Huh ? Did I miss something ? Right now Marquez leads with 298pts vs Lorenzo with 280pts. Two remaining races.

If lorenzo wins both, he'll be at 330ts. In this case Marquez HAS to be on the podium twice.

Besides, I wonder what would happen if Lorenzo wins both races and Marquez finishes 3rd twice ? This would mean they'd have exactly 330pts each.

A Mexican errrrrr Spanish Standoff

I was thinking the same ...... turn 1 at Motegi, championship decided.. mm gets punted by alvaro

You dont even need to be punted. Remember Sete and Tamada ?

Lets not forget the other incident. He was told the rules before the race. He had two clear indicators in Lorenzo and Pedrosa on when to pit. He had his pit board Lorenzo's pit board and Pedrosas pit board all saying the same thing. He had a chunked tire that was telling him enough. That is at least 5 to 6 indicators telling him when. No other rider on the grid had a problem but him.

What does it take for this kid to process simple information?

And all this bureaucratic  rattle should decide the championship? Let them race PS3 next year instead, for sure it will be far safer.

I think its pretty obvious what happened. MM thought he had until the end of lap 10 to pit. He came in at the end of lap 10 as he would not have started lap 11 until he exited pit lane. He did not want to come in at the end of lap 9 because he did not want to pit at the same time as j-lo. He though if he could get some time out of a clear lap he could pit and re-join ahead of lorenzo. A simple ms-understanding of by lap 10 and the end of lap 10.

bummer that the whole team got screwed by this misinformation, or mis-interpretation of information. a simple error on MM's side in the heat of the race would be much less irritating.

anyway, this whole 'race' was a joke, this weekend was very disappointing to follow. was looking forward to PI the whole year and then this.

And thats not forget as pinted out by some in this thread, MM was not the only rider to make that mistake. Even the commentators on BBC were unsure whether it was by lap 10 or buy the end of lap 10. Eurosport were a little more clued up. After all we are all human and make mistakes. I remember KRJR thinking he had won a race, problem was there was still a lap to go hahaha. .... happens as they say.

It's a moot point anyway. The points as they stand are MM 298 JL 280. If Lorenzo wins both the next races, he ends up with 305 points. MM only needs 8 points from the next two meetings to win the WC, so a couple of 12th places.

Theres 50 points up for grabs, JLo can end up at 330 potentially.

Just a pity Lorenzo and Pedrosa DNS at Germany. Without that would have made for a very exciting season end..

I don't agree with the simple mistake excuse. HRC is the most funded team in the paddock and they spend millions of dollars to send their team halfway across the world. I don't believe for second that they didn't Interpret the rule correctly. That's Mickey Mouse privateer .........

But I agree for sure this race was a dissapointing joke

So if it wasn't a mistake, what was it ?  Surely you're not suggesting it was deliberate. Why would he do that knowing the penalty was disqualification.

Gotta concur with Chopperman here.

So they interpreted the rule correctly, and then told their de facto #1 rider to stay out an extra lap, on unsafe tires, under the risk of disqualification, for...what?

So .... grin Marquez got DQ?  That's great!!  Can't stand that fuccin' smirk.

Bring in the Japanese dude from Moto2!!!!  Asian Dominasian!!

Maybe the HRC bosses told dani and asked him to pass the message along to Marquez. A little bit of Chinese whisper took place along the way hahaha

What I thought at the time, was that the moment Marquez had just prior, where he almost lost it, broke his concentration, and that he was already committed to the corner by the time he realized Lorenzo was going into the pit in. That's not what the official HRC/Marquez statements read though and I suppose I should take them at face value.

Oh, how I wish that was true. MotoGP would officially then transform from a racing series into a Spanish soap opera.

I thought I saw the same thing. Might be my imagination, but that whole extra lap he was on, it looked to me as if he knew he blew it but was hoping to get away with it. Might be reading way too much into MM's body language, though.

Mexico needs a rider.  I hear Jumkie is currently in talks with HRC.  I've got a nick for him...... "The Flying Pendejo"!!!!
