Good to see that a lot of the old guard are coming back. Who said PS was dead?

There are certain parties who shall remain unnamed who believed the forum could only be interesting if it were constantly fueled by drama. Turns out not to be so.

Yea, the wet race at Silverstone was a great ride by Rossi. He had Marquez on his rear wheel the whole way until MM high-sided. The next round in Misano was crazy. Dry...to wet....to dry. Rossi was fortunate to take 5th after staying out too long on the wets with a dry line on the track. Lorenzo crashed. Those wet tires were flinging off rubber like crazy. Amazing they lasted as long as they did though the first guys to come back in for slicks were lapping 9 or 10 seconds faster than Rossi at that point but still, he stayed out on the wets.

Its funny because spanish commentary had Lorenzo on board for the qualifying and he talked about that season and how he kept having .... luck that made Rossi stay in front of him all year.

Damn it was a pleasure listening to him talk compared to the current commentators, his insight was amazing & had a logical answer for almost everything that went down.

He stayed humble too!!

A new era with several new talented riders bidding for greatness, one rather successfully thus far this season, MM who is now the old guard attempting a comeback with an outcome which remains undetermined, why would long term fans of gp bike racing not be interested/entertained ?.

He was on the MotoGP.com commentary in Motegi 2018, after his GP18 tried to kill him in Thailand and as you say, he was a joy to listen to. So much insight to things we don't see or even consider.

Agreed, lets hope it stays that way.

Dare I say it.... The tyre lottery. It's starting to really grate on me tbh.

My opinion of the Michelins is not high either.

If we completely returned to the old days we could have several concurrent tire threads as was the case back in the tire war days when Valentino went after the Bridgestones.

I don't mind control tyres so much but when the consistency is so ......... with riders blaming tyre problems for more races than not it takes away from the series IMO.

There were rumours flying around Michelin were favouring Fabio due to his nationality 2 weeks ago. Come to this weekend and he says he got a dud tyre, which was the cause of his result. I'm not saying that the tyre lottery is or isn't by design but its not a good look IMO when the guy everyone says is getting 'lucky' with the tyres due to his nationality then gets a dud tyre in the very next round to 'prove' that he isn't being favoured.

Perhaps so, but I tend to think the Michelins are randomly dud rather than that dud tires are assigned to individual riders. I think overall directions of tire development which don’t suit particular bikes or riders certainly have occurred and do occur, my objection to the control tire is that there seem to be insufficient options to suit a wide variety of riding styles or bike characteristics.

Indeed. It’s not only about working hard to get into a competitive team and to get great results with the team, it’s now hoping and praying that the next set of tyres will work like the last or that the 1 degree change in temperature will not completely change the feel of the bike and tyres.

Gaban, I reported your post because you are spamming your Rossi fanboyism on every thread.

We get it! You want Rossi's babies, but you already created a thread for the above link.

Could Gaban be Uccio?
