Where's Checa going to in 2006?

With the Pons team gone, he has been contacted by Poncharal to join his team, but they are in a similar situation to Pons, Yamaha is willing to rent them the bikes, but so far Poncharal hasn't been able to find a sponsor.

It's a tough situation for Carlos, I don't think WSBK (aka MGP rejects club) has more bikes available.

He dosen't deserve the title "MotoGP Reject" anyway. He tried real hard to impress his bosses at Ducati at the end of the year so they wouldn't fire him. And even though they did, he had some good results and proved his capability. An RCV was a move up, but the team collapsed on him and this late in the silly season, the grid's full. It was bad luck.

Pity, him and Bayliss could have started a tradtion of "You fired us, but now we got better bikes" by being thrown off Dukes and landing on Pons RCV's

Just for the record Hodgson landed in AMA SBK not Worlds.

Back to Checa. I think he will land with Tech 3 Yamaha. He has a long standing relationship with Yamaha and is a factory calibur rider which might ease the pressure on Poncheral's pocketbook when leasing from Yamaha. Also, Checa is a very sponsor friendly rider and it is very possible he could bring some sponsorship to the Tech 3 Yamaha team. All in all I think Checa will be on a Yamaha in 2006, it's just a matter of sorting out who will pay for his ride. Be it Herve Poncheral, Yamaha or a sponsor who has yet to emerge.

I wouldn't go that far. They ride because they love it and get millions of dollars to do it.

I'm not critizising (spelling?) the riders, it's the system !!! MotoGP has become too expensive, and now good riders have to play in 2nd division because there are few bikes in MGP.

Pons just told in an interview that the team budget is around €10 million ! That's probably the cost of all the private WSBK teams together ! The bikes alone cost €4 Million, compare that to the 80K that a couple of ten Kate's CBR cost !

Back to the Checa topic, the latest rumour I've read is that Poncharal could rise the money having Dunlop as a sponsor, the con is that a Dunlop shod bike is not competitive and Checa doesn't want to end up in the back of the grid. He wants Michelins, but Michelin tires for a year cost €1 Million which is out of reach for Poncharal.

I guess Checa will have to take whatever comes up, he's not in a position to demand things, a Dunlop shod Yamaha is as good as it gets this late in the silly season.

Richo go wash your mouth out, what a load of crap. If he was dangerous he would have wiped himself out by now or somebody else by now!!, could you please say who that is????. He just has a superior talent for riding close to other riders.

Don't forget this "Haga dangerous" thing came from a whinging pom, they are good at it.

In my opinion Haga is about the only guy with the guts to give Rossi a run for his money on the same machinery.

Don't get me wrong, I love Haga, he's gonna storm Superbikes sooner or later. He's a great rider, but my point is his riding style is pretty damn crazy and I'd say the only thing that's keeping him upright is a lot of skill and a little bit of luck. His agressive style is no danger to him, coz he can handle it, but you put him going into a corner hard under brakes behind some "Average" rider, and theres a good chance they couldnt take it and end up in the kitty litter. Haga's only dangerous because he's got more balls than any other rider, backed up with the skill to handle himself.

I love Nitro Nori, but you gotta admit, he's a bit crazy on the track

then drop the "dangerous" from ur ranting would ya!

I think you'll find that Nori's not on an M1 because in YAMAHA'S opinion (As in the guys who pay him) He's dangerous. I think he's what they would call a "Risky investment" and When you gotta fork out $2-3 million just for one M1, Risks should be avoided. But that's a heartless corporate opinoin based on statistics and budgets.
I think Nori should stay where he is and add a WSBK championship to his Resume (Somthing he's more than capable of doing) before moving onto an 800. WSBK riders need to bulid up their reputation so they can compete with 250/125 graduates for spots in the GP anyway.
I was actually thinking about this last night and it occoured to me that with his ballsy, brave, slightly insane riding and the skill that keeps him out of the kitty litter, he might be able to join a very small group of riders that could handle the RC211V. But with one year before the beast becomes extinct and Nori locked in with Yamaha Motor Italia this year, it's never going to happen. Shame really.

look we all have our own views on nori and when he stays on the bike for the full distance great but im fully with richo on this nori a danger too most on gp bikes.. my view and i coudnt give a flyinf f..k wot any 1 else says crash bang wallop... oh its great to b back
