I have argued previously though that one of the reasons there has been closer racing in wsbk in recent years is that the riders are more evenly matched than in motogp. As you say there may now be someone in ben spies who is significantly better than the competition and capable of being dominant on a good bike. If so I will applaud him for it, and hope that he goes to motogp quickly to compete with other riders of his calibre, although I wouldn't object to him staying in wsbk and rossi, stoner et al moving from motogp to race him there

Jorge, will replace the smuck at HRC/repsol next year! The smuck and his man lover will be a Suzuki for 2010. Tosland back to SBK for 2010. Spies getting one of the two vacated seat at Yamaka.

I am surprised that you are not objecting to race 2 on philosophical gounds; it looked remarkably similar in terms of the performance of the winner to the qatar motogp race last year (or in 2007 for that matter) to me

I was afraid Spies was going to get to WSBK and check out like he did in the AMA. Him and Maladin would finish half a lap in front of everyone else. Made for some pretty boring racing that's for sure. Spies belongs in the GP's that much is obvious. Let's hold judgement for WSBK championship chances for this year after a couple more races.

Wow, how impressive is Spies? No doubt about where he's heading. 2 poles - 3 wins out of 4 races on a new bike on new tracks.

If Nori doesn't pull something out its all over. That ....... good. Nothing else to say.
Except the WSS has the best (closest, most exciting) bike racing world championship going.

Doesnt Ryder,Moody and Mamola do GP and not Superbike.The Eurosport announcers i heard were Burnicle and Whitham,I think.All the brits sound alike to me

Great to see Spies do so well, that's three commanding race wins in a row. As it was mentioned before, Valencia is going to be a huge challenge, it's a completely different track, tight and technical. It will be a real challenge for him.

Biaggi certainly does look like Pedrosa, not much of a fighter. Is it a coincidence why Pedrosa runs the #3 as well?

But still, impressive showing by Aprilia with Biaggi's two podiums and good showing by Nakano.

True the 2 races at Qatar were filled with little excitement, but Qatar is a fairly boring track to begin with and I don't feel it lends to much close racing. Also keep in mind some common front runners like Corser and Xaus chose to play development rider for BMW this year. Guys Max N and Rea also should have been up there but seemed to have a few troubles, and what happened to Smrz in race 2, not starting from the grid?

Now in regards to all this talk of it being a potential boring, run away season, keep in mind this is WSBK, lots more racing to come. Anyone remember 2002, when Bayliss was winning nearly every race then Edwards made his famous comeback for the title? That was one of the best seasons ever yes? Let's not jump to conclusions yet, anything can happen.

Can't wait for Valencia.

It's not Moody, Ryder and Mamola who commentates SBK on Eurosport, is it whitham and another dude, anyway, it sure isn't the hysterical clishe machine J. Green.

Spies was tremendously impressive and I enjoyed watching him. If he is good enough to be totally dominant, which I agree cannot be concluded yet although it would not be surprising, then that is the way it is and all credit to him, and I will still enjoy watching him ride brilliantly.

I was being mischievous and suggesting some people (not you) were inconsistent in their attitudes, but I probably shouldn't have brought motogp into a WSBK thread. I personally freely confess to being a fanboy; my first preference is a close race won by the rider I support, but a not so close race won by the rider I support is a strong second preference.
