Guys, Capiross is slow because he is Slow.
I think that it is coming as a bit of a surprise this year but it really shouldn't have. Gibernau was really out performing Capirex but his series of bad luck plagued him. He out qualified and lead more laps than Capirex until his collar bone injury.

Capirex shows up for a hand full of races where he is really strong and the rest he is a mid to top10 guy. This would have been seen earlier except for his injuries and the Bstones not being up to snuff.

I would like to see a healthy Gibbernau on the Duc800cc. That would be a treat.

Capirossi is slow because "you can't teach an old dog new tricks". He was slow all preseason and he doesn't want to have to learn to ride a new bike. He was fast at Turkey b/c the Ducati was too fast for him to be slow. He was fast early at Mugello b/c he thought he might win. He was fast at Sachsenring b/c he made a good tire gamble and he had a chance to finish ahead of Stoner for once.

He 4 years of development for Ducati and now he gets on the GP7 and it probably feels like an alien space craft. He doesn't have the time or energy to learn to ride it, plus he has the clout to ...... Unfortunately, that won't get him anywhere.

P.S. if they got rid of traction control the grid would be significantly different. Dirt trackers and bike control freaks move to the front on the class. Rossi is still number 1 with Melandri, Hopper & Hayden fighting to steal is crown. Stoner would still be learning the ropes and recovering from so growing pains, he would be fighting Edwards, CV, & KRJR. Pedrosa & RDP wouldn't last thru their first season and Elias is either lying down with Kato or sitting with Rainey. Lorenzo would be looking forward to another season racing hotted-up weedeaters and JT would be Britain's GP savior.

Hmmmm......even though i hate rules committees, banning TC sounds like it would fix my entire discontentment with the sport

I had this arguement extensively yesterday so i will say only this. Motogp bikes are the fastest and hardest to ride in the world, the riders at the top are the best riders in the world, you can dream that in different circumstances the order would change but those guys aren't there for no reason. Do you really think a rider like Dani or Casey could get to the front on motogp, master every physical and mental aspect of riding and just be lucky that the electronics mask their sloppy throttle control.

Hmm... Did you know that Cstoner was a dirt tracker. Thus i think that he would be up front.

Did you know that TElias has extensive dirt experience. His father was a Spanish Champion in the class. I think Elias knows how to ride and slide.

I think that you guys are over estimating the benefit of the electronics. The gap at this level of racing is very small and I don't think that the electronics will widen that gap very much. Barros has extensive 500 experience as does Hopkins,Nakano,Checa, Rossi and KRJR. So using your logic. Cutting of the electronics just brought all of the old dogs back into the fight while the young guns need about half a season to sort things out.

All of the Top guys are incredible riders - They will find a way to get in the hunt. Hayden is just one example of a guy doing what he has to do to make it to the heart of contention.

Sorry to anyone who was offended, I won't make references to death anymore.

My grandfather was badly wounded in WWII and he spent most of his life recovering/living with his injuries. He told me: only the rich can pity the poor, only the intelligent can pity the dumb, only the healthy can pity the crippled, only the living can pity the dead. I can't show any special respect/pity for Kato & Rainey because I was raised not to be so self-congratulatory.

Of course, my grandfather also said the Germans who hated him and shot him showed him a higher form of respect than the people at home who were always saying "sorry" throwing things at his feet.........but that was late in life when he started losing it.

Yes, I'm aware Casey Stoner and Toni Elias have dirt tracking backgrounds. Back in the day there used to be a learning curve. That's why I said Stoner would still be learning the ropes, but fast. Elias possesses no self preservation gene, that's why I claimed he would not be in good physical condition.

it's not the first time kato's name has been used to make a point where i felt it was derogatory to his memory and im sorry but i just can not ignore that, but i now feel you have done the right thing so props to you.

Elias has a dirt tracking background and probably future.

Or he may just keep it on the blacktop without using other guys as breaks.

But probably not.

Get ready to be suprised,im more than twice 25. I dont dis older people,i tell it like it is.I know what happens to skills when you get old and mentally its hard to keep the edge.I am a young 50 and my sons friends think im hip because i ride the .... out of a motorcycle but they dont see me limp around in the morning to get moving or the pain pills after a day of riding.Speaking of riding,im headed out in the morning to VIR for the AMA races this weekend.Going to go play on the Blueridge Parkway for about 250 miles of twisties thru some of the most scenic country in the world. Will probably do close to 1000 miles this weekend

Hes too old and past it thats the real truth, Gibernau knew when his time was up and smartly got out of the game. Capirossi is just a money grabber taking a ride away from a young talent.

if you read any interview with any rider who has experience racing with TC and without, they ALL say the exact same thing; it makes the bikes easier to ride. period. mechanics used to be tuners. now they are guys-who-swap-parts. the guy with the most control over the performance of the machine (not including the rider) is the dude programming the EMS. you want a job in motoGP? go learn how to tweak a magneti-marelli system; they'll come beat your door down.

the bottom line is that TC makes the bikes easier to ride. there is just no way you can argue that it doesn't. what you CAN argue is whether banning/retaining TC is good for the sport or not, but to say that TC doesn't mask riders' weakness in terms of throttle control is just not true.

Mylexicon...Just give up mate!!!...if this if that!!!...you’re sounding like all the Michelin riders in 2007!!!

You’re examples ...of “Pedrosa & RDP wouldn't last thru their first season and Elias is either lying down with Kato or sitting with Rainey” is an absolute shocker!!! Very disrespectful and disappointing to read a post like you have made!!!

povol..ditto here!!!...fully agree with your comments...these young guys just don’t realise that age does weary us...but they will as they get older and for CapireX well I totally agree he’s getting old. I also ride nearly every day but it does take a toll on the body after a few hours of riding, it’s not as easy as it use to be, especially when you’re riding the .... out of the thing!!!...but my old duke just keeps on keeping on!!!

I think its quite rude to call him a money grabber just because hes past his best. He obvisously still loves racing and still believes he can fight for decent results. His results may be poor at the moment but if he didn't like the riding anymore there is no way he would take the risks.

at 34 his chance for a WC has long past him, i think its time to give a younger rider a shot.
