deserves one!!! why the hell do ya think he deserves anything! nothin but a head case chokster!

Well

1. Rossi: He wants it to much
2. Melandri: he just gets better and better
3. Gibbers: ya just can't write him off

Luthi for the 125 Championship

Go Luthi

He only needs 2 damm points, that's finishing 14th, even if Kallio wins. Luthi has this one in his pocket already.

I don't see Gibbers winning unless it rains.

I agree to an extent there mate...
<

But we dont need Gibbers topping himself after the race do we!!!

If he gets his head down and just rides a good race, there is no excuse for pressure in his situation unless of course Vale barges hime again
<

And besides Im dying to see his reaction if he does win..

Hes got to the point now where, really, he should have no pressure at all, apart from the pressure he puts on himself- which ultimately is his downfall- he wants to be at that place after a win- he wants to wake up in the morning AFTER having won a race the day before. But. Its the end of the season, no championship pressure, hes not riding for a job, he is perfectly capable of winning on sunday.

And yes dazza, id love to see his reaction if he won- supreme elation are not the words!

Thinking about i'd love to see old gibbers win on sunday, in front of his home crowd, it would give him motivation to come back to the top next year with a freash start and a new team and bike.

1. Rossi
2. Melandri
3. Gibs

Rossi 1 because he just is the best... Melandri 2 because now he is very good I want him 2nd in WDC! And Gibs I want him on the podium after so much bad luck (and own mistakes!!)

he had no championship pressure in turkey. look what happend their. he has more pressure here than anywhere except other spanish tracks. do i hear throat clearing in the distance? he'll cry if he wins. he'll also get a special treat from his girl methinks

Isn't this the form that we saw from Gibbers before he got on the Honda? He was always mediocre and he never really bothered anyone, I guess he just got back into that form after two wonderful years.

I hope next year is better for him. The Bridgestones can either be good for you (Tamada) or bad for you (Hoffman).
They do very well in the rain and Sete is a wet-weather specialist so maybe for him it will rain alot next year.

hoffman did'nt belong in gp. as far as gibbers in the wet...well not this year . i do believe he crashed at all the wet rounds.

He may not belong in MotoGP but he is the one that has developed the ZX-RR into what it is now. Nakano is using Hoffman's design bike, only now is Nakano the premier development rider for Kawasaki.

Spot on again Xb about the ZXRR being Hofmann's machine. He did the al of the development while Andrew Pitt and Garry McCoy were racing it.

Maybe some of the early members will remember my rants that sounded very similar to that. Ben, Daz, Winner, Ron or Costa? You remember me saying that? I may have been a bit harsher on Gibbers and went into details on how he got his ride but the meaning is there.

Ooost didn't he get his ride because Telefonica decided to switch teams and since Gibbers is Spanish and all that hoopla he came right along with them. Sort of like Elias right now with Fortuna. Gibbers got the third factory bike because Kato died and the spot was for Gresini and Sete was the other available rider to take the spot.

Am I right in makin those statements?

Sete did get his Honda ride thanks to Telefónica, Honda were not particularly interested in Gibbs at the time. You're right up to there.

Sete got official parts this year and part of the last one because he was the only one that could beat Rossi occasionally and was clearly the 2nd best rider. Kato's death didn't really affect Gibb's situation.

Toni Elías is a different situation, he could have gone anywhere he wanted, he had offers from Yamaha to stay, but he seems to prefer the Honda bike, the Fortuna sponsorhip is just extra sugar for Gresini. Elías is young and getting better by each race, Gibernau was old and he only had proved he was good on wet races. Not quite the same.

Yes, I see that Elias has lots of talent and could have a bright future ahead of him. What I wanted to compare was that both are Spanish riders that have an "advantage" because of the nationality that they are and get better sponsor treatment.

Honestly, do you think Fortuna would have gone to Gresini and not had a Spanish rider? There is a SMALL possibility that could have happened but we all know it was his passport that did it for him on that bike. Other young talent could be on the bike. And there is no reason Elias would say no to being on one of the best teams on the paddock.

If you want another example picture the early rumor of Checa going to Suzuki and how Camel Spain would have gone to Suzuki because Checa is Spanish.

That leaves me thinking, Marlboro, "cowboy killers", an American image did not support Suzuki when they had an All-American lineup.......
Damn the underperforming GSV-R!!

Surely Spanish sponsors prefer a Spanish rider, but it's not such a big influence, for example Repsol is sponsoring a team with an American and an Italian in MotoGP and a Frenchman and an Argentinian in 250cc, not a single Spaniard.

The manufacturer usually has the last call, and manufacturers are more interested in other more profitable markets than Spanish, specially the US, Germany, Italy, France, Japan and UK.

So being Spaniard is not an advantage over being German, French, Italian, British, Japanese or American.

The guys that really depend only on their talent are those like Lüthi(Swiss) or Barros(Brazilian) for example.

That is true. I get the impression Repsol is different because they worry more about their product working well and giving them a good reputation. They don't care what nationality the riders are.

Good call on the manufacturers, that is true. I guess we just see a bunch of Spanish and Italian riders getting the seats because that is where most of the talent is, the paddocks are overflowing with them haha.

I agree.

I think talent is everywhere, but in Spain and Italy there are many feeder categories for kids to develop their talent.

Bike racing is very expensive, and you need help when you're begining and probably Italy and Spain are the places were it's easier to begin a career in bike racing.

You've got plenty of safe circuits with competitive 125cc championships. which are much cheaper than the Supersport and Superbike championships that are more popular in other countries.

excellent point teo!

Good debate guys. Generally the manufacturer has the final decision but personal sponsors (i.e. Telefonica Movistar for Gibernau and American Honda for Hayden) will offer a bit more money to the team if the team selects their rider. It is in the team boss's best interests to hire a rider with the same personal sponsorship as the team sponsorship because that way part of a rider's salary is taken care of by the sponsor as well as funding for the team. Gibernau has very close ties to Telefonica which helped him land his Honda ride and the reason he had a factory bike in 2003 was because of Kato's death. He was slated to be a satellite rider just like Melandri is in 2005 but since Gresini had the factory bike at his disposal Gibernau got it and earned his right to retain it for 2004 and 2005.
