WSBK/WSS - Assen - Practice, Quali, Race

Win it or Ben it?

He races like Schwantz but he doesn't have Schwantz personality. He needs to stop crashing or he needs to do more PR work.
<

Race 1 was a classic, though. What kind of sickness is required to go through the fast right-hand kink without lifting?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919589

something like that
the activex pics on that link i got them and it installed a new
DRM plugin thing.then i could watch WSBK

Microsoft Windows Media Digital Rights Manager (DRM).

i think its all to do with the content on WSBK stream being protected etc

Race 1, Most assuredly the best of the season so far.. that was awesome.. and will be on the DVR for a while.. that's the type of stuff that get's new fans hooked.. nothing like jumping off the couch for some racing going on what 10000 miles away?

Race 2 Too bad for Ben, I won't be mad if he doesn't get the championship this year although it would be quite the feat, and i'll be rooting for him.. but good racing from Smrz and Haslam.. and congrats to Nori for facing the demons of assen.. I bet he had a Bruce Lee in the mirror house moment
<

Thank god for Ben. If he wasn't in WSBK Nori would have won every damn race so far, he is having one hell of a season. I wonder if he found something over the offseason or if the Duc suits him. Is the Duc really that much better than the Yamaha. Nori's poise, pace, and complete race package has got me very confused
<
What's going on??
<

Race 1 has been one of the best races ive seen in a while, its just too bad ben went down in 2 if Bayliss was still in the mix it would be one hell of a series

Wow, incredible day of racing for the fan! 125, 250 were not bad. MotoGP was downright exciting for once. Then WSBK and WSS had some excellent racing!

WSBK - Race 1 :
Wow, what a race, I will have to hand it to Spies, he really wanted that win. I have to admit, he looked like Haga out there (the old Haga that is), willing to hang it out there and push for the win. First the pass on Haslam, which I though would end in tears, but both guys remained calm, I can't believe Spies held it thru. Then of course the pass on Haga, wow, one of the most exciting finishes in a long time. Haga of course more then happy to see him pick up 20 pts for 2nd, and I was thrilled to see Haslam do good once again. What in the hell is wrong with Ten Kate, the new Honda boys of Stiggy are killing them.

WSBK - Race 2:
Unfortunately they didn't have the camera on turn 1 (strange as they did nearly all the rest of the time) when Spies went down, not sure what he did, tuck the front? At any rate, sad indeed, as we missed out on what could have been a repeat of race 1. Spies will need to get sorted this sudden crash issue as the points loss is massive. Still he is doing above expected for a rookie. Haga looked solid as can be, the Ducati and he are more of an amazing match then I had expected. Fabrizio is fast as hell, but he always looks on edge and slightly out of control. I secretly was happy to see him mess up and let the very deserving Smrz pick up a podium, great to see him on the rostrum finally. Loved Smrz post race comment basically saying, .... you all, see I can race fast too. Haslam, again this guy is impressive. No one expected him to be top Brit, keep up the great work.

WSS -
Wow, what a race, I would say a very close 2nd to as exciting as the WSS race was last year at Assen. I hate to admit it but Crutchlow messed up a few times, his inside pass on Foret somehow disrupted Pitt (not sure how), and screwed up what could have been a 6 way finish. Nevertheless, great final dive by Laverty, Lascorz was not protecting his line in the final turn and Eugene slipped right in there. Exciting race the whole time. Assen is high on my list of European tracks I would love to see.

He was poring over sheets of data like some junior accounting clerk at Ernst & Young. I'm amazed he didn't have an in and out tray

Typical tuetonic efficiency. Is this what bike racing coming to?
<

Hahaha, too funny Arrab, your observations crack me up. I was thinking the same thing, they could probably do open heart surgery in that BMW garage. Zee Germans, gotta love em, clean and efficient.

Well well well. Haga just gets stronger and stronger this season! Maybe it will finally be his turn. More speed from spies, which is great but he's starting to slip into the inconsistency that plagues most of the SBK grid.

Laverty wins again!! Good stuff, but whats happened to the Ten Kate team? (in all classes). UK riders 1 and 2 in the standings now, i love it.

Ben touched the grass and lost it and highsided....sucks could have been another exciting race. WSS was fantastic!

Mari..i was going to come out to the race this weekend.... I'm am really kicking myself now. I went partying in Luxembourg and was too tired to make it out on Sunday. NEXT YEAR!!

I was wondering exactly what had happened. His bike went tumbling massively over and over and ended up going over the fence. That's strange he would hit the grass there as its at the end of the start straight, I believe it was turn 1? At any rate, bad mistake, hopefully he can get over this and keep his confidence high.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (povol @ Apr 26 2009, 06:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>What a race. Spies for the win on a last lap pass. Its almost like he toyed with Haslam and Haga till 3 laps to go.He went from 1 second down in 3rd to 6/10th down in second to 2/10ths down in second to pass and win in the last 3 laps . Head games maybe, push Haga from behind and hopefully force Haga into the old Haga.

I don't know . . . In the post race interview when asked about the last lap pass - he said in so many words that it wasn't really calculated and that he shouldn't expect to pull stuff like that out of thin air - at will. I got the impression that Haga and Haslam really made him work hard for the win. Sure looked that way to me as a spectator. I'm still marveling over Haslam's riding on the Stiggy bike. That kid is really shining. A better racer than his dad who always made great starts and then immediately faded to mid-pack.

Was anyone watchng this!!!???

Jeez, that is one of, if not the the most incredible moves I have ever seen at Assen.

The glorious old original section of Assen, the final turns, it builds and builds and builds, and how many race finishes are decided at that final chicane?

BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE ATTEMPT THIS AT HOGE HEIDE

Sheer brilliance.

Great ride by Leon btw, after he was nearly taken out by Neukirchners runaway zook. That Honda front end looked planted..a memorable first podium for Stiggy Honda.

Another great installment from the WSB script. Can't wait for the next page..WSS

Ben needs to be in controll. It's better to collect some points than bin to the grass..if like this Haga will win the championship even before the penultimate round !!!

WSS was incredible. Crutchlow and Foret kept scrapping, but it ruined the pace. Too bad Pitt went down and Westy ran off.

I've got to give credit to Lascorz though. Not only was he able to hang with the Honda and the Yamaha, but he exercised discretion in the end. He had Laverty and Crutchlow breathing down his neck. I'm glad he decided to get out of the way and live to see the next round.

For the sake of great racing we all hope Spies can keep it together. Haga has been very "un-haga" this year, staying smooth and calm. I think he may have visited some hidden Shinto shrine, where the master taught him the ways of winning. Or maybe the Xerox Ducati and Haga are just a great match. So far he looks unbreakable.

I loved the parc ferme shots of Haga after race 2, Tardozzi was talking to him about how he was asking him to slow down at the end part of the race when he had a considerable lead. Haga just shook his head, no, no, no.
<

Missed the second race, but holy .... the first was amazing! Spies has really taken the series by the scruff of the neck, he may not win the title his year, but the guy has got a future. Looks to me like we may be watching the next American World Champ.

Haga?, I did say in the off season that getting the factory Ducati, the title was his to lose. Hopefully Spies will get the consistancy to make Haga work for it.
