Unless Superbike Planet is just making up interviews - the possibility is very real.

"Dutch team boss Wilco Zeelenberg says Lorenzo will have no problems in dealing with Rossi being back on the opposite side of Yamaha’s factory Zeelenberg told MCN: “I don't think it would worry Jorge at all. They aren’t friend’s that's for sure but also Jorge is not in charge of fixing the second rider. He is a professional motorcycle rider and he only has one thing in mind and that’s to win. And it doesn't matter who the other guy is. He has proven in the past that he is not afraid to have the best guy next to him. He is quite strong in that regard and I'm not afraid if the scenario happens. The second rider doesn't really impact the total performance that Jorge can deliver and that's why we are waiting to nominate the second rider because the main guy is already on a Yamaha. Jorge is our champion rider for the next two years."

Zeelenberg said that a Rossi return to Yamaha would be a decision that would only have been reached after consultations between senior management figures like Masahiko Nakajima and Lin Jarvis and Lorenzo.

He added: “Of course you need to discuss all the matters if Valentino is coming back and if the strategies will change. In the past Valentino was the hero here and it was a completely different situation. If he comes back now it will not be the same. That is quite clear. Jorge is not the final decision maker but he is our number one rider and that's what Yamaha has already decided, that is clear. Jorge is our future so to not discuss this matter with him would not be clever and that’s the reality. Yamaha will decide on the second rider and then we will manage the situation but we won’t go blindly into it."

If it really does pan out that way I will really miss having Stoner around. Loved watching those two fight it out.

And with no proof comes this

Audi bosses have developed a strategy to keep the 9 times world champion in their clasp. It is rumoured that highly technical talks with Rossi and his close engineers have come to an agreement to develop a new square four 1000cc prototype engine using resources of the VW enterprise; specifically the department responsible for Bugatti engine creation.

The square four engine configuration is said to be favoured to allow a package that can be placed at will within the parameters of a racing motorcycle to adjust weight bias as needed to deal with the ever changing tyre construction and rule changes affecting the current MotoGP racing world.

'Dis is great!' Rossi said, 'I can now make the bike go fast without worry of losing the front, if we have so many things to change the settings'

Burgess is also happy, 'I would have been disappointed if Rossi was left with a intractable machine' said the Australian.

It could be said that Audi bosses are taking a gamble, but they say the purists will recognise the need to improve the Ducati and this will filter down to production bikes as soon as winnings return.

The source for this is a person who appears in another forum and does seem to have high level access into the paddock as many of his photos are very illuminating so I would say that there is likely some truth in it

That's like saying stoner is the new Sebastian Porto.

How on earth do you even remotely make that connection Reg.!!??

Porto is take away chicken ............ Stoner farms Angus beef!!

And whereTF is Sebastion? You are so ghetto, knowing where all the Porto's are!!

Forget Duc. They are stuffed so long as they are making that pavement wacker ( huge VSG's in a non screamer config. )

Square four would be better, if they want to stick with big wang.

Might explain what Masao. Furusawawa was up to. A lot more feasible than your "he's helping ducati" theory

There you go, Angus beef, as defined by the name originated in Scotland. Casey is going back to his roots of his deported ancestors by building a wee corner o Scotland in Oz.

What I don't get Barry, is if he is as Scottish as you and I, why does he greet like a wee lassie? He'd have had that ..... knocked oot o him in any Dundee school.

It was never proposed as a serious likelihood. Just a fun idea. Try to keep in mind... it's SILLY Season.

Interestingly, here's a quote from an article from Feb 2011 with Furusawa.

You know Filippo [Preziosi, Ducati Corse general director] came to me and asked lots of questions. The last question was 'will you come to Ducati?' [laughs]. No, no, no. Anyway I gave him lots of hints to win and it looks like he copied my strategy.

Q:

Wow! That was very sporting. When did he come and talk to you?

Masao Furusawa:

Before the Valencia test. Before Valentino first rode the Ducati.

Q:

Can I ask what you told Filippo, or some of what you told him?

Masao Furusawa:

Yes. The first thing he asked me, was to invite myself and my wife to visit the Ducati factory. Because I was a fan of the Ducati, it really touches the heart - I mean the production bike. Not the MotoGP! I am not a fan of what I race against!

Then Filippo did almost the same process as I did for Rossi in 2004. He prepared maybe two or three types of bike in Valencia. And Valentino selected the 'right' one. But from now on I don't want to say anything.

It looks like now Valentino is a little bit confused with the Ducati... That is good! But still I am keeping a good friendship with Valentino. Sometimes he calls me and I give him some small hint. A clue.

The cold hard facts are that GP needs sponsor's money, and Marlboro obviously see something mutually beneficial for them and Rossi.

The cold hard facts are that there are very, very few opportunities for tobacco sponsorship on an international television stage. They would dearly love to reunite with MotoGP.

As they have an association with .... through Playboy sponsoring a car in the DTM (I think), tobacco money shouldn't be a problem.

The Playboy Audi is Team Rosberg, Nothing to do with Audi corporate, other than they run a car based on an Audi A4.

Yamaha hasn't been looking for a sponsor - they are advertising themselves. If they had been, they would have found one.

It seems to be working out quite well for them - there's a real upturn in worldwide Yamaha sales in 2012.

Oh sorry Pete!! I should have put a disclaimer on that name there. I can see your mistake though "Angus" yes yes very Scottish I'm sure ....... but this is the Aussie version of Angus .......... which actually mean " Australia and New Guinea Upyours Scotty!! "

We just bred then and sent them over there cos there is a worldwide push to give Scotties a boost in self esteem.

Sounds good ....... well thats what I'm sticking to

No highland games for me this year Barry, Orks consider themselves Scandanavian not Scottish. Believe it or not they don't wear kilts up here! Me and a mate got well pissed off at comments about skirts one night out on the piss! I'm sure you don't get that in Aus when wearing your ancient hunting McSheene tartan!
