Whats really happened is he is a fool for ever thinking he could compete with the factory race teams. His bikes are slower than Superbikes.

I read somewhere that snr said that he wouldn't have jnr riding the bike they had for free, so he put Kurtis on it!
Snr also said that they were waiting for a new chassis before he let jnr back on the bike.

podium'd twice in 06 and almost won in estoril. finished out of the top 10 only a couple times IIRC. also, qualified #2 at sachsenring. that's staying pretty competitive and even placing better than a couple factory teams.

all bets are off for 07 especially now that kurtis is in. senior said they haven't had a single update to the engine since they got 'em preseason.

i'd hesitate to call either senior or junior a fool. especially since senior's won multiple titles and kenny has one as well.

It seems KRJR has said he cannot take the bike any further in development...so he is sitting out until either Honda or Team KR give him something to move ahead...basically, he is tired of racing to be in last place everytime...and it is being rumoured that he may retire this year....

Which is fair enough, it's sad to see a rider like Jnr coming nowhere.

Shame he misread the pit board in Estoril.........

Is this the Carlos Checa who was the only rider last year to score points in every single race excepting one, despite being on the Tech3 machine? The one who covered more race laps than any other rider, including Mr Consistency Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden?

Is this the Capirossi who was top three and fighting for the lead of the championship at this point last year until he got injured in Catalunya?

Is this the Barros who is the highest placed non-factory rider excepting Marco Melandri? Ahead of three works riders, including last years champion?

I don't think Edwards lost it because I don't think he ever had it, but thats a different matter.

I don't expect you to do the research, so I'll help you out.

1: Carlos Checa
http://www.motogp.com/en/motogp/motogp_rid...htm?menu=riders
Look for Checa, then career then placements, then flick through 2006. Excluding a Not Classified at Phillip Island, he scored in the points every single race, covering more race miles in the process than any other rider. On a Tech3 Yamaha. Look at where the Tech3's are this year on this years bikes, as opposed to Checa who was on the previous years bikes, they can't match that.

2: Capirossi
http://www.motogp.com/en/motogp/motogp_rid...htm?menu=riders
Here you go again. Capirossi, career, placements, 2006. Only three finishes outside the top ten, one at Catalunya and one at the race afterwards. He picked up eight podiums in 2006, three of them victories.

3: Barros http://www.motogp.com/en/motogp/motogp_res...tm?menu=results
Top scoring non-works bike this year except for Marco Melandri, ahead of three works bikes, including that of last years champion Nicky Hayden.

Ladies and gentlemen, you have seen the evidence put before you today. Old and past it? I think not.

if it wasnt for his team mate taking him out in spain and losing points he could have been ducatis first gp championship winner.

in the end he only finished 20 odd points adrift in 3rd

no way past it

good points Israili and well made

Your research has a few holes in it. You only quote Checa and Capirossi on their 2006 performance, but are strangely silent on their 2007 performances.

This is the Carlos Checa who is on track to crash out of more races than Stoner did in 2006. This is the Carlos Checa who consistently underachieved in six seasons with a factory Yamaha, but kept his ride because of his passport. This is the Carlos Checa who once crashed 40 times in a season, and has probably kissed the tarmac more than any GP rider in history. He did some good work with Tech 3 and Dunlops--he should've stayed with the team--because there's no way he'll get 75 points this year.

This is the Loris Capirossi who is 144 points behind his junior team mate.

As for Barros... yeah, that's you get with Alex. And that's all you get.

Are they old and past it? Well, they are old for a motorcycle racer by today's standards. Past it? On balance, no, but there are riders out there who have more to offer.

I don't think Edwards lost it because I don't think he ever had it, but thats a different matter.

Edwards' time with Yamaha looks a like Checa's to me. Rossi's patronage, not his passport, seems to keep him in the saddle.
