Er.... I thought this was supposed to be a motorcycle racing forum.
<

None of this is rocket science, Roger. Is it somehow wrong to contribute some ON-TOPIC material for a change?

Not at all mate, we all have our styles. I speak straight to the point other's string big technical phrases, buzz words or just talk in riddle to try and make themselves look clever.
on topic you say. so what did your post on physics have to do with Troy Bayliss to test Ducati GP9

I'd be amazed it they publish Troy's times. He hasn't ridden an 800 yet and his MotoGP career wasn't all that stellar. Ya I know he won a race. Stoner won a few more. Getting a group of guys to test a bike at 94% is a waste of time.

Errr. (But seriously, I secretly wouldn't doubt, Bayliss is the most under-rated world champ and his MotoGP stint, perhaps the most misunderstood).

off the top of my head. 1 win 3 3rds and finished 6th in the wc. The crusin caretaker did better than that

Yeah, but the CCaretaker did it on a factory Honda (albeit on developmental bike of sorts), while Bayliss did it on what was more like an experimental bike/tires. Much respect to Bayliss.

dont get me wrong jum, im a fan of bayliss. He shows the youngsters a thing or two. But i dont think he was top draw on a motogp bike compared to some of the other names at the time. His bike was also a factory effort and although i will agree was not as good as the rc211v but i dont remember it being a slow bike. All i remember about the bike back then was it running several races without a front mud guard (fender for you yanks) due to heat.
Most people when you talk bayliss / motogp just think of his eppic 06 valencia win . your only as good as your last race and bayliss is remembered for that one

I'm not ripping on Bayliss but come on jumping on the GP9 and giving better feedback than Stoner? I know another set of eyes....

who ??

Sorry to be unclear I meant that maybe Bayliss is just another set of eyes. I mean Stoner can tell you everything he sees but maybe Bayliss will see something only Bayliss can see. Otherwise it is a blast for Bayliss but not much help to Ducati.

Valid points Roger, all of them but they also overlook the one fundamental of teh Bayliss/Ducati MotoGP era which was that until the Valencia 2006 race, he did not get the crew that he wanted.

He always said after leaving MGP that if he could get the team he wanted he felt that he could be competitive and in that one race he was, but even that race needs to be weighed up in context of the championship (ie. Hayden did not have to win the race etc)

But, IMO whilst I have the utmost respect for Bayliss and rate him incredibly highly, I feel he got to MGP to late to really have any chance of longevity.

Who was the Cruising Caretaker ???
I think Bayliss would still be kicking ... this year in WSBK, if he was still there, even with Spies.

There is no question Stoner can make the GP9 work, and I assume Hayden has access to all Stoner's data, so within Ducati there should be no mystery about how Stoner does it.
For whatever reason, Hayden can't do the same. Probably Duc feel that Bayliss will give a different perspective that may assist Hayden.

Maybe Bayliss just gets to joyride the bike, and we are all reading way too much into the test.

in his rookie season on a brand new to motogp bike... thats not a bad season IMO.

not a bad season at all all things concidered, but not good enough to get rookie of the year !
That went to Hayden (cruisin caretaker nuts) if my memory serves.

indeed it did. he happened to have a fairly competent team mate who was developing a rc211v honda at the time which if memory serves correctly, was moderately successful that year....
