I think Donny has a bit of nostalgic significance not so much because of the lack of close racing you contend; but rather because of memories associated with its years of service. To be fair, Silverstone hosted the Brit GP in the late 70s-early 80s. But for me particularly 80-90s at Donny, and the time Roger busted open the fence, those are pivotal memories.

I agree that Shivertone produces better racing. I've never been to Donny, so I can't speak to its facilities, but I've never give two ..... about that. Shivertone is world class. The circuit itself is marvelous. It allows the bikes to be more on the gas at speeds which they are designed.

Surprised at the 05 winning margin , must have been the violin concerto across the line!
I do agree Silverstone is more suited for outright speed, however racing isn't just about speed it's being fastest around the track,if Donington does indeed become the home of the British GP again, considering they must improve the track for homologation, I'd like to think the circuit owner will also address the unpopular car park section. Perhaps even run the track backwards.

Not necessarily. You can simply upload it from your hard drive using the attachment (paperclip) on your toolbar.
Ethical considerations aside - it's three decades later. What of those inadvertently captured in photographs and social media dissemination in the digital age that we live in?

The astonishing thing about this ride for me is the little known fact that post race, Valentino rode a road bike in torrential conditions all the way up the M6 to Cumbria.

Even less well known is that his hands got so cold he had to stop at a Travelodge to dry his leathers , continuing the journey in the morning

I love Brands, its the nearest decent track to me, aalways got my cb5 sidewards going round druids, all those jockeys on their pathetic sports bikes lol.

Druids is awesome. Come up here - I'll follow you and watch you do the same around the Melbourne loop. I'd say Clearways and Clark are the place to really step out the rear at Brands.
Best circuit in the country by far. Wonderful setting in "the garden of England", Sheene cut his teeth there - saw him ride it at one of the Trans Atlantic Trophy races. Managed to persuade my Dad to take me since we were living in London at the time and he'd already taken me to one at Mallory several years before and although he wouldn't admit it, clearly quite enjoyed it. Would love to see GP there. Historic, beautiful, and a real riders circuit.

I'd love to, but I'm told no more riding as my wrist/arm is well and truly buggered now. There were 3 breaks in my radius and 2 in the ulna, all the tendons on the upper side of the wrist are broken (ie they can't be rejoined as they shredded) and the 8 wrist bones because of it have dropped down to the front (where you feel the pulse). I'm off to London next week to see a specialist (he's already seen the botched attempt at fixing it and he's said that he wants to see if there is anything that can be done) Then of course there's my better half to consider, she has supported me in my riding for 39 years and she's at the end of her tether, as it seems every escapade I get involved in gets worse each time injury wise.
I have 2 bikes that are part of my retirement plan to rebuild (a 75 CB400/4 and a 67 Norton Commando the 750cc engine).
I want to enter them in shows eventually, but I'll not ride them, more than likely trailer them everywhere.
BTW loved the YouTube vid, it was Sheene who really got me interested in racing, and the commentary by Murray Walker who was himself a racer in the early 50's
