Yes JB did want Stoner and it was said that Rossi vetoed it and all (the truth we may never know), but I fully expect JB to retire when Rossi goes. The only possible thing I can see that may keep him around is if he is able to work with a new talent that he recognises and can nurture.

Burgess will retire when Rossi retires. Rossi probably needs another 3 STRONG seasons (or to be honest, simply "normal" Rossi seasons) to get 123 or 124. If he starts taking fewer victories he may need 4 years to do it. I wonder if Burgess will stay til the end. I surely hope so, but he's mentioned retiring on the bbc stream several times this year alone, so it's obviously on his mind. Anyway, it would be great to see the both of them on the podium for 123/4. I think they would have to force Jeremy to stand there and take the champagne bath for once. Also, Burgess is set for life with Yamaha. He will be given a high level oversight position where I'm sure he'll have carte blanche with respect to what he wants to do, how he wants to do it and when and where he wants to do it. And they'll probably pay him a grip of cash to do it which is cool in my book. Rossi also has lifetime status at Yamaha and they will both always be involved with Yamaha's efforts in some capacity. Even if Rossi's racing cars in the snow, he'll do press for Yamaha forever.

I'm pretty sure that the story of Rossi blocking Stoner's move to Yamaha was never substantiated; a rumor that won't die on the internet. Remember, Stoner had developed a reputation as a crasher on the Honda/Michelin package, which at the time was considered the best thing out there; the Repsol ride being the only one better. Who knew he'd lightsaber his way through the entire grid on an 800 Ducati with Stones. Anyway, capital "F" Factory Yamaha who were looking to replace Edwards with Rossi's eventual successor. At that time (and arguably even now), Stoner didn't seem like the guy to fill that spot and it looks like Yamaha hit another bulls-eye with their current choice.

Anyway, two things you can count on are that the rider still makes the most difference and fast guys are fast. Let's hope for some serious fireworks at Laguna.

If by tyrade you mean tirade, then we have very different understandings of the word.

Ya I said last week Casey should get away from Ducati.... Anywhere but Suzuki. If he made a move to the works Honda that would be fantastic(although I dont think the Honda ..... deserve him) I would prefer to see Casey at Yamaha but that I cant see that happening.

I dont think Danny has much longer left in motogp. Moto2 would be his best chance of securing that elusive wc title
