There still has to be "smoking monies" involved?

It has to be the only reason why the F1 team is at Vroom! I mean other than Shell, and Puma (maybe even Scandisc) why else would the f1 boys be there? AMG MB is sponsoring team ducati, where Schumi? So is Vroom is basically put on by Marlboro?!!!

I suspect it'll still be the marlboro Ducati team, just without any logos on it.

What would be the point in that?

I don't know, thats how Ferrari and Ducati ran the second half of last season after the subliminal logo thing. I would say the brand name on TV every weekend next to Rossi's name is worth more than a barcode anyway. I'm not saying this is definitely how it'll be done but i wouldn't be surprised

In essence, that's how it's been for the past number of years. When was the last time Marlboro were able to put their name on a bike/car outside Qatar? 2006? 2007? When was the last time they could do it in Europe? 2002? 2003? They've been putting money into these things without having their names on the sides for a handful of years. They're still involved, if not, I can't imagine this event would still take place.

2011 team is known as the "AMG Ducati Team"

Ducati still refers to Marlboro as their Title Sponsor in the Domenicali/Preziosi interview:

"the valuable support of our sponsors, from Title Sponsor Marlboro to our official sponsors, Telecom, Generali, Enel, Shell, Riello UPS; the addition of important new partners like Diesel and AMG; companies that have renewed their commitment; and others that have joined us."

Are we really having this conversation? Geez, no end to rationalize rational LIES.

Just as i thought, cheers for finding the evidence. Gutted Roger

Just a little search will tell you that the Marlboro contract is up at the end of this year.

all this Marlboro talk is making me crave a smoke

I really don't see anything wrong with Ducati taking Money from Marlboro! It does seem Bizzare that Marlboro is paying so much money for almost No real advertising! Ive never seen an add in any racing magazine from them.

Geez guys, Ducati are running out of places to put sponsor logo's on thier bike, and Yamaha still haven't found a big time sponsor?

How ...... up is the economy that the defending champ's can't find a title sponsor!

Is it really the economy, or the defending champs personality that is not pulling tittle sponsors for Yamaha? Seems like the economy is just fine in the Ducati garage.

Has nothing to do with economy or personality. It has everything to do with the fact that 80%+ of GP "fans" and casual spectators r Boppers.

Not really. I have nothing against Tobacco money in sport, id rather it wasn't there but that has never been my issue. My issue was with rossi being very out spoken against it and then for the second time have tobacco sponsorship plastered all over him and his bike. I said if he did that he would imo be a sell out and lose me as a fan. As far as i can see he or his bike has no tobacco sponsor logos. Ducati have never spoken out against tobacco sponsorship. If they are a silent sponsor then i have mixed feeling. It was not something i envisaged so i will think about my stance as the facts become clear.

im not backpedaling at all. My stance has been consistant and firm. If he has tobacco sponsorship i will not support him. I will wait for more proof than 1 soup article before i judge though !

Probably the same amount of time i have to keep posting my opinion

no matter how many times i say it i just can't seem to get it through to the peeps who keep calling me on it.

I couldn't give a .... if Rossi smokes, its his choice as it is every smoker's choice. I don't care that motogp teams use tobacco sponsorship money. Money is tight and teams are businesses.

What i care about is a person i choose to support being true to their word. Rossi right at the beginning publicly stated he was against tobacco sponsorship. I respected him for that and it was part of the reason i chose be support him. In 06 he went against this, he stated it was because Yamaha still had a year to go with the contract. He also stated that after that year he would be riding without tobacco money in future. I did not like the fact he went against his beliefs in 06 but i understood. You can not play the same card twice with me !

IS THAT ....... CLEAR EVERYONE?
