USA Today Nicky Hayden Article

<
really tho it's a good thing to see a major paper actually print something about this here in the states!... hopefully more to come!!!
<

Between Hayden's mtv show and fox coverage, motogp will probably get a lot of exposure stateside.
Wont do it any harm I guess
<

Hard to believe the Red Bull Honda slip got past an editor at such as major paper as USA Today.

Good for us over here .... more exposure means we will hopefully see more of it.

I just hope that they focus on the race out frt instead of Nicky and the rest of the mid-packers.

mabe thats farmboys plan what with the mtv show, mabe he feels it might be the only was he will get tv coverage as only the top 5 or so get race coverage.

It's a start I guess, but I honestly don't think it's going to be the springboard for more coverage here. I can wish, but there is a saying that goes like this "Wish in one hand and sht in the other and see which one fills up faster."
We have two networks available to most everyone in the US called Versus and Spike that could add MotoGP or Superbike coverage and do well with it, not sure if either of those networks have considered it though. I know Versus is the only place I can get full coverage of the Tour de France which I think is cool.

By the way Rog, I like your new avatar.

Its still good though. A major publication writing an article about motorcycle racing... great.

Unless the franchise is owned by someone in the US, it will probably not get the promotion it deserves here as there is no vested interest. The broadcaster, speed channnel has not done much either. their coverage actually got worse at the last race in Laguna Seca.

Dorna's hiring of a US firm to head marketing MotoGP should be interest enough in parties involved to properly promote the sport in the US.

Hayboy is playin the media game big time coz he knows the title aint comin back anytime soon.

Readin this at first it makes him sound like someone who really fights for it when the chips are down, I'm not going to repeat what Ive said so many times, we all know the story. If he was a guy like Schwantz (who anybody knows I thought was too erratic to be a regular title winner) or Doohan or Spencer, whatever, I'd take this seriously, but the guy's title was helped along by bad luck falling on the big boys.

Hayboy needs to get out and beat Rossi, Capirossi and the wee guy in his team. End of.

Come the end of the year, the "Numbers wont lie", so lets see the Hayboy get out and do something.

I eagerly await the Haydonette backlash.

^^ The correct term when referring to those who deify Hayden and proclaim his superiority to Rossi, is Haydenite!

I notice that you quoted myself for your reply. I'm just curious as to where the Hayden portion comes into play. I was speaking of the US marketing firm that Dorna has hired to help market MotoGP globally and how this is good news for the series as it is a step in the right direction in adding new sponsors and additional team funding.

All Haydenette/Rossi Disciple banter aside, please let me know the point of throwing Hayden's name into my post. Thanks.

Sorry Pete, just got confused.

Pete, I said it last year (wasn't here though) and I'll say it again.

Hayden is NOT a winner. He was awarded a title, YES, and has the #1 plate no doubt. It's the 1st (and I'll bet ONLY time it'll ever happen) time that the series champion did not win more races than the 2nd place finisher. Winners WIN, bottom line. When a series ROOKIE wins as many races as a rider in his 4th season (who only has a total of 3 wins) it gives you a idea of how much "work" (compared to the winners) was really put into the effort.

NO, I've never raced a MotoGP and NO, I could NEVER go that fast but as the title holders leathers say, Numbers don't lie. Numbers can however tell a story in a story.

#69 is a MIDPACK MotoGP racer bottom line.

Now where's that flame proof suit at?
