why only stoner can ride ducati

Might as well put other warm bodies on the Ducs beside Stoner, why not get some PowerSlide forumers on them? Who here would like to be be a backmarker? Yeah, you'd be a backmarker, but you'd do it in style.

Cause hes an aussie thats why hes the only one! We do good at everything..heheehhhaaa...it takes balls to ride the Duke well

A few months ago Melandri was interviewed by Italian TV about exactly that: why can only Stoner successfully ride a Ducati? If I remember well, he said that, despite Ducati seeming the most "true" bike in motogp, it's actually all the opposite. He said that, while on the other bikes electronics is of course a great component to serve the bike's performance, Ducati instead is really a bike built around electronics, and only Stoner is confident enough to ride such a strange bike.

I would like to be in MOTOGP even if I was a backmarker cause every once in a while I can count on RDP and others to crash out and I won't be in last place any more.

haha, I don't know your riding credentials, but you'd have to be within a certain % of the pace to qualify.
I'd be amazed if anyone on this forum could gap under 10 seconds.

FWIW, I'm 22 seconds off GP pole at Laguna on a 1098 and proud of my time

According to M. Oxley the GP09 is frequently referred to in the paddock as,
"The bike that makes grown men cry."

LOL I know I more than likely would not qualify. HA ha but it would be fun to try. I was just saying if I was ever able to be in the sport I wouldn't mind being a backmarker since I have no chance in the world to beat the likes of vale and the rest. Just being part of the show would be fun. As far as the gap I guess we will never know. It would be cool just to see what my times would be. It would be great just to get on one of those bikes let alone actually be in a gp.

In the last race at Assen they showed a nice slo-mo clip of Rossi, Lorenzo, and then Stoner going through a chicane. You can clearly see Rossi and Lorenzo going through it smoothly, whereas when Stoner went through the chicane.... he came out of it with the front wheel up in the air, steering with only the back tire. Didn't know if anyone else caught that, if only there was a clip of it somewhere out there, or for those who recorded the race can go and check it out.

Seeing as how Assen is quite a technical track, it doesn't suit the Ducati at all.... which showed with Stoner's 3rd placing. I guess where I'm going with all of this is that the Ducati is a very unrefined bike compared to the Yamaha, so for Stoner to be competitive on that machinery just goes to show how good of a rider he really is.

All this should be known from past iterations of his machine.

one thing i saw in that slowmo shot was, theres a dip in the middle of the chicane. if a rider took more curb on the first apex they tended to miss the dip but if like stoner they took less curb on that part they hit the dip pulling the front wheel up slightly. Did anyone else notice this ??

As I was peering into the hole drilled into the side of Stoner's bike as he flew by at 150mph I saw that his TC sensor had been melted causing a more fluctuation in the burping sound coming from his exhaust. This burping happened at precisely the exact same time as his front wheel was coming off the ground as he was feathering the throttle to avoid a Biaggi moment. This concludes without a doubt that per system malfunction Stoner was riding with no TC although it sounded like more and he has very good throttle control.
