There still has to be "smoking monies" involved?

IS THAT ....... CLEAR EVERYONE?

<
Hahahaha, my compa!

Yeah, very clear my friend. Ok, this is very clear too. Rossi works for Marlboro Ducati. Oh, incase there is any confusion, Marlboro is a tobacco company sponsoring the team that Rossi just got hired to work for and is cashing their checks. Is that clear?
<

Do you need this?

Well dude, what can I say, if you don't believe it, Jesus himself can't convince you....now.
<

Yup. why is there more proof i have not read then?

Maybe it is a good idea to read the integral transcript of Rossi's ...

Q. Two questions, the simplest and most obvious questions. The first is this: I want to ask you first of all how are you after your surgery, how do you feel physically?

Valentino Rossi: First of all, ciao to everyone...

Q. The second obvious question is this - after Valencia, you could not speak for contract reasons. This is the first time that you're in front of the press as a new Ducati Marlboro rider, so we want to know your first feelings about the bike.

VR: ...bla bla bla

[notice he didn't correct the interviewer if infact he isn't riding for Marlboro]

I may not convince you that Ducati is sponsored by Marlboro, but most everybody in the universe that follows the sport knows the obvious brotha.
<

Maybe this is a case for Kropo?

I'm glad he's sponsored by Marlboro, now all my cigarette money isn't just going to ..... Boom tish.
<

Probably the same amount of time i have to keep posting my opinion
<
no matter how many times i say it i just can't seem to get it through to the peeps who keep calling me on it.

I couldn't give a .... if Rossi smokes, its his choice as it is every smoker's choice. I don't care that motogp teams use tobacco sponsorship money. Money is tight and teams are businesses.

What i care about is a person i choose to support being true to their word. Rossi right at the beginning publicly stated he was against tobacco sponsorship. I respected him for that and it was part of the reason i chose be support him. In 06 he went against this, he stated it was because Yamaha still had a year to go with the contract. He also stated that after that year he would be riding without tobacco money in future. I did not like the fact he went against his beliefs in 06 but i understood. You can not play the same card twice with me !

IS THAT ....... CLEAR EVERYONE?

As an unmuddied lake, sir. As clear as an azure sky of deepest summer. You can rely on me, sir.

Let Tobacco companies openly sponsor whoever they want. PLaster their signs and logos all over. Let parents do their job to educate their kids. It is a personal choice to smoke, and one that shouldn't be governed by anyone. Rossi should keep his mouth shut about the sponsorship thing especially if he smokes, which was news to me until now. It is a shame to see Lorenzo without a title sponsor. I am not a big Jorge fan but I am a big MOTOGP fan. This entire depletion of the grid due to money could have a solution of sorts if people weren't so damn uptight about tobacco.

Yeah I know it is still sheik to smoke in Italy, but I just didn't think an athlete of his stature would still smoke.

There are odd photos of him smoking but i would guess he's not a typical 10 a day (or more) type of guy

Yes it is a personal choice - I agree. The problem is that in Australia, the rest of us pick up the health bill for those smokers as Australia tries to provide free health care to the majority of Australians. This makes it everybody's problem and that leads to the introduction of restrictions on advertising etc. We all pay higher tax as a result.

The same is true here. Lot's of folks with no insurance filling up cancer wards and emphysema clinics paid for by American tax dollars.

And to say it's all the parent's responsibility is the biggest cop-out in the world.

Kids are very susceptible to advertising and what they see portrayed in all the

various media. They are bombarded by it and parents can only do so much

to stem the influence of films, videos, billboards and magazine advertising.

To blame smoking by teenagers on parents is like blaming them when their

kids listen to Hip Hop. Social responsibility is the responsibility of society as a whole.

If someone tries to kidnap a child on the street in front of my house - I'm not going

to phone the kid's parents. We're, all of us, morally obligated to do the right thing when the opportunity arises.

I hear lately, at least someone's managed to quit the Marlborough red since this was taken..

In the uk shops display candy bars in colourful wrappers at waist level. Waste leval for adults but eye level for young kids. The kids see these and want to try all of them. You see the young kids throwing tantrums if they dont get some. When these kids get to teenagers the candy shelves are now waste level but the tabacco cabinet is now eye level. All those colourful ... packets right in your line of sight just like the candy was when you were younger. Advertising is a science and conditions you from a very young age.
