What is a Parts Consultant?

I've been offered the chance to have an interview at Audi as a Parts Consultant, I didn't really know what one was as I had applied to be a Service Tech as they're now known, but the woman over the phone described the role of a consultant and it sounded like a computer skivvy, do this, order that, that type of thing.

So does anyone know what/or know anyone who is 1 and could help me out?

My longest post ever:D

Thanks, Phil

I'm guessing it's a posh term for a parts man. Orders parts, checks them off when they arrive (unless you work where I work), then contacts the customer for collection or fitting. Our guys do very little though.

My bro does the same kind of thing for a Kawa dealer. His title gets changed every few months, but Parts interprter/ consultant / supply officer, whatever you want to call it.

Like Neil said it's probably all concerened with parts logistics, ordering, distributing, stocktaking and the like. Dosen't sound very intresting, but if you like Audis, it might be a good way to learn them inside out. Obviously you don't get the hands-on experience a mechanic does, but you'll learn a lot about car parts
