That is where they have stepped into the real of neo-boopers, except, like the which hunters who came here for religious freedom, became fixated on narrow-mindess. I like to wind them up. Why? because they're plum crazy. The good thing is, there still some surviving respectable Stoner fans, yourself, Friz, Gaz, Baf, etc. This thread really didn't deserve a serious post as much as the ........ prediction thread didn't deserve one. I was happy we were talking about midgets (yes, still evil) and roller coasters, and the birth origins of AC/DC. That's where these threads belongs, in the realm of ........ and slap-stick comedy.
Now, lets get back on topic.

You know that I agree with you that past ridiculous criticism of stoner doesn't justify current ridiculous criticism of rossi, and I have in fact been flamed for saying so. I also don't deny that Stoner whinges, my position being that he is not the only one, among the field or even among the greats of bike racing if he eventually is numbered among them, who does.
Obviously I don't have complete insight into the degree of my bias, but it is not usually my intention at least to bash rossi, and on some of the occasions I have been accused of doing so by the likes of talpa I was merely pointing out that rossi had done similar things to stoner, which as someone familiar with logic you will understand does not necessarily imply disapproval of rossi's behaviour.
I am definitely a passionate stoner fan, but mainly like you post on here for fun and the love of an argument, my reaction to the jerez torpedo which was possibly influenced by the curdling in my stomach of a rather good pinot noir being the only time I have been genuinely upset.
I do commonly defend stoner in the face of absolute untruth when combined with nastiness though . Mcknez's initial post I took as mainly fun, and "...-for-tat " as you say for the phony predictions thread. It is when people became serious and nasty about a thread which was silly ab initio, and a responder of a particular allegiance was criticised rather than the initiator of the thread who had apparently been totally reasonable that I became involved. I don't think Mcknez is a nasty guy but if serious he is either not very familiar with critical thought or language challenged, which I obviously would also be in any language other than english. The reason he had to post footage of a cart race to find an example of what he considers stoner's attitude and behaviour to be is because no footage of other than impeccable riding behaviour from stoner during races when it counts exists during the last five years, and it is necessary to go back to 2006 to find an example of even a riding error by him which has contributed to harm or significant disadvantage of another rider. Apparently the 2 genuine videos of stoner, one in which he was the remonstrator and the other the one being remonstrated with, were also both indicative of stoner being like the cart race guy despite being opposite cases.

The cry "No spoilers" is just some wibbers way of trying to impose their life on yours. In this case Jumkie is just pissed with you so is trying desperately to score some more "internet points". If he had a real interest/passion in racing, he would not give a toss when he heard the results, just so long as he found out ASAP.
