no he wasnt
it was handed to him on a plate...val could have taken the championship, pedro also...stoner had lots of problems with the duck...lorenzo was consistent and just plain lucky...lets see the great lorenzo in 2011 when all the top riders will be neck and neck with him??? if he wins it in 2011 then you will be able to make the statement that you did...but 2010 was a season that worked for lorenzo better than for the other top riders
Val could have taken the championship, yes. He might have. But the point is, that we don't know. Jorge was leading the championship when Rossi broke his leg already. He was riding better than Ross after the first three rounds of 2010. No one can claim with any certainty that Rossi would have beaten him had he been healthy. It would have been a very fierce battle.
In any case, the 2009 season showed quite clearly that Jorge was very close to Rossi's level, although not quite at his level over the whole championship. Even in 2008, as a rookie, Jorge took 3 poles on the trot in his first three races! He has consistently been at an extremely high level.
As for Casey, Stoner did many problems with the Ducati, but I think you fail to understand that MotoGP is not the R6 Cup, where your job is to simply ride an already developed motorcycle. Part of your job in winning a championship is not just riding a machine, but providing feedback to guide the development of a prototype motorcycle which will perform well.
Pedrosa could have taken the championship, however, it would have been something of a miracle. Lorenzo was much, much stronger before Dani's injury. Let's not forget that Jorge had a 50 point lead over Dani before the crash. Dani's crash at Motegi made Jorge's job easier, but #99 was still comfortably ahead of Dani.
