<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (johnny @ Oct 21 2009, 07:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Oh that would makes sense I guess in the 1930's when farmers used the horse to draw the plough but not now, when dare I say every farmer has a tractor and probably 90% have big .... off tractors with 4 to 6 spotlights. How do they make out it saves energy? If it gets darker earlier it also get colder and people turn on lights and heating earlier wasting energy. Anyway thanks Marijke
. I'm just pissed becasue I dont get to do as much offroading because its dark when I go to work and its dark when I get home
Actually - if you think about it - not waking up in the darkness means folks aren't turning on the lights in the house, the barn, the work-yard etc. That alone is a huge energy saver when you multiply the number of farms. When I was a kid I worked on a dairy farm for 4 years and I remember the first thing I did in the morning (because it was so cold) was to throw on the electric heater to warm up the room when I got out from under the covers. Later when the sun came up and the heat kicked in - electric heaters weren't needed.
