"only the forks" where a quote from the commentators at MotoGp quoting stoner. YMMV

Big bang engine and the current tyres also do not seem to suit him, but that's his problem and no-one else's, although I am not sure the current tyres were all that suited to valentino either. I think the 2007 hard compound bridgestones did peculiarly suit stoner. The ducati in its current guise looks slower in a straight line than the honda, and good luck to honda if they now have the better engine, although reliability and rideability concerns may also be operative given this did not necessarily appear to be the case at qatar. There has been talk about the carbon fibre chassis being overly stiff as well, although it did not seem much of a problem for casey when he was on song last year, and it does not seem to be stopping hayden from getting closer to his 2006 form.

At this rate HRC wont want stoner, as the BBC said, is price is falling with every race .... Cant say yet what they said as it would be a spoiler, but you get the jist.

At this rate he'd be lucky to get a c90 and a packet of crisps. Why would Honda want somebody that their guys are beating regularly? They,ve already had the real Freddie Spencer, why go for Stoner?

Pete

well if he has truly signed then i wonder if there is an escape clause for honda...
<

I am not sure he can be legally signed at this time anyway.

why not? is there some rule that prohibits riders from signing a contract this time of year? unless there is something writen in his contract with ducati... whats to stop him? he could of at least signed a letter of intent.

I saw something suggesting there is such a rule in motogp, not legally in a general sense; apologies that I can't remember where. I am not sure what significance a letter of intent would have if this is so, but I am no lawyer. As I recall everyone assumed melandri had signed for ducati for 2008 before the 2007 season, but while they may have made promises he did not sign till mid-season. I would agree stoner's stocks aren't on the rise at the moment, although considerably higher on lap 20 than on lap 1. I still think he would be more likely to beat rossi and lorenzo on an hrc bike than anyone except rossi and lorenzo, whilst not discounting ben spies' potential which has just become less theoretical.

I hope Casey goes b/c it looks like Yamaha are starting to pull away. The Repsol Honda era wasn't particularly entertaining so I hope Casey can prevent a FIAT Yamaha era.

The way he has been riding lately, I think he could score a lot of results on a Honda. His form and his mental focus seem to be as good as ever, it's just that the new Ducati is a bit tame.

News Flash: We're already a year (or two) into the Fiat Yamaha era...

Two years doesn't constitute an era of domination by manufacturer.
<
If Lorenzo and Rossi notch another 2 or 3 championships with relative ease, it will be an era for Fiat Yamaha.

I think Lorenzo will be the key, not Stoner.

He will be looking for big money, particularly if he wins the title this year.

Will Yamaha pay the cost to keep both Rossi and Lorenzo, if they are bidding against Honda for Lorenzo.

Would Rossi take a pay cut to allow Yamaha to keep Lorenzo (

- Dont think so)

Honda must have a Spaniard (for Repsol) so either Pedro or Lorenzo must be at Honda.

Is Dovi contracted for 2011 ??

Knowing what Ducati offered Lorenzo, surely Stoner is in to Ducati for a pay rise. If Ducati have to pay big money are they safer with Stoner or Lorenzo (

So really, the world will probably revolve around Lorenzo, and he will know it, and have his hand out accordingly.

My guess is;

Fiat Yam Rossi and Lorenzo

Ducati Stoner and Hayden

Honda Pedro and (????) Dovi

Tech 3 Spies and (????) Edwards.

Not much to change.

Lin Jarvis reckons the 2011 rider market will not start falling into place until it becomes clear whether Casey Stoner is joining Honda.

Burgess also suggested Stoner is the "hinge pin", which surprised me as I thought he would have said they will all wait to see what Rossi where Rossi is going.

Again .... it made me suspect Jeremey "knows something" more about Rossi's future intentions.

Repsol will not be title sponsor of HRC next year. They employed Suppo for 2 reasons. To replace Repsol and to get Stoner. Suppo won't fail at either.

I also think that Randy's race on Sunday and his season so far has put him into the spotlight for a factory number 2 seat and maybe HRC will replace both Dani and Dovi. The way I see it there are only 3 genuine #1 or lead riders - Rossi, Lorenzo and Stoner. Dani is just not consistent enough, Dovi is like Hayden in that he is a really good rider but not quite great. Luckily there are 3 genuine factory #1 seats. It will be interesting to see if each of them is filled with a genuine #1 rider.

Pete

Yeah, nobody will want Stoner. He's only won 20 gp's in the top class, second only to Rossi out of the current riders. He might get a ride with suzuki if he's lucky.
