Of all the guys who have never raced in GPs who do you guys and gals think would be the best to take over a GP grid spot next year?

Toseland?
Spies?
Tommy Hayden?
Who?

250 rider probably, or Haslam.

I think JT signed with Ten Kate for 2007, turning down an offer from D'antin. From what I've heard I don't think Spies would want to leave the AMA, and I got no idea about Tommy Hayden, but sadly I think Hopkins and Nicky are the last riders you'll see to jump straight out of the AMA and into motoGP.

not unless some yanks endup racing in the 125/250 classes in the old country. i hate to say it but i think all of the above mentioned would struggle mightely. have to be the 250 guy's lorenzo, dovi, aoyama.

I don't think any of them right now could make the jump to MotoGP and kick ass like these last few Americans.

But for the hell of it lrts saaaaaayyy.....

Rey Dominguez Jr.
He's racing in the Metrakit MiniGP World Festival.
They also have Dakota Mamola (Son of.....Look at the last name)
Hayden Gilliam (Little cousin to the Hayden Brothers.)
I'll say Rey though, he doesn't have family connections and he sounds latin, and I'm latin lol!

I think some of you missed the question I was posing. I dont care who is going where and what they are doing or what they want to do or dont want to do. Just a simple, who do you think would be the best rider. I am not sure about those 250 guys. Stoner and Pedrosa were special guys I think. What about Kyionari?

JT or Ben spies IMO, maybe Haslem because of the experience. And the door for SBK riders will always be open, just not as wide as before

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Yamahamer-AL @ Oct 14 2006, 06:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Spies all the way...he needs to get the hell out of the AMA...

Question is, does he want to?

JT is one of those guys that if the package isn't 100% on race day, it really shows, I'm not sure if he's tough enough fo GP's. I don't know enough about Spies, do you guys reckon he'd make the move, I'd say he's got things pretty cosy in AMA. I'd like to see Leon Haslam get a second crack at it, he'd be well suited to a 800, tough kid.

Maybe Spies wants to be the new Mladin! and JT not making the move to GP this year was a big mistake. With all the 250cc riders moving into the big classes, where's he gonna go?

Spies is the only rider I would look forward to seeing in MotoGP. This will not happen anytime soon, and I don't really see a team looking at Lorenzo to help develop a 800cc. With Barros being the logical choices to make a impact on the 800's. So he gets my vote!

Sorry, I didn't read your whole question.

I don't think anyone will be new to GP next year.

Spies had been very very impressive this year. Now, I hate comparing riders in different series because of too many variables but in my opinion (with disregard to where they finished in their respective classes), I think Spies has performed better than JT and Kiyonari. It's too bad Spies has no intentions of going GP racing just yet, having signed for 2 more years with Yoshimura Suzuki. I hope he gets picked up in 2009. I can't wait to see what the future holds for him.

Aside from Superbike, I think Lorenzo and Dovizioso would be good candidates.

250 riders are more likely to take over a position or two on the grid seeing as they come up the ranks of Moto GP and are young and have great potentional (Pedrosa & Stoner for example). World Superbikes and British Superbikes are totally different to 125cc, 250cc and Moto GP bikes, and would be harder to get into Moto GP from there but it is possible!

I think that the 250 greats will get a big chance for a Moto GP space next year, and a few from World Superbikes but none from British Superbikes.

JT was rumoured to get a Ride on the D'antin bikes before he signed with Ten kate again....I would have liked to see that, as they would have new bikes instead of the POS one's they have now.

I'd love to see Haslam in motogp again, on a decent ride - give us Brits someone to cheer for

I don't think there is a rider in a SBK series in the world that has what it takes to make a splash in MotoGP. I'd love to see what a guy like Toseland, Haslam or Spies could do but I don't think it'll be anything spectacular unfortunately. The brightest talent seems to be shining from Bautista.

i think your exactly right - i rekon Spies is happy going aroud and around the same tracks year after year getting his big fat cheque and then going home to the Mrs - just like mladin.

there's nothing wrong with that but it would be nice to see them have a bit of ambition. AMA is hardly the pinnacle of motorcycle racing is it ?

to answer the thread i would have like to see JT take a pop at moto gp but i think he's right to stay away from d'antin. as jamie witham was quoted "louis d'antin has ruined enough careers to last him a life time"

if he gets offered a decent ride i think he would jump at it.

if spies was leaving ama i'd like him to go to world supers i think once he's spanked that smug git mladins arse that is.

i still remember mladin saying how he was going to kick the ass of the WSB guys when they first went to Laguna Seca only.......... he was ......
